Students at multiple schools participated in various fundraising activities for CAFOD such as collecting coins, giving up favorite items, and sleeping outside to raise awareness of homelessness. A boy named Joseph has been organizing an annual Easter raffle since age 9 and has raised over $200 for CAFOD.

Introduction
The previous chapter began a discussion of the third act of the biblical story: the redemption of
humanity by Jesus Christ. It claimed that worship of God takes a definitive turn with the life and death of
Jesus Christ. To worship God means to worship Jesus, the divine human being whose life was utterly
devoted to God and humanity, the human being who, as God, fulfilled the human vocation to be in Godโs
image. Worshiping the true God begins in the rejection of the worship of self and a reorientation toward
self-sacrifice. The worship of things, including wealth, power, fame, and sex, that magnify the self is to
commit idolatry; such worship is incompatible with the worship of the true God as definitively revealed
in the human life and death of Christ.
But, how do human beings actually come to reorient themselves to the worship of Christ? How can
humans overcome their idolatrous hearts? How can they truly love the God who loves them in Christ?
Answering these questions is the focus of this chapter. It brings us into the sphere of the fourth act of
the biblical story, restorationโthe renewal of all creatures, particularly humanity, to the worship of God.
Discussion in this chapter will show that the restoration of the worship of God not only entails the
external work of Jesus Christ, but also the inner restoration of the human heart. In this discussion, two
topics will be encountered:
Justification by faith, the process by persons become righteous on account of their faith in the
work of Jesus Christ, which was done on their behalf, and
The life of wisdom as explained in Jesusโ Sermon on the Mount.
Faith in Christ: The Restoration of the Human Heart to True Worship
In the New Testament, the event around which the human heart is restored is called justification by faith.
It receives its most sustained treatment in the book of RomansโPaulโs letter to the church in Rome.
Romans reveals that the issue of justification goes all the way back to the covenant with Abraham. Recall
that this covenant was the beginning of Godโs plan to save humanity; through Abrahamโs family, all the
families of the Earth would be blessed. But, the blessing of humanity in Abraham consisted of the
development of a nationโthe people of Israelโwho were to obey Godโs laws and, thereby, exemplify to
the world the justice of God and Godโs true intentions for humanity. When the Law was given, being a
part of Abrahamโs family became a bit more complicated than simply being a descendent of Abraham.
Now, one had to be obedient to the Law in order to be a true Israelite or child of Abraham. Justification,
then, concerns oneโs status in relation to the covenant God made with Abr.

As Paul contemplates Christ a propitiation
in his blood, the first question prompted by
the sight is, Where is boasting then ? And he
answers in a word. Excluded. Standing by
Mount Calvary, and realizing that there is no
way to God but that way, we become con-
scious of an infinite obligation to Christ. The
deepest, strongest, most omnipresent of all
Christian feelings is the feeling of debt. The
one thing a man can not do, who has taken
home to his heart the significance of the cross,
is to make claims as of right against God.
He feels that he is debtor to Christ for what
he can never repay. Christ has done for him
what he could not do for himself, and what
no effort could ever enable him to do ; He
has made atonement for his sins; and as this
truth, on which all his hope depends, sinks
into his mind and masters it, his soul is
flooded with a sense of obligation to Christ
in which all other feelings are swallowed up.
Boasting is excluded; it is peremptorily and
finally excluded; the Christian's whole life is
a life of debt to God.

Why the hell do bad things happen? Suffering, Satan and the Problem of Evil

Lighthouse Network Prayer Letter
The Lighthouse Network held its formal launch with a gathering of 40 people at St George's Crypt Dining Room. The meeting included worship, a pasta bake, and prayer partners praying with one another. The network has also been working with vulnerable individuals throughout the week, including driving one man to a rehabilitation center and visiting another in prison who shares his faith. The letter requests prayer for the continued growth of the network, the Crypt which hosts their meetings, an upcoming launch, those in rehabilitation, homeless individuals hoping to enter rehabilitation, a man in prison, and the Lighthouse Team.
ANE parallels to Gen 1-11
1) The gods grow tired of their forced labor and revolt against Enlil, their leader.
2) The gods decide to create humans to take over the hard work. Humans are formed from clay mixed with the flesh and blood of a slain god.
3) When humans become too numerous and noisy, the gods try to curb the human population through plagues and famine. However, Enki warns the human Atrahasis of the gods' plan to send a flood.
