The Importance Of Academic Performance
Academics Some studies have shown that academic performance, measured by grade point averages, and high school academic success, are strong
indicators of whether a student will prematurely dropout of a higher educational institution before granting a degree. Based on a study by Wu, Fletcher,
and Oston, they found some important factors that contributed to attrition risk; the first–year college and high school grade point averages, and
enrolled hours at academic institutions (2007). The idea of using academic assessments as important instruments to determine performance and
persistence can be supported by Wu's findings. In another study conducted by Schnell, Seashore Louis, and Doetkott determined that not only
precollege academic assessments were a critical factor for persistence towards graduation in college, but student's characteristics (2003). Researchers
have agreed that academic assessment is important for the success of college students, but they have also agreed that academic measures alone cannot
be used to predict continuous college attendance. Johnson found that students who drop out of higher learning institutions early have grade point
averages of an A or B, and students with weaker academic scores represent an average 10% of the students who early (2012). Faculty Interaction
Faculty interaction is another factor that has impact on underrepresented minority students' academic performance in colleges and universities
(Pascarella & Terezini, 2005). This type

Persuasive Essay On STEM Education
Everyone wants what is best for their children, right? If that is true, then schools need to start preparing their students for the challenges they will meet
in college and the skills to overcome them. This is best done through the presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in middle
and high schools. Through Wisconsin schools furthering their focus on STEM with extracurriculars, students will gain vital skills that are necessary
for human progression, problem–solving and time management skills that can be used in real life, and the students learn how they can apply what is
being taught in the classroom to real obstacles and challenges. It is clear that STEM is a rapidly growing and advancing field that is needed for our
human progression. There are so many different professions that fall under STEM education and many of them impact the world every day. According
to former President Barack Obama "[Science] is more than a school subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the
world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world" (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math). Here, former President Obama is talking about how important science is as more than just a school subject; science can be
taken out of school and used to impact many people and change the world. Some may say that there have been other fields in history that became very
popular but

Research Paper On Standardized Testing
Standardized Testing Standardized testing is a collectively accepted aspect of education today, it is used to evaluate if students of all ages are being
shaped and educated up to the common standard set by the government. Standardized testing can be seen in almost all educational settings from
kindergarten classes to exit exams for nurse practioners. Standardized testing came into play when former President George Bush ran his campaign on
being the education president and enacted the No Child Left behind Act. Under this act all educational districts are subject to standards and core values
they must meet to receive accreditation and funding from the government. Just the other day many students at Moorcroft high school student had to

Many aspects of students' lives dwell on how they do on tests, such as the ACT, SAT, or even their basic grades to be accepted in to college. The
tests need to be designed to accurately gather information on the knowledge of the student, the ACT only asks you a hand full of questions on basic
subject yet take math for instance there are thousands of areas in math to understand and master. Not only are there more than very specific questions
asked the tests do not take in to account the different ways people solve problems such as having to write out question. Some students such as myself
cannot do mental math and it takes us longer to understand the question we are being asked to evaluate, yet the ACT is a timed test. This creates a
bias in the system that students don't know math were the real problem could either be test anxiety or a lack of time given to properly complete the
test. Testing is deeply rooted in students' lives, making it an ever more pressing matter to fix the issues that concern us

I. Background of the Study
Students all over the world face a number of problems which dishearten them. There are so many issues they have to deal with– study, time, money,
relationships, job hopes, and more. Parent's previous experience and education does not always equip them in dealing with such pressures. Many
students will not admit their problems due to various reasons and this may eventually hamper a...show more content...
Statement of the Problem:
This study is an attempt to find out the common difficulties that high school students encounter.
Specifically, this study will seek to answer the following questions: 1. What are the subjects that the respondents have difficulties? 2. Why do the
students find those subjects difficult? 3. What are the coping mechanisms of the students regarding the said difficulties? 4. Is there a significant
difference between the 3rd and 4th year high school students in terms of:
4.1 Gender,
4.2 Subject difficulty
Hypotheses
Our hypothesis for this study is that the subjects in which the students find difficult the most are Mathematics and Science. We presume that the factors
that make these subjects difficult are the teachers and the subject itself. We assume that the coping mechanisms of the students are self–studying and
advanced reading. We also believe that the respondents of this research who experience more difficulties academically are the fourth year high school
students.
Significance of the Study
We believe that this study will benefit the students, the teachers, and even the parents because of the following reasons:
The teachers and educators will know how to improve their teaching techniques, the materials they use, or the schedule appointed, depending on the
result of the survey as to which factor the respondents believe is the reason for that subject difficulty.
Parents will

