The Importance Of Ethcentrism In Culture
and practices are right and everything that differs from ours is wrong or abnormal (–––––). In the example above, ethnocentrism is represented by
Christa's position who assumed that the American engagement tradition which involves a ring is –and should be– the norm for cultures around the
world. Taking an ethnocentric stance involves the existence of a parameter for every behavior and action we encounter and we can use it to determine
whether it is right or wrong. However, we cannot really define such parameter without appealing to our values, norms, and behaviors. In other words,
without appealing to our culture. Furthermore, all cultures carry biases since they are developed in a specific context influenced by external and
internal factors that change according to time and place. Since conditions vary, culture varies. What arguments could we use to set up my culture as a
model for others since the context within it was developed it just different? Clearly, Christa's attitude would have been different if she was born in a
Zulu tribe. Although we cannot claim that this attitude is wrong because everybody carries some cultural biases that we are not even aware of.
Additionally, since these biases are shared they bring cohesion to the group (D. Zigelsky, class discussion, August 30, 2017). However, we must be
aware that extreme ethnocentrism can lead to negative outcomes such as racism, xenophobia, and war. In anthropology, ethnocentrism is problematic

The Importance Of Rape Culture
Enculturation is a gradual process by which individuals learn how to adapt to the norms within a society. Social norms stand as principles that are
understood by aggregate individuals to manage their behaviours; therefore, culture is a set of accepted behaviours (Cachon, 2017). In the 1970's, during
the second wave of feminism, woman activists in the United States popularized the rape culture approach (Cole, 2017). Rape culture is present in a
society when rape and other forms of sexual violence are fueled by social norms; normally, these acts are excused when committed by men against
women (Cole, 2017). The position of women within this domain is clear; "men systematically target women for acts of sexual objectification,
degradation, and abuse" (Ezzell, 2008). Women are submissive to a sexist society. One of the most powerful aspects of socialization that provide a
dominant male culture is the universal media (Ezzell, 2008). This paper will argue to clearly identify the elements of rape culture while illustrating
how today's media promotes it.
Rape Culture silences rape and sexual violence against women in the media and surrounding popular culture when these attacks are standardized and
pardoned (Ezzell, 2008). In today's society, sexual assault jokes referencing rape culture are promoted throughout many films. More specifically, in
2007, a comedy film by the name of Superbad was released. This movie revolves around two high school best friends, Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan

The Importance Of My Culture
All around the world there exists a myriad of many different cultures. Each differs from the next with unique characteristics that pertain to that specific
culture. In spite of all the unique differences that make my culture mine and your culture yours. We all share commonalities in how we interact with
each other. We let common principles and values influence and shape our interactions with those around us. It is also based upon those principles and
values how we integrate and categorize individuals. Music is a perfect example of this. Being the universal language of the world, music has a great
deal of influence on not only how we interact within our culture but also how we integrate. And is a perfect representation of where we are in culture
and in society.
For thousands of years music has been an integral component to our creativity and development. Music serves as an escape route for many of us.
Its somewhere where you can leave your most complex and personal thoughts for the world to see, or better yet listen. Or it can be where you let
your mind float off into the tranquil melodic vibes of the song. Have you ever played one of your favorite songs and immediately felt your skin
tighten up as hundreds of goosebumps emerged? I believe music is an art of its own as it is an outlet that gives you the power to express yourself
and allow others to perceive and appreciate your art. It is a mirror of your emotions and aspirations. It is no wonder why we can't live without

The Importance Of Culture And Diversity
Diversity and culture have been one of the topics that really captivate my attention in this class so far. Since my relocation to America years ago, I
have been trying to see if there is any way I can relate culture to diversity. I have been trying to see if my culture can really help me to adapt to the
way of leaving in this diverse country. While myculture has taught me how to respect individual differences, value human life, appreciate the
existence of people in my life, believe life after death, believe in the existence of God and much more but how can I relate it to other cultures, if there
is no diversity. While many people believe that culture and diversity are two different things but to me, the question is "can diversity occur without
culture"?
While culture represents a society's characteristics by means of a social phenomenon, diversity talk about individual differences. When we talk about
diversity, we discuss how people of the same culture may have different beliefs, belongs to a different gender, background and many other features.
Culture is man–made things while diversity is something biological and in short, I will say diversity can be something natural. Culture is whole things
that include beliefs, art knowledge, law, morals, customs and any other things that can be acquired by an individual as a member of a society.
As said earlier, culture is not something inherited biologically but something that is socially acquired. Culture in a certain community

The Importance Of The Geek Culture
Today Geek Culture is a widely acknowledged sub–culture across the world. Technology and media are ever changing and the Geek Culture reflects
the changes with the acceptance of "nerds", "otaku", and the "dweeb". Though mostly meant as derogatory terms they are now seen as acceptable jokes
that are popular in this moment of history. Nerds are the socially awkward and intelligent population the term is also interchangeable with its outdated
counterpart dweeb. Otaku was used to insult adults who enjoyed anime that though not meant for children was still considered cartoons therefore
childish; but now many refer to themselves as an otaku.
Though accepted common stereotypes about the culture and its population still persist. The most prominent misconceptions include the belief that
otaku are nothing but lazy, incompetent men that are all N.E.E.T. or hikikomori, not in education employment or training and someone who shuts
themselves in there room away from society respectively, that don't contribute to society in any meaningful way. Some believe that everything otaku
related is like a cancer infecting and affecting the "healthy "parts of society which is like calling it criminal to be an otaku. The perverted, lazy, and
deadbeat otaku only make up the smallest but most visible portion of otaku society.
The prevalent stereotypes about the otaku/anime fans is easily viewed when typing in google "why are anime fans..." or "why are otakus..." and the
autocomplete fills in with so ugly,

The Importance Of DN Culture
Introduction
"Accelerate your Life" "Global Force for Good" and "America's Navy" all have been slogans for the DON (Faram, 2017). These all show a side or
aspect of the Navy though in the following paragraphs I will guide you on why I believe that the US DON culture is the cause for the resent deaths
of sailors this summer. The reason why I am interested in this group is because I have served/worked for this group for nearly a dozen years.
Body:
How the organization prevents and responds to problematic and antisocial behaviors? On a national level for media the DON got caught in an amateur
pornography case in which how the medium was taken and distributed came under fire (Cauterucci, 2017). This has been an issue for years not just ...

Fraternization violates both courage and commitment. Courage violated by willful neglect to do what is right, while commitment is violated by the
fact that a person of leadership is inappropriately mentoring a junior person. You can put any of these into a web search engine and return with dozens
of articles agreeing that these four pillars of an ethically down trodden organization is very much part of the DON.
Ethical concepts came to a cusp so much so that the forty–first President of the United States George H. W. Bush signed Executive Order 12674 (Bush,
1989) into law detailing the proper conduct of government official to include but not limited to the DON. All of the examples thus far violate this

Importance Of Culture In The Philippines
The Philippines is a vibrant nation full of life and color but what makes the Philippines stand out above the rest is the culture that defines it. In
Kim Zimmerman's article "What is Culture," she defines culture as "characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing
language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music, and arts." (Zimmerman, 2017) Although the Philippines has a large variety of cultural norms and
values, the most prominent aspects of their culture are the country's spoken language, religious beliefs, foods, social habits, and the arts. The
multiple languages and dialects spoken in the country is the clear form of communication and the best way to be involved into a country's culture.
Religion is a strong characteristic to be a part of in any country. Religious views use faith and beliefs to create a spiritually, strong bond within
people. The type of cuisine made and eaten in a country is significant because it represents the traditions of the culture by maintaining the
authenticity of the foods they eat. Social habits create a standard for the way norms and issues are taken care of in everyday life. The arts bring out
the creativity and imagination a country's culture has to offer. A country's culture is much more the distinctions between other nations. It is a
gateway to the heart and soul of the people and the Philippines demonstrates just how powerful culture can be for their nation as well as the rest of
the world. The Republic of the Philippines is one of the most popular countries in the Pacific Asia. The Philippines is a country made of many
beautiful islands and vacation hot spots that attract many tourists. Filipinos are known for their positive attitudes and hospitable characteristics. They
are known for a huge variety of food in which many people travel the globe to visit. They have many popular attractions like the perfect cone shaped
Mayon Volcano, the underground reef of Palawan and the amazing beaches of Boracay and El Nido. The Philippines has about 70 to 80 different
dialects with Tagalog, Cebuano, and Ilocano being the most popular dialects (Culture of the Philippines, 2017). English is also spoken in the

