This summary provides an overview of a workbook designed to help people overcome procrastination by gaining awareness of their patterns and triggers for delaying tasks. The workbook discusses how procrastination is linked to trying to avoid negative emotions associated with tasks. It encourages readers to acknowledge their feelings without identifying with them, and to use mantras or "if/then" intentions to regulate their behavior and just get started on tasks despite any reluctance. The goal is to break the habit of procrastination by recognizing tendencies to delay and choosing to act differently each time.

Being in conflict with someone: is it worth it?Angela Belotti
Conflict can arise in personal and professional relationships from differing resources, roles, styles, perceptions, values and goals. While some conflicts may not be worth resolving, addressing issues can improve relationships and reduce emotional burdens. Seeing situations from multiple perspectives, including your own, the other person's, and an observer's view, provides understanding and allows creative solutions where all parties' needs are met. Adopting different perspectives enhances understanding and enables finding balanced ways forward.

Understanding others through their communicationAngela Belotti
How easy is it to become trapped in some form of conflict with others, whether that’s our work colleagues, friends or even our loved ones? Despite all good intentions, we end up feeling a sense of misunderstanding and frustration. But what is the real source of this conflict?
Have you ever wondered why some people appear not to be affected by problems life ‘throws’ at them? If only – you wonder – you could deal with life in the same way!
Not being given the opportunity to step up in your career?Angela Belotti
The document discusses feeling stuck in your career and not being given opportunities to advance. It argues that the true obstacle holding you back is yourself, not your boss or manager. It provides steps to take responsibility for your career by reflecting on your ideal job and role, assessing the skills needed, seeking new opportunities, and celebrating small achievements along the way. Taking responsibility and accountability for your own career is key to having a job you feel proud of.
If, after a year or two of having made the decision to set up in business, you’re still struggling to make ends meet, it’s not surprising that you end up questioning whether you can do it.
Others depend on me and I can't let them downAngela Belotti
This document discusses the negative effects of always putting others' needs first and focusing too much on helping others. It can lead to taking on too much, feeling frustrated for not delivering on your own work, and constantly postponing your own priorities and goals. The key is to find a balance by also saying "yes" to your own priorities in order to appreciate and love yourself. Establishing healthy boundaries and being responsible for your own life priorities can help you better help others in a more positive and sustainable way.
As a small business owner or self-employed professional, do you ever feel you have too many 'irons in the fire' and yet, feel that you’re achieving very little?
The document discusses the author's experience attending the Life 2.0 Three Principles Conference in London. The conference covered the three principles of Mind, Consciousness, and Thought put forward by author Sydney Banks. These principles hold that one's thoughts create one's experiences and feelings in any given moment, and that human beings create their own experiences through their thinking. The author found the conference opened up a new perspective on life and human potential.
Believe it or not, the fear of success is commonly shared among small business owners and self-employed professionals. And it is such fear that affects the growth of their business.
It's about gaining awareness of who you truly are, how you are stopping yourself in life, and what you can start doing to make a difference in your life.
As a small business owner, you are faced with a multitude of decisions every day. Although this feels exciting at times, it can also become overwhelming, as developing and running your business on your own might eventually lead you to start doubting your own judgement.
Developing an achiever mindset applies not only to those who believe they are underachieving but also to those who already see themselves as achievers.
There are various reasons for setting up in business, for example, the desire to become financially independent or be your own boss. But what is the significance of understanding the 'Why' of your business?

2. Sometimes, while doing something, we often find ourselves thinking we should be doing
something else, even if the former is less important than the latter. We then end up
accumulating things to do, because what we’ve chosen to do first, seems to be taking time (if
not days!) to complete and somehow, we aren’t able to start anything else until this is done.
Eventually, we become overwhelmed by the amount of things we need to do and conclude
that we need to learn how to prioritise. But what is it ‘prioritising’?
The order of things
www.angelabelotti.com
3. Prioritising is how we rank what we want or need to do. However, what defines that ranking
order in our mind?
Common sense tells us that it is by the level of importance each task has for us at any given
point in time or context. In simple words, what is a ‘must,’ a ‘should’ and a ‘nice to have.’ Yet,
we often find ourselves doing something which is of minor importance.
So, what are the factors which influence the order we action our list of priorities?
Let’s explore some of them.
Prioritising
www.angelabelotti.com
4. We have a long list of things to do and we are clear about their order of importance. Yet, when
the factor of time comes into play, that priority order is ‘re-ordered.’ It is as though the
concept of time compresses our neat list of priorities into an amorphous cluster of things to
do. If you also factor in ‘urgency,’ which our mind seems to easily translate as ‘Get everything
done NOW!’ this overrides the original importance of each item.
I always consider that time is a concept we create, and as such, we’re also able to modify that
concept to suit our needs. Here’s an easy example.
Time
www.angelabelotti.com
5. Consider your list of things to do and then prioritise them. Now, add a time factor to this order
of things, eg, to be done today. If, through doing this, you suddenly lose the priority of
importance and start actioning an item which shouldn’t be prioritised, expand that time to
consider the same list of priorities within the context of completing them within a week
timeframe.
This will enable you to maintain some of the initial order, while possibly reducing the level of
importance of some of the items on your priority list.
Time
www.angelabelotti.com
6. Well… one drives the other, so we can’t really separate them. But what have our human needs
got to do with prioritising?
If you consider that our actions are driven by our human needs (i.e. physiological needs, safety
needs, belongingness & love needs, esteem needs and self-actualisation), the importance of
meeting them defines the importance of what we actually action, regardless of the initial
priority order we established in our mind.
Here’s an easy example...
Needs vs Motivation
www.angelabelotti.com
7. An easy example...
What’s more important to you, helping your friend or writing a report?
In your mind, you would probably prioritise ‘helping my friend’ over ‘writing a report.’
However, when it comes to taking action, you’ll probably end up writing the report first if you
know that an incomplete report undermines the security of your current job.
Needs vs Motivation
www.angelabelotti.com
8. If we do not see or feel the value of doing something, we might do it once or twice but
eventually lose the will to continue doing it. This is because that task or action has lost its
importance. It is meaningless. So, when we define our list of priorities in our mind, the value
that each subsequent action creates for others, and subsequently for us, will eventually take
over the order of the original priorities.
It is that value that brings about meaning in what we do. It is that value that determines the
most important actions to accomplish from the list of priorities in our mind.
Value… to whom?
www.angelabelotti.com
9. As human beings, we are very good at overloading our ‘to-do’ list and, usually, it doesn’t take
too long to define in our mind what has to be done first, second and so on. Yet, when it comes
to the moment of taking action, the priority order easily changes. This doesn’t necessarily
define a lack in our prioritising skills, but possibly an increased awareness of what’s really key
for us to action first.
The point is not to force ourselves to accomplish what we originally thought was more
important, but to realise the change in our priority order, become aware of the possible
reasons for it and improve our original order of things to enable us to accomplish them easily.
The order of things