Sample Of Admission Essay For High School
My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in
my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life
would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of 'Bottlecappers,' a club advocating anti–drug, alcohol, and bullying to
younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they
have shaped me to be the young adult I am today.
Before I even entered high school, I obtained a love of theater and the performing arts. I have been singing and acting since I was nine, as well as on
and off dancing since three. Taking classes at a local theater really introduced me to this interest of mine. When I entered highschool, an injury kept me
from doing shows. But now I graduate with nine high school shows under my belt, as well as being in multiple community theater productions. Being
a part of these shows made me feel a strong sense of belonging, and whether I was an ensemble or lead...show more content...
As I had mentioned earlier, I am part of an anti–drugs and alcohol club. I am extended the opportunity to speak to young students about the risks they

chance to save a student's life through this club. Another community activity I enjoy doing is related to performing, but at senior citizen homes. Some
of my friends and I often just like to get together with some music and go sing for them. This is a rewarding experience, as seeing the senior citizens
smile, and making their day better, is truly a heartwarming experience every time I have the chance to perform for

Junior Research Paper I chose to research the University of California Riverside for several reasons. I wanted to attend a four year university that
was in California, was reasonably close to home, had similar weather that I was used to, and had a large campus with a medium to large amount of
students. UCR seemed to fit that description best, and it appealed to me most because of how close to home it is. UCR is within 20 minutes from
home, and it meets all of the other requirements I wished for in a college that I would like to attend. UCR is one of the easier California Universities to
get into, which is anothermajor reason why I chose this college. The University of California Riverside will be a perfect fit for both my personal needs

Milestone 3: Motivation For High School Students
With so many of life many failure attempts to succeed in life, we see those individuals that have dropped out of school and feel that their life now
seems meaningless. Their determination or will power wasn't strong, and they had no one to push them forward to want to be a better person or
succeed in life. Some students today feel that all they have to do is just attend school just because of their parents' wishes for them to receive a
diploma. Some feel that classes are boring and frustrating and a waste of time and energy. Why do students of today feel this way?...show more content...
Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing fun and games, praise, and love within the
classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more interesting.
Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their likes and dislikes. They should know what
particular student need help in what particular subject. Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers
should consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high school students, implementing cooperative
learning strategies with their lesson plans while students show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they
tend to learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are excited about attending class because they
already know something very eventful is going to take place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so.
They are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and what some of their greater skills may be. As
acknowledge in the article "How to Motivate High School Students," "By allowing students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in a way
that appeals to their strengths, you're giving them a chance

Most people see teachers and professors in the same light. They perform similar tasks. They teach. However, they are separated by a fine line of
distinction. High school teachers help a student build a foundation of knowledge, and train the student to focus on learning. College professors help to
shape and define a student's foundation of knowledge, and challenge the student to cultivate the mind. High school teachers and college professors
have similar goals and guidelines, but they take a differing approach to achieving the end result. The way the class is conducted, academic
expectations, and view of student responsibility are a few of the contrasts between high school teachers and college professors.

The student is responsible for knowing what is required and when it is due. For example; I once asked my math professor if we would have a
homework assignment for the weekend and he did not answer me. One of the other students told me to look in the syllabus for the homework
assignment. I was embarrassed that I had asked and now I save my syllabus for the entire course.
Academic expectations are different between high school teachers and college professors as well. The academic expectations of teachers are focused on
memorizing and regurgitating facts and can be met with minimal effort on the part of the student. High school teachers tend to point out the
relationship between subjects so that the student has no choice but to see the connections. Furthermore, the student is expected to merely do the
homework, and be able to recite the lesson to earn a passing grade. Memorization is the primary focus. For example; students are required to memorize
the multiplication tables even if they don't understand the concept of multiplication. I was one of those students that did not understand multiplication
and as a result, I forgot the multiplication tables almost as soon as math class was over. Whether or not the student actually understands the material is
second to being able to recite the material. This demonstrates a much lower academic expectation compared