The Importance Of Culture On My Culture
My culture is the Netflix and/or binge–watching culture. This culture has a variety of different elements that are within it. These elements each have
their own importance to how they impact my culture. Also, without any of these elements it would change the culture completely.
To begin, the first element is the values of my culture. Values are the principles or standards that society uses to make judgments. One of the values
associated with Netflix is modification. Netflix is always being modified so that the viewers could see newly released shows as well as movies.
Movies and TV shows are always being produced as well as what is trending in the country and world. Another value is variation, this allows subscribers
to have an unlimited number of movies and TV shows to watch. On the Netflix website, the values they used to convey themselves was judgment,
productivity, creativity, intelligence, honesty, communication, selflessness, reliability and passion. I think these all represent the company very well.
The next element to my culture is beliefs. Beliefs are the opinions or theories that people accept. Some of the beliefs associated with the beliefs of
Netflix are the 5–star rating system that is used to measure the quality of the show. The higher number of stars the better the movie/show should be.
This is also based on a consensus so even if it has a high rating you still might not like the movie/show and vis versa. Another belief is that Netflix is
more for watching movies not necessary TV shows like Hulu offers. Some other TV/movie online media streaming websites are: Amazon Prime, Hulu,
Sling TV, HBO Now, etc.
Knowledge is the ability to be informed and understand concepts to help people through life. There are several types of knowledge someone needs to
understand when they use Netflix one of which is how to use the technology. From how to properly run a computer to how to run Netflix and navigate
through the app. Another is the ability to understand the language the show is in, and if it's not offered in someone's first language then you can put
the subscripts on so you can understand it. Its also important to know release dates or dates that shows will be removed from Netflix.

The Importance Of School Culture
School Culture flows from the traditions, goals, values, vision, and motto of a school system. Culture is the elastic that binds students, teachers,
support staff and administrators together and it has a profound impact on the learning environment. The role of the school principal is paramount in
ensuring that the mechanism of culture is present and evident within the halls, celebrations and ceremonies of the institutions. School principals play a
significant role in shaping the culture of the modern day educational institution, and their leadership can bolster or hinder progressive education:
through various behaviors such as modeling and reinforcing, social skills, promoting communication and positive relationships as well as encouraging
strong partnership with all stakeholders.
The Cambridge English Dictionary (2017) defines culture by the way of life of a particular people, as shown in their ordinary behavior and habits, their
attitudes toward each other, and their moral and religious beliefs: On the other hand culture is defined by Schein (2016) as the concept of structural
stability, depth, breadth, and patterning or integration that results from the fact that culture is formulated by learned behaviors endorsed by a group of
individuals as excepted norms and standards. Depending on the lenses from which an individual experiences culture, culture can be interpreted
differently from conventional meanings; therefore, for the purposes of this paper, cultural is inclusive

The Importance Of Language On Culture
Pamela Wance
ENGL 1010–48
10/25/2017
The Way We Speak Language is the universal connection that brings all humans together. We share this common ground to communicate. The three
major points that I would like to focus on are: How does language influence our culture? Does it define us, or does it refine us? And lastly, the impact
that language has on our societies. Language has gradually advanced over many millions of years. Slang has developed, and other cultures languages
and quirks have made their way in, and it has become one. Language has a way of shaping our identities, and personal cultures. It brings us together,
and sometimes it even makes us move apart.
There has been a long debate on whether language has an impact on cultures, and with much research from linguistic specialist, and professors the
debate has been solved to say that, yes, in fact that language has an impact on cultures. In an article called, "Does Language influence culture?"
Johnathan Becher makes a statement about how differences in each language seems to impact the behaviors, and how everyone interprets their
surroundings. It is amazing how simple language comes off to be, and yet it can be so advanced. It impacts each culture differently; Johnathan Becher
said that the way Russians express colors is more advanced than most others. They can express the difference between light blues, and dark blues in a
very descriptive way. The extensive details can be results of each culture being

The Importance Of Culture On The Culture Of Nepal
Pre–interation
Nepal is known to be a multi–religious country with religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Muslim, Christianity and other religions found there.
However, 80 percent of the population of Nepal practices Hinduism. Which leads me to believe that the Hinduism has to have a great impact on the
culture of Nepal. Hinduism is a male dominated religion and women often play a secondary role. There are many restrictive conditions that a Nepali
Hindu woman has to live by. However, there is overwhelming respect for women because they considered gifts from the gods and aspects of pure
energy. Hindus believe in the idea of karma and rebirth, the idea that each is reincarnated so that the soul can be purified.
Orientation
Upon getting this assignment I immediately thought of doing it on Nepal's culture. I had been intrigued each time my co–worker, Aastha, would share
her stories about her home. I presumed this would be the perfect opportunity to learn more their practices. I believe they are some similarities between
Nepali and Haitian culture in the sense that both could be viewed as having stricter values than the western culture that most of us is familiar with. But
more importantly the way that religion is embedded within the culture is the most comparable. I believe that's where the similarities ended and the
differences began. Upon asking Aastha if she would be interested in being interviewed she immediately began to plan what we could discussed. She

Organizational Culture and Its Importance
There is no single definition for organizational culture. The topic has been studied from a variety of perspectives ranging from disciplines such as
anthropology and sociology, to the applied disciplines of organizational behaviour, management science, and organizational communication. Some of
the definitions are listed below:
A set of common understandings around which action is organized; finding expression in language whose nuances are peculiar to the group (Becker
and Geer 1960).
A set of understandings or meanings shared by a group of people that are largely tacit among members and are clearly relevant and distinctive to the
particular group which are also passed on to new members (Louis 1980).
A system of knowledge, of standards for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The explicit social products produced by subcultures within organizations can be widely diverse and even result in countercultures.
Countercultures can have both productive and unproductive outcomes. Perhaps the key to a counterculture's success (i.e., the promulgation of its
ideology, values and norms) is the group's ability to demonstrate how its idiosyncrasies are consonant with the core ideologies, values and norms of the
dominant culture.
THE SYMBIOSIS BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATION'S OVERALL CULTURE AND ITS SUBCULTURES
Some people may debate which comes first in an organization: the organizational culture or the organization's subcultures. The question that is relevant
to the definition of Organizational Culture is how do the ideologies, values, and norms of subcultures compliment the organizational culture advocated
by leadership? Explaining this relationship requires an understanding that cultures provide members with a reliable means to interpret a highly
ambiguous environment. It is the leader's responsibility to specify the features of the environment that are relevant to the organization and then provide
the supporting assumptions and rationale for its operating strategies.
The leader's cultural messages should address ambiguities that are beyond the scope of any organizational subculture to explain to employees.
Leaders should recognize that their cultural messages should specifically address cultural

Importance Of Culture In Egypt
Changing Times Egypt full of history and culture diverseness, throughout its ever changing landscape you first must define what is culture? Do you
identify it by the different regions? Religious beliefs? Maybe traditions? Generations as in any culture will pass down the customs and values of the
country teaching the younger generations the importance of their roots and ideas. As the country continues to grow and expand so will the culture, it is
ever changing with modernization of the country and the upcoming generations. Understanding the culture of a country can help you keep an open
mind and not come to conclusions and judge the perception of the country. Not one single thing defines a country's culture, the emphasis will be on its
military views, political and environment. Egypt has an area of 385,229 square miles, and the total population consists of 65,200,000 people. Two
things separate Egypt from its neighbors, the ocean or sparsely populated desert. (Hopkins & Saad, n.d.) The Mediterranean Sea lies to the north of the
country; therefore, the red sea lies directly south, and the western desert separates the country from Libya and North Africa. (Hopkins & Saad, n.d.) A
major terrain feature that sustains most of the population is the Nile River. Furthermore, the Nile begins at Lake Tana in Ethiopia, where it travels north,
eventually draining into the Mediterranean Sea. (Hopkins & Saad, n.d.) Although most people consider the Nile an

The Importance Of School Culture
As mentioned by Peterson, K. D., & Deal, T. E. (2009) when it comes to school culture there are many hidden or not visible aspects that need to be
considered. For example, we need to take in consideration things that will promote or affect commitment, productivity as well as motivation. As
Peterson, K. D., & Deal, T. E. (1999) mentioned, "School culture influences what people pay attention to (focus), how they identify with the school
(commitment), how hard they work (motivation), and the degree to which they achieve their goals (productivity)..." For instance something things that
we take for granted such as: manners, way we celebrate others, vision & mission, ways we even greet others and even the tone of voice we use might
set the wrong culture. Even though, we are all trying to catch up, we need to take our time to consider what is important and or might affect our school
community. Simple things such as greeting others, parents, students and staff member need to be our number one priority, having time to listen to their
problems, concerns as well as their ideas will also help us create a positive culture. We need to listen to those unsaid words, hidden messages, we need
to focus on what it is important, setting up the best learning/teaching/working opportunities for all community members. As school leaders we need to
understand, that our voice tone, facial gestures, comments as well as preoccupation for getting better professional development opportunities, parental
involment even the way we motivate others will become the mirror image we see in others.
Our school is doing many things to foster our vision and mission which is "All students are getting the best learning opportunities..." As part of this, the
school is running before and after school extended learning programs in which some students, those whose reading performance is under grade level,
will be invited and motivate to assist. Teachers are having conversations with parents to help them understand the importance of this initiative. Posters,
flyers as well as information had been sent home.
Another way that our school is trying to promote our vision and mission is through the Literacy Family Night program that is starting on Dec 7, 2017.

