The town of Poblacion was founded on January 08, 1858 with the establishment of the Parish Church by the Dominican Fathers of Manaoag. The first priest, Rev. Fr. Nicolas Alonzo Marique, constructed an initial wooden church that was later demolished in 1945. In 1884, Rev. Rafael Cano laid the foundation for a larger brick church, though it was never completed. The present cement church was erected in 1954 following the earlier foundation. Some of the first families to settle in Poblacion included the Del Prado, Alonzos, Manangans, Sipins, and Rosarios. The site of the current Magic Mall was previously a plaza donated by the Del Prado family
