The Lucas Group Process


Our process has 4 distinct phases:

•   Phase 1: Data Collection

•   Phase 2: Professional Development and Training

•   Phase 3: Transition

•   Phase 4: Follow Up and Continuous Contact
Phase 1: Data Collection

Start collecting your file documents for submittal once you are within one year of
   separation. A complete file consists of:

•   Application Form: This is the most important document initially and provides me a
    base level of knowledge on your background and provides me with a profile I can save
    in our database.

•   Evaluation Reports: Copies of 4 most recent OER’s, EVALS, FITREPS – etc. (if don’t
    have that many, as many as you do have). This is part of our due diligence to validate
    credentials and gain insight that can help us market you to companies.

•   Transcripts: A copy (not originals) of your college transcripts if you have a degree.

•   Resume: A working copy of your resume as a Word document and chronological
    format. (See example in TTP)

•   Photo: An optional, casual photo is helpful for us to put a face to a name.
Phase 2: Professional Development 

This will include getting to know you and your career goals. We will conduct
   interview training and resume development at base visits, electronically via
   email, and by phone.

•   Getting to Know You: We will have an in depth discussion about your background and
    everything that is important to you regarding your career search. Your career
    preferences and parameters will be what drives the entire process.

•   Self-Directed Preparation: Start by reading the Transitional Training Packet cover to
    cover. Find the recommended reading list and get a couple of books that relate to fields
    that you might be interested in and read them. Do your reading first and then transition
    to writing out answers to the interview questions in the TTP.

•   Recruiter-Directed Preparation: This will include mock interviews and resume scrubs
    with your candidate recruiter. This will start 3-6 months prior to separation depending on
    your planned attendance at a Lucas Group conference.
Phase 3: Transition

Conference Attendance, Individual Interviews, Follow-Up Interviews and
  Job Offers. This will start 90 days before you can start work.

•   Conference Attendance: This is where you get your biggest bang for your
    buck. Our conferences will provide you the chance to get in front of world
    class companies for formal job interviews. We schedule 30-40 conference a
    year in Dallas (Southwest Region), Chicago (Midwest Region), Atlanta
    (Southeast Region), DC (Mid Atlantic and Northeast Region), and Irvine / San
    Francisco (West Coast).

•   Individual Interviews: These are primarily geared toward candidates that are
    severely restricted by their geographic parameters. They are less efficient
    than conference interviews but certainly will get you in front of great
    companies and are a service we provide to candidates that put location first
    among their search parameters.
Phase 3: Transition (continued)

•   Follow-Up Interviews: A typical interview process involves one or
    more follow-up interviews after the Hiring Conference. We will
    coordinate all follow-ups and thoroughly brief you to ensure you are
    fully prepared before going to visit a company.

•   Feedback: Lucas Group will conduct a thorough debrief after each
    interview with both you and the company and continue to move the
    process forward as long as there is continued mutual interest.

•   Offer: We will help you from the start of the interview process all the
    way up to negotiating and accepting an offer.
Phase 4: Follow Up

Lucas Group believes in establishing long term relationships as a career
  transition partner, well before you transition and well into your civilian
  career.

•   First 90 days: After your first 90 days in the new job, we will check in with you
    to ensure you are experiencing a smooth transition.

•   Periodic Updates: We will continue to maintain contact with you over the
    months and years throughout your civilian career.

•   Future Assistance: Many of the hiring managers that we work with are
    former Lucas Group candidates. We look forward to assisting you with your
    future hiring needs when you are in a position to add more talent to your team!