The Importance Of Culture And Organizational Culture
The importance of culture in the organization
The organization culture as a leadership concept has been identified as one of the many components that leaders can use to grow a dynamic
organization. Leadership in organizations starts the culture formation process by imposing their assumptions and expectations on their followers. Once
culture is established and accepted, they become a strong leadership tool to communicate the leader 's beliefs and values to organizational members,
and especially new comers. When leaders promote ethical culture, they become successful in maintaining organizational growth, the good services
demanded by the society, the ability to address problems before they become disasters and consequently are competitive against rivals. The leader 's
success will depend to a large extent, on his knowledge and understanding of the organizational culture. The leader who understands his organizational
culture and takes it seriously is capable of predicting the outcome of his decisions in preventing any anticipated consequences. What then is
organizational culture? The concept of organizational culture has been defined from many perspectives in the literature. There is no one single
definition for organizational culture. The topic of organizational culture has been studied from many perspectives and disciplines, such as

The Importance Of Culture Appropriation
Culture Appropriation is a relative topic throughout the world and has brought upon many debates for years. One specific ongoing debate is if writers
have the right to write about other cultures without being classified as culturally appropriated their culture. In "Who gets to Write What?" by Kaityln
Greenidge and "Dangerous Ideas" by Kenzie Allen, both authors discuss how writers should have the ability to freely write about what they want but
with resposnbility and without using stereotypes. Greenidge writes about how she witnessed someone's work being accused of culture appropriation and
her own struggles while Allen gives many examples of how pop culture is being appropriated. Greenidge does this through a personal narrative while
Allen does this through the use of exemplification. Even though both authors represent their argument on culture appropriation, Kaitlyn Greenidge is
more likely than Kenzie Allen to succeed in getting people to change their minds because her argument is clearer due to her organization, she uses
reliable sources which adds credibility, and uses personal narrative in order to make it more believable and appeal to the readers emotions.
Greenidge's standpoint on the argument is given in the beginning of her article, making her article very clear for the readers: "I can say that I felt so
strongly that Bill had to right to write that scene because he wrote it well" (Greenidge 4). This quote exemplifies how Greenidge explicitly states her

The Importance Of Greek Culture
Examining a culture one is not accustomed to can create a new found interest in the want to experience different ways of life. Greeks value family,
hospitality, patriotism, spirituality, their homeland, conversing with one another and stranger alike, the beauty of the land, and the feeling of being
home. Traveling outside of the United States, wherever it may be, broadens a person's prospective of what different cultures deem meaningful in life.
I am beyond grateful and excited to learn a new way of life and to be able to incorporate these new experiences into the American customs.
Thinking about the traditional Greek person, I typically think blonde hair, blue eyes, and tall stature. Conversely, this could not be farther from the
truth. Racial mixing came as a result of many centuries of war and hardships between foreign regions. A few things that remain persistent in a Greek
is the curiosity of all aspects of life, the feeling and need for adventure, and a warm heart. Despite racial mixing, the traditions of Greek ancestry live
on in the lives of the people that fill Greece today. Another component that emphasizes the Greek person is the land. It is rather easy to acknowledge
the beauty of the Greek landscape, but fully accepting the impact it has on someone is another story. The soil that Greece is built upon is said to be
poor, but the sight of the landscape is known to be breathtaking. I had never really thought about the land shaping the lives of the people who call

The Importance Of School Culture
Symbolic Frame A school's culture is displayed and conveyed through its symbols. Symbols can take many forms in schools including myth, vision,
and values, which give the school purpose and resolve. Rituals and ceremonies offer bearing while metaphor, humor, and play keep the environment
lighthearted. Heroes and heroines, through words and deeds, serve as living logos. Each of these symbols play a role in the function and well–being of
a school system (Bolman and Deal, 2013).
Induction into School Culture When beginning as a teacher at Shallowater High School, I was inducted into the culture through peer mentoring and
inclusion activities. Through conversations peer preparation for school norms and customs, I was introduced to the culture. As each new teacher is
assigned three mentor teachers for the year, these mentor teachers help assimilate the new teachers into specific functions expectations. Additionally,
the administrators ensure that the weekly newsletter is very specific and details for every weekly activity. Counselors and secretaries also seek to

The Importance Of Japanese Culture
Japans society is a culture that is highly resistant to change; a society that places a high value on each member's conformity within highly
structured layers of Japanese society. Japan is an island nation, consisting of the four large islands of Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu.
Together they are approximately the size of Germany or the State of California, and it has a population of approximately 126 million people Japan
has a large population in relation to its land mass and as a consequence most Japanese people live crowded together in an urban corridor squeezed
along the eastern edge of the Japanese islands. A result of this crowding is that Japanese place a high value on public harmony and the avoidance of
any conflict, especially in public. Japanese norms require people to be willing to apologize and humble themselves, so much so that even after a
minor auto accident each driver will jump out of their vehicle and bow to each other and apologize, instead of risking a very public confrontation.
Frequently, Japanese will also employ the use of a go–between to negotiate a possible marriage. In this way, an individual can turn down a bride or
groom without rejecting them to their face, thereby avoiding open disagreement or embarrassment of an individual. The Japanese culture is one that is
rich within an historical and traditional context. Many of the traditional practices established hundreds of years ago can be seen today in modern Japan
and are a direct reflection

The Importance of Language and Culture
The importance of language is a repeated trend throughout history. The lack of language weighs negatively on an individual's intellect and the
acquisition of language feeds the development of one's cultural identity. The greatest historical conquest began in the realm of linguistic turmoil.
Examples of this are vast in the capturing of American Americans slaves, and injustice towards the Native Americans on the home front. The captured
people were taken from a variety of tribes speaking different native tongues to insure communication barriers resulting in the slaves not being able to
overtake the ship or rally an uprising. The linguistic and cultural differences lead to the manipulation of the semantics of agreements, which lead to
many Native Americans to lose their land. The British taken continentally instilled linguistic control over people from India to Southern Africa. British
forcefully mandated the educational system be taught in English therefore ultimately taking over the languacultural acquisition of the continent of
India's future. The pedagogy of language is connected to perpetuation of culture, traditions, and social norms. The Deaf community is another example
of the importance of language acquisition throughout history. The impact of how a deaf child is educated impacts more than that deaf child alone but

Importance Of Culture In Nursing
Bosnian Culture Implications for Nursing
Care of Children and Families
Being culturally aware is necessary in all professions; it is important to know what to expect and how to deal with individuals that don't think like us
and have different beliefs than us. One profession where being culturally aware is especially important is nursing. Nurses must know how to help their
patients in a way that is both therapeutic and professional, and to do this they must understand what their patient is thinking and what is important to
them. The Giger and Davidhizar Transcultural Nursing Assessment Framework gives a framework of six areas that should be focused on when
working with different cultures. In this paper, we will specifically be looking at the children and families of the Bosnian culture. We will also be looking
at some implications and interventions of nursing care from the assessment of the culture.
Giger and Davidhizar Framework
The Giger and Davidhizar Transcultural Nursing Assessment Framework consists of six factors that the nurse should pay attention to: communication,
space, social organization, time, environmental control, and biological factors (Giger & Davidhizar, 2002).
Communication
While verbally communicating seems like the easiest form of interacting with the patient, there are many other ways that are more effective. The way
you speak, including voice quality, tone of voice, and pronunciation are all extremely important and can help the patient to easily

The Importance Of Deaf Culture
It is quite a task to identify oneself within a "culture" due to the unique social, behavioral, and physical traits each culture represents themselves with.
As I began learning about the hallmarks of Deaf culture such as "language, heritage art and history", I began wondering about how the historical
significance of each one impacted the modern choices of Deaf individuals (Holcomb 17). Our textbook Introduction to American Deaf Culture makes
references to how important American Sign Language is to define the Deaf community which leaves me wondering how strong the foundation of Deaf
culture would be if based on heritage rather than on language. Being Jewish I never learned Hebrew but knew all the prayers, values, and traditions to

