I stress about if i'll graduate high school, if my friends will judge me for the slightest mistakes, if i can sleep more than 3 hours tonight. My self worth
is diminishing, and it's getting harder to wake up in the morning. I visit a therapist every week in attempt to relieve some of the stress. I can feel this
amongst my friends and peers as well. Their confidence is only decreasing, and their demeanors are usually depressing or pessimistic. This is evident
through the positive trend of suicide. A trend that makes "I wanna kill myself" or "kill yourself, you won 't" apart of our daily vocabulary, or makes
songs about depression top the music charts. I've also heard, "I'm gonna have a panic attack right now" or even "I can barely read this, I totally
have dyslexia." Self deprecation can be a good comedy device at times, (even I use it most of the time and sometimes find myself saying these same
things) but we need to somehow shift this mindset of mental illness and place it in the correct context that isn't as offensive. By observing the
behaviors of teenagers in school, social media, and society, I can see an increase in mental illness in every aspect.
Although I support bringing awareness to this issue, I believe that individually confront mental illness isn't the right choice. I believe that we schools

This week clinical I felt better prepared than I did with my first week. I was able to focus a lot more on interpersonal skills and develop therapeutic
relationship with my patients. In terms of Mental Status Examination (MSE), this assessment provided me with a helpful base of information from

purpose of suicide risk assessment is to identify treatable and modifiable risks and protective factors that inform the patient's treatment and safety

Three people in my life have completed suicide; my uncle, my mom's late fiance, and my step brother on my dad's side, within four years of each
other. I've witnessed each parental figure in my life become compromised by grief and the inevitable pain accompanying it, and I've seen the way
depression can plague someone so deeply, even without the ending of suicide. The prevalence and growing numbers of deaths by suicide calls for a
revised manner of education on all mental illnesses and the preventative measures one can take to reduce risk. Initially, when I heard of the Suicide

There are several risk factors that put Joanne at High Risk for suicide. She states that she did not want to stay and talk, but that she "just wanted to go
for a drive" and has a gun in the car, so she is at a high risk given the methods and accessibility to those methods (Jackson–Cherry & Erford, 2018). She
has previous suicide attempts, while there is no time frame on when those prior attempts took place, it places her in at a moderate risk at the very
least (if 1 to 5 years ago) (Jackson–Cherry & Erford, 2018). She does not report loneliness or hopelessness at this current moment, but given her
history of depression, past divorce and no significant other, admissions of guilt over an affair, having no hobbies and getting "all her satisfaction"
from work, it is likely that she has or current is experiencing some level of loneliness, and her past attempts are potentially indicative of hopelessness;
all these factors put her at a minimum of a moderate risk, but further information would probably lead to a high risk. The divorce, lack of relationship

their own lives for many reasons. Some may kill themselves in response to depression or feelings of hopelessness or as a final way to escape from an

I enjoyed reading your post and agree with your comment that knowing the population to be served is a key indicator for success. I was particularly
impressed in this case study that they recognized the fear their patients might have regarding receiving official mail due to their immigration status
(Dlugacz, 2006). This is something I had not considered prior to reading this case.
I thought your ideas for improvement were very insightful, particularly with regard to the number of teen suicides and the number of opioid
prescriptions written. I was interested to see how significant these issues are in my state and I am sad to report that according to the Utah department
of health (2016), Utah has the 7th highest drug overdose rate in the country, reportedly 80 percent of Heroin users started with prescription pain kills
and 6 people die every week in Utah from opioid overdose (www.opidemic.org) .Suicide is the 8th leading cause of death in Utah. Utah ranks in the
top ten states in the nation for high suicide rates and suicide is the number one cause of death for youth ages 10–17. This statistic surprised me; I
thought the leading cause of death for this age group would be accidents (Utah Suicide Prevention Plan 2017–2021). I have lived in Utah most of my
