A four-year starting point guard on the Salisbury University basketball team, David Garafola earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the school in 1979 and soon after began working as a business manager responsible for campus operations and capital construction with Towson University. David Garafola worked at the school in various finance-based capacities until 1993 and, while serving as associate vice president for auxiliary enterprises, earned an MBA from the University of Baltimore. Leveraging his education and 13 years of experience, David Garafola joined the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1993 as vice president of financial affairs.