Language never played in a role in how people viewed me as a Jewish youth nor did people believe I was not culturally experienced because I could
not hold a conversation in a certain language. The Jewish people went through oppression both in the stories I grew up learning as well as historical
events like the Holocaust which emotionally changed the lives of the Jewish population to this day and for years to come. The point of my
experience as a Jewish individual is to lay the idea of how I grew up feeling appreciated by my population without a language and how the community
I grew up with experienced oppression much as the Deaf community faced and show how the events we endured made our culture stronger in the long
run. I believe that much like the Jewish people, Deaf people show the same pride in their community because of the oppression they faced and how the
pride they feel is attributed more to their history than to language.
When thinking about the historical impact against the Deaf community, the primary instance that arises in my head is the oralist movement which
was supported by hearing people like Alexander Graham Bell. Many people opposed the idea of "Deaf Culture" and wanted to move Deaf children
away from traditional ASL by teaching lip reading and speech to children instead of allowing them to use ASL in schools. While many could argue that
this example proves

The Importance Of Chinese Culture
The country I would like to teach in would be in China, specifically Shenzhen. Chinese culture is vast and unique and has been changed through many
factors throughout history. Mainland China is a beautiful place right next to to the equally beautiful Hong Kong. Shenzhen itself has been influenced
by western culture just like Hong Kong has, but with its roots in the mainland, it still maintains its policies and traditions. It's culture can be considered
a hybrid of both Mainland and Hong Kong China due to proximity.
In China, there's the culture you see on the surface and the culture you see below the surface. There are many real world lifestyle differences that
can be perceived and even more that must be experienced. When moving to China, you will first encounter surface level cultural differences, some
of which being population density and dress expectations. Population in China is vastly different and much denser than the U.S. or most places in
the world for that matter. "China has over 160 cities with a population of over 1 million" as stated by the University of Missouri, Kansas City. In
China, dressing is much different as well, clothing styles that would be considered the norm in America can be considered taboo in China. In the U.S.
showing some skin is perfectly acceptable due to the general agreement body confidence is good. But if you wear something revealing (e.g. a crop
top), it comes with a very negative connotation, people asssuming your in a lucrative

Culture And Values And Importance Of Organizational Culture
Organizational culture is a set of shared norms and values that describes an organization (Ashworth P., 2015). Organizational culture is the only true
and unique identifier (Ashworth P., 2015). It can be compared to finger prints, as it can be similar, but still unique compared to other organizations
(Ashworth P., 2015). Products, innovations, strategies etc. can be replicated, but not an organization's culture (Ashworth P., 2015). For customers,
suppliers, employees, and all other stakeholders, it is culture that differentiates one organization from the other (Ashworth P., 2015). Importance of

(2017). Rober Glazer provides three approaches for managers to make sure that organizational culture and employees fit and the approaches are to
implement personality tests to discover purpose and to assess where the employees are right now, to rethink employee development, to make good use
of employee transitions and exits and to understand that priority should be given to candidates who have the ability to grow rather than ones who have
experience and fits the company but do not have the room to grow when the company does (Glazer, R., 2017). Concluding thoughts I believe in order
to create a strong positive culture, it is important to have a clearly communicated mission, vision and organizational goals. Having a mission and vision
statement doesn't serve the entire purpose. It needs to be communicated and each employee should know how exactly they can contribute to
it.Employees feel motivated, if they feel that their contributions are important and makes a difference. In a strong positive organizational culture, each
employee improves performance by coordinating their behavior towards the organizational goals. In the current situation with continuous changes in
the market and uncertainity, it is easy for employees to lose focus. But, with a strong positive culture, employees will be able to develop flexibility to
face the challenges as their motivation to achieve the organizational goals are higher than the feeling to resist change. A culture to

The Importance Of Indigenous Cultures In The Hawaiian Culture
Around the world, there are many Indigenous groups having practiced their own traditional cultures. Through the history and following globalisation,
traditional cultures have gradually disappeared. For example, in Japan, there are Ainu people had established their own culture, but they were
assimilated to Japanese culture because of the annexation to Japan in the mid–1800s. Therefore, until recently, they have used the Japanese language
and been educated and lived as Japanese. However, there are many traditional cultures which have still practiced over the time. Those existing cultures
may be more significant than those cultures that have disappeared. Particularly, Indigenous performing arts tend to be survived over the time and
actively protected to preserve. This essay will argue that Indigenous dance and chant have had significant roles to Indigenous people in many aspects.
Firstly, this essay will examine hula's several roles among the Hawaiian culture and society in the past and current. Secondly, it will focus on the
relationship between haka and the Maori's mentality and spirituality over the time. Finally, it will investigate Ainu chant, yukar, and its particular
changes of importance to the Ainu.
Hula, Hawaiian dances, has had changes in its roles and meanings. In the past, hula had many roles in the Hawaiian culture. As Indigenous cultures
around the world often have sacred dances, hula was also sacred and religious dance to the Hawaiian. Indeed, hula was

Importance Of Culture In Anthropology
Culture and society is a very important part of anthropology. Although the way that anthropologist view these terms may be different that what other
people view them as. Culture from an anthropology is shared behaviors, trends, beliefs, and rituals. It gives meaning and is shaped by our experiences.
Where according to the dictionary, culture is the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievements regarded collectivity. It is quite
similar, but in ways very different. When you talk about culture in classes or to others, many view it as you belong to one certain culture. For
example, when people ask what was the culture like in a place that you have visited, they assume that there is one belief that is practiced, or a religious
practice.
From an anthropology prospective, society is groups of internal and external relations are governed by rules, preform a variety of function, and which
endure beyond lives of their constituent. An interest in society has more to do with understanding the way that people associate with one another and
how activity is organized. Outside an anthropology perspective, there is two main ways that people would define society. One is a group of people
living together in a community, otherwise known as a community or the general public. Where the other is an organization or a club, like the national
honors society.

The Importance Of Military Culture And Cultures
Military personnel have the unique opportunity to experience many different societies and cultures. For many of us, we experience this upon initial
enlistment as we are indoctrinated into the Army. Military personnel come from all walks of life. All with different values, morals, experiences,
traditions and beliefs. Culture is what defines us and categories individuals. As human beings, we are constantly analyzing and putting labels on people.
Observe a roomful of newly introduced people. You will notice how people begin to form groups based off of race, gender, interests and other
commonalities. Categorization in the pursuit to understand cultures can be beneficial.
In our reading, Cross Culture, The Lewis Model by Richard D. Lewis, the case for categorization is made as it enables one to: "predict a cultures
behavior, clarify why people did what they did, avoid giving offence, search for some kind of unity, to standardize policies, and to perceive neatness and
order". Leaders must develop themselves and their subordinates to become culturally sensitive and aware. United States military personnel are
ambassadors and representatives of the American people and are often tasked with carrying out our National policies. Our frontline interaction with
cultures enable us the unique opportunity to forge, develop or damage relationships with other cultures. These interactions can have positive or
negative repercussions.

The Importance Of Rape Culture
Sitting in my living room next to my perfectly decorated tree and "Baby it's cold outside" by Frank Loesser popped on the radio. What I always found
to be a fun Christmas song has become tainted by my feministic ideals, and hatred for the rape culture that has persisted through the years. The lyrical
dance of the woman saying she really should go, the man coaxing her to stay, the so very complicated line about what is in that drink. Outside the
context of the 1940s these things are a veritable sexual harassment public service announcement. However, when you consider the history of the 1940's
slang and expectations of women the message becomes more about female empowerment. Baby it's cold outside is both a song about an empowered
woman giving into her sexual desires, and a song that perpetuates rape culture in modern society.
"Rape culture" has become both a conversation and controversy in recent years. Rape culture is the stuff that surrounds us everyday that diminishes
the value of seeking for consent (Flyntz, 2016, p 18). In many rape cases consent is circumvented by incapacitating the victim with alcohol or drugs.
When the female role in Loesser's song asks "hey, what's in this drink?" it is very reminiscent of those instances. "The very banality of the fact that
women are largely raped by their friends, husbands, and boyfriends is what makes rape culture so damaging" (Penny, 2010, pg12). For many rape
survivors the memory of having their refusal to give consent ignored

The Importance Of Culture In Education
Studying about the human culture lets us look into other cultures from an up–close and more personal perspective to understand their culture from
there stand point. We must use a different approach, as anthropologists who conduct their research by understanding that there are two approaches for
evaluating a culture and that is emic and etic. I will be examining an aspect of my own culture and I will also examine an aspect of another culture
from an emic perspective. I will demonstrate a culturally relativistic perspective, without using opinionated or judgmental language. Throughout this
paper I will also try to examine an aspect of my own race and its cultural practices and behaviors. The main topic of my paper is Education. I want to
be able to show that no matter what culture you come from, education is for anyone. I will examine the rights of education in the United States and
discuss anti–school culture among Sweden boys to show why girls perform better in school than boys.
Part 1
According to Crapo (2013), an "etic perspective is an outsider's or observer's allegedly objective account" (p. 27). Looking from an etic point of view,
looking at my own culture, in comparison to the Nacirema culture discussed in Miner's article, there are some similarities. Some people may think how
can these two cultures have anything in common. Although the African– American culture have no dealings with the Nacirema's, there are some
aspects that are similar with their culture. I will

