In its efforts to increase professionalism and promote the success of those in the door and access system industry, the International Door Association (IDA) offers several programs and events, including its annual trade show and exposition. The organization also supports members' families through its IDA Scholarship program. Open to IDA members' immediate families as well as members' employees and their immediate families, the IDA Scholarship program provides up to $2,000 to help cover the cost of attending a state-approved college, university, or trade school. Eligible applicants can apply for the IDA's Primary Full-Time Undergraduate Scholarship or Secondary Part-Time Undergraduate Scholarship, which are for full-time (at least 9 semester hours) and part-time (below 9 semester hours) students, respectively. Full-time scholarship recipients can receive up to $2,000 once per academic year, and part-time scholarship recipients can receive up to $1,000 once per academic year. Recipients of either scholarship can re-apply annually and receive up to four scholarship awards. Eligible applicants are selected by the IDA Scholarship Selection Committee based on grades, documented community service, a personal statement, and three letters of recommendation from non-family members. Applications for the IDA Scholarship program open each spring. More information about eligibility requirements and the application process is available at www.doors.org/ida-scholarship.
