The Office Job - Movie
Pitch
By Chris Sevier, Marcus Price, Bence Marton and Matt Rouse
Film Overview
• The simple synopsis for our film:
When three guys are fired from their regular office jobs,
they plan an intricate heist to seek revenge. What they find
inside was worth more than they could have ever possibly
imagine. Before they know it, they're doing a lot more than
simply stealing, as they gear up to take down their former
boss.
• Our film is primarily a heist film, and is a story of revenge
and action. However, there are some comical aspects to it,
through the chemistry of the characters.
• Our film is similar to other heist films such as Tower Heist.
In this film, a hotel manager plans a robbery targeting his
former boss, who stole all the savings of his employees.
This 'Robin Hood' approach, of stealing from someone
which is seen to be a deserved target, will be used in our
film. In the film, sympathy will be built up for the
characters who lose their jobs and plan the heist.
Key characters
Main character: Dom (aka "RED")
Character 2 : Aiden (aka code)
Character 3 : Spencer (aka Tricep)
Red is the protagonist character that comes up with the idea of robbing old the boss,
the reason for him doing this is the same as the others (to get revenge on the
company) but also a dramatic irony effect is added as the main reason behind him
doing this is due to a sad backstory involving family.

Key traits/aspects
• Strength
• Obedience
Code is the brains of the team he is the character who is in charge if the technical and
electronic part of the heist(aka as the computer nerd) he carries his gadgets everywhere
and feels incomplete without them.
Tricep is the character that is seen as 'the muscle' of the group, he is the character that is involved
in most of the violent/dangerous scenes. He isn't very smart and always listens to instructions and
does what he is told, however he struggles to take information in. There is no information on
'Tricep' and no one knows where he came from, this adds to the shady mysterious element that
this character has. a dramatic irony effect is added when the audience finds out Codes plan to
betray the team.
Our ideas for the target audience
We have done more research into previous
movies and we found out that 80% of the
cinema audience for the movie Ocean's Eleven
has enjoyed the movie and would recommend
it. This is useful, because we believe that our
movie idea is very similar to that, therefore it's a
significant feedback on a previous movie that
matches our own idea.
From our research we have found out that the
main age and gender for action - thriller movies
where male between the ages of 15 - 24. The
second largest age group was male aged 55
above. The research was useful as we now know
who our main audiences should be.
Our ideas for the Promotional Campaign
• Below is the font we will use for our titles
in our teaser, and on the poster for our
film. Using the same font will establish a
connection between our marketing
products. The font is similar to that of a
typewriter, which was typically used in
an office. This links to the title, and
setting for our film whilst establishing a
clear marketing scheme.
• The colour scheme will be white
background with black font. This looks
like a document, fitting in with the office
title of the film.
• The film will be branded with a light hearted tone to it. We feel
that if our film was to be branded with a serious tone it would
miss represent key aspects of our film.
• The USP of our film is predominantly the narrative. The idea of a
revenge story through a robbery is not an entirely new one in
film, but the possible conspiracy going on within the business
will keep viewers intrigued as they feel the storyline will keep
them interested as they watch the film.
• Another USP we will push in our marketing, especially on our
posters and magazine covers, is the characters. Each of our
characters have unique personalities, which are very
entertaining on screen.
Our Ideas for The Teaser
• Key Events – The teaser will open with a shot of Dom, the main character, being questioned in the interview
room. This immediately implies to the audience that he has committed a crime. There will then be a quick clip
showing the three being fired from their job, with the next sequence putting emphasis on the planning stage
of the heist. There will be shots of the three characters doing things such as looking at blue prints of the office,
and getting ready all the equipment. After this we want to show some shots of the heist happening, without
giving away too much narrative so the audience is still interested in viewing the film. We will show some action
shots, like Dom picking locks, and Aidan hacking software. We also want to hint towards the end of the teaser,
that everything is not quite as it seems, with the characters. We will show enough of the narrative in our film
to interest viewers, as it is one of our USPs.
• Characters – The characters will show off their respective personalities in the trailer. Dom will be shown as the
leader, Aidan as the hacker and Spencer as the physically strong team member. We may have shown some of
Dom's backstory, to reveal more of his motivations for the job, if we had more time in the teaser. This would
add complexity to his character.
• Titles and Narration – Our teaser will likely not include a narration, but rather titles in-between the clips.
However this is undecided at the moment, and we are considering having the character Dom narrate part of
the teaser. The titles we do use will have the same font as the rest of our marketing products (the typewriter
style). Music will also be used as non diegetic sound in our teaser, to create a mood that compliments the
footage on screen. Perhaps fast paced or upbeat to reflect the action scenes or high stakes plot.
• What we aim to get across – We aim to show off the heist aspect of our film as much as possible, while also
showing each of our three key characters personalities as best we can.
Our Ideas for the Poster
• The poster will also predominantly feature the three main characters on it, as well as the same font as the
titles in the teaser. These are the 'team' that operate out the heist, and will be the faces of the
promotional campaign. Each character will be dressed in the costume that best represents their character.
For example, the character Aidan , will be posed sitting with his laptop, showing that a big part of his
character is his advanced computer and hacking skills.
• The tagline 'this summer, they won't just beat the boss. they'll rob him too.' will also feature under the
title. This offers a lighthearted approach on the narrative, whilst also offering information towards the
time of the release.
Magazine Cover Idea Our group came up with
the idea of having the
three main characters on
the poster. Marcus, also
known as Red in the film,
will be placed in the centre
as he holds the main role
in the film. The bold image
of Marcus crossing his
arms on the poster
signifies his importance as
the main character.
Matt, also known as Code, will be on the
left of Marcus with the action of being
on the computer. This shows how the
character is the brains of the operation
as he hides behind a computer. We
could also add in this code design in the
background of code to show the
audience he is a hacker.
Tri-cep, also known as Bence, will be on
the right of Marcus showing brute
force. This can be from the action of
holding a weapon, attempting to hit
one of the sub headings on the
magazine cover (perhaps one saying
what is found inside this weeks issue –
this is conventional of magazine
covers).