The Importance Of Japanese Culture
In my multicultural paper, I will be discussing about the Japanese culture how it has influenced my own values and traditions today, allowing me to
experience a world which I was not aware of before. Specifically, their type of food dishes is something I partake on a weekly basis with friends and
family, ranging from their usual rice balls to delicious sushi. Another trait about this culture is being able to read their unique literature, after spending
two semesters in a Japanese course at Fullerton College, I have finally developed the ability to read Japanese in my favorite Manga books, without
needing English subtitles. Likewise, another key point that I find interesting about this culture is how they can advance in the field of technology by
creating new devices that could help humanity. But, that is not always the case with this culture, seeing they have been known for creating the weirdest
inventions in the world, yet still bringing joy and excitement to some. Either way, people from other cultures should take the opportunity to learn about
this culture, considering what it could return and teach, making us a diverse community. Now, I understand that not everyone has the stomach to handle
Japanese cuisine, seeing how some of their delicious meals tend to be prepared as raw, and not cooked to the proper temperature which most people
are accustom to. However, it is worth eating if you are willing to participate in, because Japanese chefs are among the most eager and

The Importance Of Second Culture
Introduction
The "American Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century" considers language to be "the primary vehicle for expressing cultural
perspectives" and affirms that "the study of a language provides opportunities for students to develop insights in a culture that are available in no other
way" (the language educator, ACTFL, 32) It implies that teaching or learning a second language goes with teaching or learning a second culture.
Language acquisition is then implied to be culture acquisition. According to the ACTFL standards, "the true content of the foreign language course is
not the grammar and vocabulary of the language, but the cultures expressed through that language." We are then tempted to raise questions on the
cultural identity of fluent bilingual speakers or polyglots. If learning a second language is learning or acquiring a second culture, does proficiency in
a second language rhyme with proficiency in a second culture? If this can be answered yes, how do learners manage their first culture in their process
to second language and culture proficiency?
With this mobile modern world, people easily cross language barriers. It is much easier to reach proficiency level in many languages in few years. If
language goes with culture, that proficiency should normally mean proficiency in second cultures. So, a polyglot who is proficient in four languages
should be proficient in four different cultures. If this hypothesis is true, it would be good to

The Importance Of Family Culture
Your family identity is who you are as a family, the values or beliefs learned from parents, daily routine of habits, religious activities, and special
traditions created that is celebrated or conducted year after year is the family culture you create. Knowing who you are and where you came from is
an important part of our cultural history, knowing our origins gives us the ability to increase cross–cultural awareness and understanding. By learning
the causes and effects of past events, one can employ improved processes to deal with conflict or enhance a healthier lifestyle, profession, or business
culture (eNotes.com, Inc., 2009). Reflecting on family culture (values), chores was a huge part, learning the importance of home and ground care, like
gardening and then spiritually through religious beliefs. These core family foundations instill the basics of responsibility in the home and community
which in turn is an anchor becoming an adult in the working world.
In a team environment, individual values do not change, adaptability of behaviors is needed to fit within the group. The culturally intelligent way is to
try to understand teammates and flex behavior to create a win–win situation by building a common understanding, trust, and commitment utilizing
common ground rules (Hoogendoorn, 2013).

Importance Of Technology In Culture
Technology in Culture Technology plays one of the most pivotal roles in the differing of cultures and societies from one another. The development of
technology has developed based on where people live and the resources at their disposal. This has created a vast difference in the way people live their
lives throughout the world. The technology created by different cultures gives us a firsthand view of the past and how people have either developed
new innovations or stuck to the technology that has worked for thousands of years. The difference in how people live across the world is based on the
technology at their disposal.

The focus of this article deals with the "farmer–back–to–farmer" model of agricultural development. This model urged technologists to use a farmer's
knowledge as the starting point for technological innovations. The way people do this is by close study of how farmers live and what their daily
needs are. So, the way to find an innovation is by studying what a farmer could use to help their lives and work.
The methods used were utilization of research from other scientists, experience of the author in the Sustainable Agriculture and

The Importance Of Black Culture
The Black culture is deeply rooted in religion and spirituality as our foundation. In addition, our values, customs, traditions, and way of life speak to
the meaning of Black culture. It is a culture I take much pride in. Often my culture is referred to as African –American or Black–American culture. The
Black culture is a culture of family, resilience, strength, forgiveness, adaptability, and complexities. Like most cultures, the Black culture is also flawed.
The culture also reflects multitudes of contributions to American culture. What is important to understand about Black Culture is that is it also
multicultural.
One cannot forget that slavery impacted and restricted the ability of African American's to practice and cultivate their own culture. If Black culture is to
be understood, then we must be intrigued by the historical progression of terms used to describe Black Americans. Graduating from the term Negro, to
colored, Black and currently African– American. I often wonder, does the name change alter the perceptions and meaning of Black culture.
A Challenge to my Worldview There are times when I find myself generalizing about how other cultures and races perceive the Black culture. This can
be problematic if I don't work on my biases. A bias, I have is that most races, and cultures have negative perceptions about African Americans. I can see
where this thought could cause problems during a counseling session with a minority client. One way to lessen this thought

Importance Of Malaysian Culture
When caring for patients of the Malaysian culture the primary areas to take into consideration are language, family structure, and religion. The
family we interviewed speaks English & Tamil and it is commonplace for them to speak quickly as well as at a high volume. Due to this, it is
important to listen closely and clarify anything that the nurse may not have heard clearly. If the patient did not speak English it would be necessary
to obtain a translator to communicate with the patient and their family. It is also customary to keep a space of two to three feet between people
speaking to one another in this culture. When caring for an individual of Malaysian culture, it is important to note that the healthcare provider is to
place emphasis on addressing the parents of the patient, even if the patient is an adult. Religion plays a large role in Malaysian culture, especially for
individuals that identify with the Islamic faith. Many patients will have a set prayer schedule, which includes praying after a shower and before
meals. It is important to know this when assisting with ADLs so that the nurse can make sure the patient is able to maintain their spiritual wellness.
The concept of health and wellness for those of the Islamic faith centers heavily around prayer so it is crucial to advocate for healthcare interventions
while also respecting the patient's beliefs. If the nurse is assisting emotionally after a death the best way to provide comfort is to just be present and

A system of knowledge, of standards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To understand culture, we must understand all three levels. One additional aspect complicates the study of culture: the group or cultural unit which
"owns" the culture. An organization may have many different cultures or subcultures, or even no discernible dominant culture at the organizational
level. Recognizing the cultural unit is essential to identifying and understanding the culture.
Organizational cultures are created, maintained, or transformed by people. An organization's culture is, in part, also created and maintained by the
organization's leadership. Leaders at the executive level are the principle source for the generation and re–infusion of an organization's ideology,
articulation of core values and specification of norms. Organizational values express preferences for certain behaviours or certain outcomes.
Organizational norms express behaviours accepted by others. They are culturally acceptable ways of pursuing goals. Leaders also establish the
parameters for formal lines of communication and message content–the formal interaction rules for the organization. Values and norms, once
transmitted through the organization, establish the permanence of the organization's culture.
ORGANIZATIONAL CULTUREIS ALSO A SYNTHESIS OF SUBCULTURES
Sociologists discuss how distinct societies are composites of interacting subcultures rather than a single overarching culture. Organizations consist of
subgroups that

