This document discusses the concept of love as described in the Bible. It provides several definitions of love from passages such as 1 Corinthians 13:6. Love is described as not taking pleasure in injustice but rather rejoicing in the truth. It does not delight in evil or wrongdoing but finds joy in righteousness. True love treasures truth, celebrates good behavior, and promotes virtue. The document emphasizes that to exhibit God's love means having God's perspective on sin and righteousness by sorrowing over sin but rejoicing at truth and virtue.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

4. Introduction
If you are an American, what
privileges will you have, how will
you behave?
We are heaven’s citizen. Philippians
3:20
1 John 4: 8
5. As Practiced.
Opposite of Love.
Self Love, Self crush etc. Romans
13:9-10, John 13:34-35, 1John4: 16-
19
Philippians 2:3-4
Love is best expressed when…
6. Doesn’t Revel
When Others
Grovel
1 Cor 13:6
Doesn't revel (enjoy oneself in a lively and noisy
way, especially with drinking and dancing.) when
others grovel (to give oneself over to what is base
or unworthy), Takes pleasure in the flowering of
truth. (MSG)
Does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the
truth. (NKJV)
It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the
truth [when right and truth prevail]. (AMP)
Iniquity of self or others.
7. 13:4-6
Does not delight in evil but rejoices with
the truth.
Love loves the truth.
Love does not love evil.
It does not rejoice at wrongdoing. ESV
Love does not enjoy or “delight in”
dirty/sinful/careless actions; rather, true
love finds joy in truth and
righteousness.
8. Proper
attitude
concerning
truth.
The “blessed” person despises evil but loves
God’s truth, reflecting upon it constantly.
Psalm 1:1-2.
God does not delight in wickedness.
The God who is love (1 john 4:8) delights in
what is true and just.
God does not ignore our sin just because He
loves us.
It is because of His great love that He
provided the means of cleansing our sin in
Christ. 1John 4:10.
9. True Love
rejoices.
In what is right and good.
Anything that covers up sin or seeks to justify
wrongdoing is the polar opposite of Godly love.
Love does not sweep sin under the rug.
Love does not try to find ways to get away with bad
behavior, and it does not put up with injustice.
1. It treasures truth.
2.Celebrates good behavior.
3.Promotes virtue.
4.True love has nothing to hide.
10. Love does
not.
“not delight in evil” carries the idea of
not gloating over someone else’s guilt.
It is common for people to rejoice when
an enemy is found guilty of a crime or
caught in a sin. This is not love.
Love rejoices in the virtue of others, not
in their vices.
Sin is an occasion for sorrow, not for joy.
11. In Conclusion.
To exhibit God’s kind of love, we must have
God’s perspective on sin and righteousness.
The better we understand love, the more we
will sorrow over those who commit sin.
The more we love the truth, the better we
can love those around us.
Show love to people around you and
amongst us. By this shall all men know we
are his disciples, Not only by Evangelizing
and Knocking on doors.
12. This is who we are, This is who I am
• I am Heaven’s Citizen! I am God’s, totally God’s.
• I am God’s Representative Here on the Earth! He finds expression through me.
• I am the House that God is Building! I am a living stone, fitted together with
other believers into the House of God!
• I belong to God’s Kingdom! I am a Son of God, A Heir of God, a Joint Heir with
Christ.
• I have no personal AGENDA! God’s Will is my Agenda!
• I have no personal AMBITION! God’s Service is my Ambition!
• I am Crucified with Christ! The Life I now live is Christ’s! I live by the FAITH of
the SON of God who Loved me, and Gave himself for ME!
• Jesus is my Lord! He is the VINE, I am a BRANCH! I bear fruit when I abide in
Him. I ABIDE in JESUS!
• I am a member of the body of Christ. I am not of HCCC, Not of Apollo and not
of Paul. I am of Christ.
