This document summarizes a research study that examines the relationship between enterprise risk management (ERM) and organizational performance in the Nigerian insurance industry from 2001-2010. The study uses secondary data from 10 general insurance companies in Nigeria. It measures ERM using indicators like contingency reserve, shareholders' fund, gross premium and net premium. The study finds a joint relationship between the ERM variables and organizational performance, though the individual relationships differed. It recommends Nigerian insurers adopt ERM to boost performance and reputation.