The Importance Of Ethcentrism In Culture

  • 1. The Importance Of Ethcentrism In Culture and practices are right and everything that differs from ours is wrong or abnormal (–––––). In the example above, ethnocentrism is represented by Christa's position who assumed that the American engagement tradition which involves a ring is –and should be– the norm for cultures around the world. Taking an ethnocentric stance involves the existence of a parameter for every behavior and action we encounter and we can use it to determine whether it is right or wrong. However, we cannot really define such parameter without appealing to our values, norms, and behaviors. In other words, without appealing to our culture. Furthermore, all cultures carry biases since they are developed in a specific context influenced by external and internal factors that change according to time and place. Since conditions vary, culture varies. What arguments could we use to set up my culture as a model for others since the context within it was developed it just different? Clearly, Christa's attitude would have been different if she was born in a Zulu tribe. Although we cannot claim that this attitude is wrong because everybody carries some cultural biases that we are not even aware of. Additionally, since these biases are shared they bring cohesion to the group (D. Zigelsky, class discussion, August 30, 2017). However, we must be aware that extreme ethnocentrism can lead to negative outcomes such as racism, xenophobia, and war. In anthropology, ethnocentrism is problematic especially when doing ... • 2. The Importance Of Rape Culture Enculturation is a gradual process by which individuals learn how to adapt to the norms within a society. Social norms stand as principles that are understood by aggregate individuals to manage their behaviours; therefore, culture is a set of accepted behaviours (Cachon, 2017). In the 1970's, during the second wave of feminism, woman activists in the United States popularized the rape culture approach (Cole, 2017). Rape culture is present in a society when rape and other forms of sexual violence are fueled by social norms; normally, these acts are excused when committed by men against women (Cole, 2017). The position of women within this domain is clear; "men systematically target women for acts of sexual objectification, degradation, and abuse" (Ezzell, 2008). Women are submissive to a sexist society. One of the most powerful aspects of socialization that provide a dominant male culture is the universal media (Ezzell, 2008). This paper will argue to clearly identify the elements of rape culture while illustrating how today's media promotes it. Rape Culture silences rape and sexual violence against women in the media and surrounding popular culture when these attacks are standardized and pardoned (Ezzell, 2008). In today's society, sexual assault jokes referencing rape culture are promoted throughout many films. More specifically, in 2007, a comedy film by the name of Superbad was released. This movie revolves around two high school best friends, Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of My Culture All around the world there exists a myriad of many different cultures. Each differs from the next with unique characteristics that pertain to that specific culture. In spite of all the unique differences that make my culture mine and your culture yours. We all share commonalities in how we interact with each other. We let common principles and values influence and shape our interactions with those around us. It is also based upon those principles and values how we integrate and categorize individuals. Music is a perfect example of this. Being the universal language of the world, music has a great deal of influence on not only how we interact within our culture but also how we integrate. And is a perfect representation of where we are in culture and in society. For thousands of years music has been an integral component to our creativity and development. Music serves as an escape route for many of us. Its somewhere where you can leave your most complex and personal thoughts for the world to see, or better yet listen. Or it can be where you let your mind float off into the tranquil melodic vibes of the song. Have you ever played one of your favorite songs and immediately felt your skin tighten up as hundreds of goosebumps emerged? I believe music is an art of its own as it is an outlet that gives you the power to express yourself and allow others to perceive and appreciate your art. It is a mirror of your emotions and aspirations. It is no wonder why we can't live without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Culture And Diversity Diversity and culture have been one of the topics that really captivate my attention in this class so far. Since my relocation to America years ago, I have been trying to see if there is any way I can relate culture to diversity. I have been trying to see if my culture can really help me to adapt to the way of leaving in this diverse country. While myculture has taught me how to respect individual differences, value human life, appreciate the existence of people in my life, believe life after death, believe in the existence of God and much more but how can I relate it to other cultures, if there is no diversity. While many people believe that culture and diversity are two different things but to me, the question is "can diversity occur without culture"? While culture represents a society's characteristics by means of a social phenomenon, diversity talk about individual differences. When we talk about diversity, we discuss how people of the same culture may have different beliefs, belongs to a different gender, background and many other features. Culture is man–made things while diversity is something biological and in short, I will say diversity can be something natural. Culture is whole things that include beliefs, art knowledge, law, morals, customs and any other things that can be acquired by an individual as a member of a society. As said earlier, culture is not something inherited biologically but something that is socially acquired. Culture in a certain community ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of The Geek Culture Today Geek Culture is a widely acknowledged sub–culture across the world. Technology and media are ever changing and the Geek Culture reflects the changes with the acceptance of "nerds", "otaku", and the "dweeb". Though mostly meant as derogatory terms they are now seen as acceptable jokes that are popular in this moment of history. Nerds are the socially awkward and intelligent population the term is also interchangeable with its outdated counterpart dweeb. Otaku was used to insult adults who enjoyed anime that though not meant for children was still considered cartoons therefore childish; but now many refer to themselves as an otaku. Though accepted common stereotypes about the culture and its population still persist. The most prominent misconceptions include the belief that otaku are nothing but lazy, incompetent men that are all N.E.E.T. or hikikomori, not in education employment or training and someone who shuts themselves in there room away from society respectively, that don't contribute to society in any meaningful way. Some believe that everything otaku related is like a cancer infecting and affecting the "healthy "parts of society which is like calling it criminal to be an otaku. The perverted, lazy, and deadbeat otaku only make up the smallest but most visible portion of otaku society. The prevalent stereotypes about the otaku/anime fans is easily viewed when typing in google "why are anime fans..." or "why are otakus..." and the autocomplete fills in with so ugly, ... • 6. The Importance Of DN Culture Introduction "Accelerate your Life" "Global Force for Good" and "America's Navy" all have been slogans for the DON (Faram, 2017). These all show a side or aspect of the Navy though in the following paragraphs I will guide you on why I believe that the US DON culture is the cause for the resent deaths of sailors this summer. The reason why I am interested in this group is because I have served/worked for this group for nearly a dozen years. Body: How the organization prevents and responds to problematic and antisocial behaviors? On a national level for media the DON got caught in an amateur pornography case in which how the medium was taken and distributed came under fire (Cauterucci, 2017). This has been an issue for years not just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fraternization violates both courage and commitment. Courage violated by willful neglect to do what is right, while commitment is violated by the fact that a person of leadership is inappropriately mentoring a junior person. You can put any of these into a web search engine and return with dozens of articles agreeing that these four pillars of an ethically down trodden organization is very much part of the DON. Ethical concepts came to a cusp so much so that the forty–first President of the United States George H. W. Bush signed Executive Order 12674 (Bush, 1989) into law detailing the proper conduct of government official to include but not limited to the DON. All of the examples thus far violate this document, though in theory the document was to be a guideline that assisted in getting all personnel onto the same ethical page but it clearly has not (Myers, 2016; Durden, 2017; "Naval Leadership Scolded Warship Collisions, Sep 19 2017."). Cultural change efforts from the most recent congressional committee to the EO 12674 and their failures highlight that the DON has a complex ethical issues (Bush, 1989; "Naval Leadership Scolded Warship Collisions, Sep 19 2017."). Issues range from sexual misconduct, to defrauding the US, to gaffing documents. Common thread is "what can I get out of the Government/now" vs President Ronald Reagan's "There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don't care who gets ... • 7. Importance Of Culture In The Philippines The Philippines is a vibrant nation full of life and color but what makes the Philippines stand out above the rest is the culture that defines it. In Kim Zimmerman's article "What is Culture," she defines culture as "characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music, and arts." (Zimmerman, 2017) Although the Philippines has a large variety of cultural norms and values, the most prominent aspects of their culture are the country's spoken language, religious beliefs, foods, social habits, and the arts. The multiple languages and dialects spoken in the country is the clear form of communication and the best way to be involved into a country's culture. Religion is a strong characteristic to be a part of in any country. Religious views use faith and beliefs to create a spiritually, strong bond within people. The type of cuisine made and eaten in a country is significant because it represents the traditions of the culture by maintaining the authenticity of the foods they eat. Social habits create a standard for the way norms and issues are taken care of in everyday life. The arts bring out the creativity and imagination a country's culture has to offer. A country's culture is much more the distinctions between other nations. It is a gateway to the heart and soul of the people and the Philippines demonstrates just how powerful culture can be for their nation as well as the rest of the world. The Republic of the Philippines is one of the most popular countries in the Pacific Asia. The Philippines is a country made of many beautiful islands and vacation hot spots that attract many tourists. Filipinos are known for their positive attitudes and hospitable characteristics. They are known for a huge variety of food in which many people travel the globe to visit. They have many popular attractions like the perfect cone shaped Mayon Volcano, the underground reef of Palawan and the amazing beaches of Boracay and El Nido. The Philippines has about 70 to 80 different dialects with Tagalog, Cebuano, and Ilocano being the most popular dialects (Culture of the Philippines, 2017). English is also spoken in the Philippines. • 8. The Importance Of Culture On My Culture My culture is the Netflix and/or binge–watching culture. This culture has a variety of different elements that are within it. These elements each have their own importance to how they impact my culture. Also, without any of these elements it would change the culture completely. To begin, the first element is the values of my culture. Values are the principles or standards that society uses to make judgments. One of the values associated with Netflix is modification. Netflix is always being modified so that the viewers could see newly released shows as well as movies. Movies and TV shows are always being produced as well as what is trending in the country and world. Another value is variation, this allows subscribers to have an unlimited number of movies and TV shows to watch. On the Netflix website, the values they used to convey themselves was judgment, productivity, creativity, intelligence, honesty, communication, selflessness, reliability and passion. I think these all represent the company very well. The next element to my culture is beliefs. Beliefs are the opinions or theories that people accept. Some of the beliefs associated with the beliefs of Netflix are the 5–star rating system that is used to measure the quality of the show. The higher number of stars the better the movie/show should be. This is also based on a consensus so even if it has a high rating you still might not like the movie/show and vis versa. Another belief is that Netflix is more for watching movies not necessary TV shows like Hulu offers. Some other TV/movie online media streaming websites are: Amazon Prime, Hulu, Sling TV, HBO Now, etc. Knowledge is the ability to be informed and understand concepts to help people through life. There are several types of knowledge someone needs to understand when they use Netflix one of which is how to use the technology. From how to properly run a computer to how to run Netflix and navigate through the app. Another is the ability to understand the language the show is in, and if it's not offered in someone's first language then you can put the subscripts on so you can understand it. Its also important to know release dates or dates that shows will be removed from Netflix. Norms are the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Importance Of School Culture School Culture flows from the traditions, goals, values, vision, and motto of a school system. Culture is the elastic that binds students, teachers, support staff and administrators together and it has a profound impact on the learning environment. The role of the school principal is paramount in ensuring that the mechanism of culture is present and evident within the halls, celebrations and ceremonies of the institutions. School principals play a significant role in shaping the culture of the modern day educational institution, and their leadership can bolster or hinder progressive education: through various behaviors such as modeling and reinforcing, social skills, promoting communication and positive relationships as well as encouraging strong partnership with all stakeholders. The Cambridge English Dictionary (2017) defines culture by the way of life of a particular people, as shown in their ordinary behavior and habits, their attitudes toward each other, and their moral and religious beliefs: On the other hand culture is defined by Schein (2016) as the concept of structural stability, depth, breadth, and patterning or integration that results from the fact that culture is formulated by learned behaviors endorsed by a group of individuals as excepted norms and standards. Depending on the lenses from which an individual experiences culture, culture can be interpreted differently from conventional meanings; therefore, for the purposes of this paper, cultural is inclusive ... • 11. The Importance Of Language On Culture Pamela Wance ENGL 1010–48 10/25/2017 The Way We Speak Language is the universal connection that brings all humans together. We share this common ground to communicate. The three major points that I would like to focus on are: How does language influence our culture? Does it define us, or does it refine us? And lastly, the impact that language has on our societies. Language has gradually advanced over many millions of years. Slang has developed, and other cultures languages and quirks have made their way in, and it has become one. Language has a way of shaping our identities, and personal cultures. It brings us together, and sometimes it even makes us move apart. There has been a long debate on whether language has an impact on cultures, and with much research from linguistic specialist, and professors the debate has been solved to say that, yes, in fact that language has an impact on cultures. In an article called, "Does Language influence culture?" Johnathan Becher makes a statement about how differences in each language seems to impact the behaviors, and how everyone interprets their surroundings. It is amazing how simple language comes off to be, and yet it can be so advanced. It impacts each culture differently; Johnathan Becher said that the way Russians express colors is more advanced than most others. They can express the difference between light blues, and dark blues in a very descriptive way. The extensive details can be results of each culture being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Importance Of Culture On The Culture Of Nepal Pre–interation Nepal is known to be a multi–religious country with religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Muslim, Christianity and other religions found there. However, 80 percent of the population of Nepal practices Hinduism. Which leads me to believe that the Hinduism has to have a great impact on the culture of Nepal. Hinduism is a male dominated religion and women often play a secondary role. There are many restrictive conditions that a Nepali Hindu woman has to live by. However, there is overwhelming respect for women because they considered gifts from the gods and aspects of pure energy. Hindus believe in the idea of karma and rebirth, the idea that each is reincarnated so that the soul can be purified. Orientation Upon getting this assignment I immediately thought of doing it on Nepal's culture. I had been intrigued each time my co–worker, Aastha, would share her stories about her home. I presumed this would be the perfect opportunity to learn more their practices. I believe they are some similarities between Nepali and Haitian culture in the sense that both could be viewed as having stricter values than the western culture that most of us is familiar with. But more importantly the way that religion is embedded within the culture is the most comparable. I believe that's where the similarities ended and the differences began. Upon asking Aastha if she would be interested in being interviewed she immediately began to plan what we could discussed. She almost took over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The topic has been studied from a variety of perspectives ranging from disciplines such as anthropology and sociology, to the applied disciplines of organizational behaviour, management science, and organizational communication. Some of the definitions are listed below: A set of common understandings around which action is organized; finding expression in language whose nuances are peculiar to the group (Becker and Geer 1960). A set of understandings or meanings shared by a group of people that are largely tacit among members and are clearly relevant and distinctive to the particular group which are also passed on to new members (Louis 1980). THE SYMBIOSIS BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATION'S OVERALL CULTURE AND ITS SUBCULTURES Some people may debate which comes first in an organization: the organizational culture or the organization's subcultures. The question that is relevant to the definition of Organizational Culture is how do the ideologies, values, and norms of subcultures compliment the organizational culture advocated by leadership? Explaining this relationship requires an understanding that cultures provide members with a reliable means to interpret a highly ambiguous environment. It is the leader's responsibility to specify the features of the environment that are relevant to the organization and then provide the supporting assumptions and rationale for its operating strategies. The leader's cultural messages should address ambiguities that are beyond the scope of any organizational subculture to explain to employees. Leaders should recognize that their cultural messages should specifically address cultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Importance Of Culture In Egypt Changing Times Egypt full of history and culture diverseness, throughout its ever changing landscape you first must define what is culture? Do you identify it by the different regions? Religious beliefs? Maybe traditions? Generations as in any culture will pass down the customs and values of the country teaching the younger generations the importance of their roots and ideas. As the country continues to grow and expand so will the culture, it is ever changing with modernization of the country and the upcoming generations. Understanding the culture of a country can help you keep an open mind and not come to conclusions and judge the perception of the country. Not one single thing defines a country's culture, the emphasis will be on its military views, political and environment. Egypt has an area of 385,229 square miles, and the total population consists of 65,200,000 people. Two things separate Egypt from its neighbors, the ocean or sparsely populated desert. (Hopkins & Saad, n.d.) The Mediterranean Sea lies to the north of the country; therefore, the red sea lies directly south, and the western desert separates the country from Libya and North Africa. (Hopkins & Saad, n.d.) A major terrain feature that sustains most of the population is the Nile River. Furthermore, the Nile begins at Lake Tana in Ethiopia, where it travels north, eventually draining into the Mediterranean Sea. (Hopkins & Saad, n.d.) Although most people consider the Nile an ... • 16. The Importance Of School Culture As mentioned by Peterson, K. D., & Deal, T. E. (2009) when it comes to school culture there are many hidden or not visible aspects that need to be considered. For example, we need to take in consideration things that will promote or affect commitment, productivity as well as motivation. As Peterson, K. D., & Deal, T. E. (1999) mentioned, "School culture influences what people pay attention to (focus), how they identify with the school (commitment), how hard they work (motivation), and the degree to which they achieve their goals (productivity)..." For instance something things that we take for granted such as: manners, way we celebrate others, vision & mission, ways we even greet others and even the tone of voice we use might set the wrong culture. Even though, we are all trying to catch up, we need to take our time to consider what is important and or might affect our school community. Simple things such as greeting others, parents, students and staff member need to be our number one priority, having time to listen to their problems, concerns as well as their ideas will also help us create a positive culture. We need to listen to those unsaid words, hidden messages, we need to focus on what it is important, setting up the best learning/teaching/working opportunities for all community members. As school leaders we need to understand, that our voice tone, facial gestures, comments as well as preoccupation for getting better professional development opportunities, parental involment even the way we motivate others will become the mirror image we see in others. Our school is doing many things to foster our vision and mission which is "All students are getting the best learning opportunities..." As part of this, the school is running before and after school extended learning programs in which some students, those whose reading performance is under grade level, will be invited and motivate to assist. Teachers are having conversations with parents to help them understand the importance of this initiative. Posters, flyers as well as information had been sent home. Another way that our school is trying to promote our vision and mission is through the Literacy Family Night program that is starting on Dec 7, 2017. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Importance Of Culture And Organizational Culture The importance of culture in the organization The organization culture as a leadership concept has been identified as one of the many components that leaders can use to grow a dynamic organization. Leadership in organizations starts the culture formation process by imposing their assumptions and expectations on their followers. Once culture is established and accepted, they become a strong leadership tool to communicate the leader 's beliefs and values to organizational members, and especially new comers. When leaders promote ethical culture, they become successful in maintaining organizational growth, the good services demanded by the society, the ability to address problems before they become disasters and consequently are competitive against rivals. The leader 's success will depend to a large extent, on his knowledge and understanding of the organizational culture. The leader who understands his organizational culture and takes it seriously is capable of predicting the outcome of his decisions in preventing any anticipated consequences. What then is organizational culture? The concept of organizational culture has been defined from many perspectives in the literature. There is no one single definition for organizational culture. The topic of organizational culture has been studied from many perspectives and disciplines, such as anthropology, sociology, organizational behavior, and organizational leadership to name a few. • 18. The Importance Of Culture Appropriation Culture Appropriation is a relative topic throughout the world and has brought upon many debates for years. One specific ongoing debate is if writers have the right to write about other cultures without being classified as culturally appropriated their culture. In "Who gets to Write What?" by Kaityln Greenidge and "Dangerous Ideas" by Kenzie Allen, both authors discuss how writers should have the ability to freely write about what they want but with resposnbility and without using stereotypes. Greenidge writes about how she witnessed someone's work being accused of culture appropriation and her own struggles while Allen gives many examples of how pop culture is being appropriated. Greenidge does this through a personal narrative while Allen does this through the use of exemplification. Even though both authors represent their argument on culture appropriation, Kaitlyn Greenidge is more likely than Kenzie Allen to succeed in getting people to change their minds because her argument is clearer due to her organization, she uses reliable sources which adds credibility, and uses personal narrative in order to make it more believable and appeal to the readers emotions. Greenidge's standpoint on the argument is given in the beginning of her article, making her article very clear for the readers: "I can say that I felt so strongly that Bill had to right to write that scene because he wrote it well" (Greenidge 4). • 19. The Importance Of Greek Culture Examining a culture one is not accustomed to can create a new found interest in the want to experience different ways of life. Greeks value family, hospitality, patriotism, spirituality, their homeland, conversing with one another and stranger alike, the beauty of the land, and the feeling of being home. Conversely, this could not be farther from the truth. Racial mixing came as a result of many centuries of war and hardships between foreign regions. A few things that remain persistent in a Greek is the curiosity of all aspects of life, the feeling and need for adventure, and a warm heart. Despite racial mixing, the traditions of Greek ancestry live on in the lives of the people that fill Greece today. Another component that emphasizes the Greek person is the land. It is rather easy to acknowledge the beauty of the Greek landscape, but fully accepting the impact it has on someone is another story. The soil that Greece is built upon is said to be poor, but the sight of the landscape is known to be breathtaking. The Importance Of Japanese Culture Japans society is a culture that is highly resistant to change; a society that places a high value on each member's conformity within highly structured layers of Japanese society. Japan is an island nation, consisting of the four large islands of Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. Together they are approximately the size of Germany or the State of California, and it has a population of approximately 126 million people Japan has a large population in relation to its land mass and as a consequence most Japanese people live crowded together in an urban corridor squeezed along the eastern edge of the Japanese islands. A result of this crowding is that Japanese place a high value on public harmony and the avoidance of any conflict, especially in public. Japanese norms require people to be willing to apologize and humble themselves, so much so that even after a minor auto accident each driver will jump out of their vehicle and bow to each other and apologize, instead of risking a very public confrontation. Frequently, Japanese will also employ the use of a go–between to negotiate a possible marriage. In this way, an individual can turn down a bride or groom without rejecting them to their face, thereby avoiding open disagreement or embarrassment of an individual. The Japanese culture is one that is rich within an historical and traditional context. • 22. The Importance of Language and Culture The importance of language is a repeated trend throughout history. The lack of language weighs negatively on an individual's intellect and the acquisition of language feeds the development of one's cultural identity. The greatest historical conquest began in the realm of linguistic turmoil. Examples of this are vast in the capturing of American Americans slaves, and injustice towards the Native Americans on the home front. The captured people were taken from a variety of tribes speaking different native tongues to insure communication barriers resulting in the slaves not being able to overtake the ship or rally an uprising. The linguistic and cultural differences lead to the manipulation of the semantics of agreements, which lead to many Native Americans to lose their land. The British taken continentally instilled linguistic control over people from India to Southern Africa. British forcefully mandated the educational system be taught in English therefore ultimately taking over the languacultural acquisition of the continent of India's future. The pedagogy of language is connected to perpetuation of culture, traditions, and social norms. The Deaf community is another example of the importance of language acquisition throughout history. The impact of how a deaf child is educated impacts more than that deaf child alone but also the future of the Deaf community and the languaculture rich in American Sign Language. One profession where being culturally aware is especially important is nursing. Nurses must know how to help their patients in a way that is both therapeutic and professional, and to do this they must understand what their patient is thinking and what is important to them. The Giger and Davidhizar Transcultural Nursing Assessment Framework gives a framework of six areas that should be focused on when working with different cultures. In this paper, we will specifically be looking at the children and families of the Bosnian culture. We will also be looking at some implications and interventions of nursing care from the assessment of the culture. Giger and Davidhizar Framework The Giger and Davidhizar Transcultural Nursing Assessment Framework consists of six factors that the nurse should pay attention to: communication, space, social organization, time, environmental control, and biological factors (Giger & Davidhizar, 2002). As I began learning about the hallmarks of Deaf culture such as "language, heritage art and history", I began wondering about how the historical significance of each one impacted the modern choices of Deaf individuals (Holcomb 17). Our textbook Introduction to American Deaf Culture makes references to how important American Sign Language is to define the Deaf community which leaves me wondering how strong the foundation of Deaf culture would be if based on heritage rather than on language. Language never played in a role in how people viewed me as a Jewish youth nor did people believe I was not culturally experienced because I could not hold a conversation in a certain language. The Jewish people went through oppression both in the stories I grew up learning as well as historical events like the Holocaust which emotionally changed the lives of the Jewish population to this day and for years to come. The point of my experience as a Jewish individual is to lay the idea of how I grew up feeling appreciated by my population without a language and how the community I grew up with experienced oppression much as the Deaf community faced and show how the events we endured made our culture stronger in the long run. I believe that much like the Jewish people, Deaf people show the same pride in their community because of the oppression they faced and how the pride they feel is attributed more to their history than to language. When thinking about the historical impact against the Deaf community, the primary instance that arises in my head is the oralist movement which was supported by hearing people like Alexander Graham Bell. Therefore, until recently, they have used the Japanese language and been educated and lived as Japanese. However, there are many traditional cultures which have still practiced over the time. In our reading, Cross Culture, The Lewis Model by Richard D. Lewis, the case for categorization is made as it enables one to: "predict a cultures behavior, clarify why people did what they did, avoid giving offence, search for some kind of unity, to standardize policies, and to perceive neatness and order". Leaders must develop themselves and their subordinates to become culturally sensitive and aware. What I always found to be a fun Christmas song has become tainted by my feministic ideals, and hatred for the rape culture that has persisted through the years. The lyrical dance of the woman saying she really should go, the man coaxing her to stay, the so very complicated line about what is in that drink. Outside the context of the 1940s these things are a veritable sexual harassment public service announcement. However, when you consider the history of the 1940's slang and expectations of women the message becomes more about female empowerment. Baby it's cold outside is both a song about an empowered woman giving into her sexual desires, and a song that perpetuates rape culture in modern society. "Rape culture" has become both a conversation and controversy in recent years. Rape culture is the stuff that surrounds us everyday that diminishes the value of seeking for consent (Flyntz, 2016, p 18). In many rape cases consent is circumvented by incapacitating the victim with alcohol or drugs. When the female role in Loesser's song asks "hey, what's in this drink?" it is very reminiscent of those instances. • 33. The Importance Of Second Culture Introduction The "American Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century" considers language to be "the primary vehicle for expressing cultural perspectives" and affirms that "the study of a language provides opportunities for students to develop insights in a culture that are available in no other way" (the language educator, ACTFL, 32) It implies that teaching or learning a second language goes with teaching or learning a second culture. Language acquisition is then implied to be culture acquisition. According to the ACTFL standards, "the true content of the foreign language course is not the grammar and vocabulary of the language, but the cultures expressed through that language." We are then tempted to raise questions on the cultural identity of fluent bilingual speakers or polyglots. If learning a second language is learning or acquiring a second culture, does proficiency in a second language rhyme with proficiency in a second culture? If this can be answered yes, how do learners manage their first culture in their process to second language and culture proficiency? With this mobile modern world, people easily cross language barriers. It is much easier to reach proficiency level in many languages in few years. One additional aspect complicates the study of culture: the group or cultural unit which "owns" the culture. An organization may have many different cultures or subcultures, or even no discernible dominant culture at the organizational level. Recognizing the cultural unit is essential to identifying and understanding the culture. Organizational cultures are created, maintained, or transformed by people. An organization's culture is, in part, also created and maintained by the organization's leadership. Leaders at the executive level are the principle source for the generation and re–infusion of an organization's ideology, articulation of core values and specification of norms. Organizational values express preferences for certain behaviours or certain outcomes. Organizational norms express behaviours accepted by others. They are culturally acceptable ways of pursuing goals. Leaders also establish the parameters for formal lines of communication and message content–the formal interaction rules for the organization. Values and norms, once transmitted through the organization, establish the permanence of the organization's culture.