Essay about Higher Education
Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in order to achieve his financial and/or personal goals.
Teenagers who attend college use their extended schooling to further obtain knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to enhance one's
abilities for his future. A student can learn from school in numerous ways, but liberal education is not a way to attract students into further and higher
education. However, students can learn a lot more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose's theory
that education needs are reached to obtain a higher academic level by teaching students information that can be related to their personal...show more

However, he has not thought about the students who want to attend college and quickly earn their degree so they can start their careers.
I disagree with Bloom because he encourages the idea of taking extra irrelevant classes to achieve the experience of education. It usually takes about
four years to earn a bachelors degree. There are many courses such as English, math, history, art, etc. that a student must go through before they get to
start on the classes that concentrate on their intended major. These basic courses are part of a program called general education. After completing
general education (which usually takes about two years), the students can then begin to study for their degree. Colleges should abandon the law of
students having to take general education courses because the courses are irrelevant to their field of study, unnecessary and a waste of time. Instead of
taking the extra courses, students can simply meet their needs of a degree in a shorter period of time. Also, Bloom not only that wants students to take
general education courses, he wants them to further their education by taking advanced irrelevant courses. Therefore, in their future, they would have
numerous opportunities for a better career. Because if a job is not right for the student, he would have other choices to obtain a new job.
Rose feels students should not learn from the canon books style. Students have an easier time learning when they relate to the

My High School Year Essay
There was a point in my time where I enjoyed school and took pleasure in attending school and that was elementary. Those were the best school years
of my life, having nothing to care about, the school lunch was unbelievably amazing and we had recess. Middle school was manageable but was also
beginning to become tough because the classes were becoming difficult. As we approach the beginning of ourhigh school career, parents and teachers
always tell us students that it's the best four years of our life, which in my case I did not find high school fascinating or enjoyable. I found high
school to be very stressful, overwhelming and not easy, understanding that the next four years of my life will be filled with obstacles and
challenges that I will face. I knew that I would have challenges with my courses, but I did not think I would have trouble with my emotions such as
feeling depressed, sad, or that I would cry every other day, but to some teachers or parents thought it was normal for teenagers because we are going
through different phases of our life. My freshman year was probably the best year of my high school year but I did face many challenges. I was
immature, did not obey my teachers, always getting in some sort of trouble. I was carefree, fun, outgoing and had decent memories whether they were
good memories or bad memories. Towards the middle of my freshman year I found out that I had Hyperthyroidism, and was quite confused and did not
understand what it meant. As I

When thinking about graduating high school and going into college, do you ever think that you will get a job right when you graduate? Yes that may

their major. It is important to know the different internships that are offered throughout high school and college.

question is that why don't they offer any internships through the school year and only during the summer?
I want to know why the only common internships for the medical field are offered during summer hours and not during the school year. Frenchtown
High School 2013–2014 Registration Course Selection Guide stated that "Frenchtown requires student to have 24 credits to graduate. As you get
older you are offered more elective classes to take. You have eight classes per semester attending four each day" (6). Most students toward the end of
their senior year already have 20–22 credits, meaning you only need two more credits to be eligible to graduate. These seniors have so much time on
their hands, and they end up taking work releases or classes they don't enjoy doing. As a senior myself I find myself taking classes that I don't need,
but take just to fill in a class period. Having this said, there is so much time on their hands to be able to do an internship during the school year, and
not just in the summer. As I interviewed both our High School Principal Jake

Student Loans: The Plight of Students The concept of student loans in nothing out of the ordinary. They have existed for decades. However, they
continue to catch young students by surprise. Due to the education inflation of student loans, attending college for young students is becoming
increasingly unaffordable, especially middle–class students. Fortunately, a potential resolution for the lack of preparedness, planning, and knowledge
has been introduced, which is the "Payback" game. In the first article, "The Cost of College: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" written by Mike Patton
in 2015, the main idea is that as education costs have soared over the past few decades, fewer students can afford a college education. Furthermore, if

Thus, it would aid in completing college and repaying student debt. Lieber (2017) introduces the concept with, "Starting this week, he [Tim Ranzetta]
has a new tool in what has become a yearslong campaign to fill that gap [lack of knowledge of student loans]: a free, interactive, web–based game
called 'Payback.'" Being the fifth of six children and aspiring to attend college, Ranzetta learned all about the system of student loans as a teenager.
When his older siblings began to send their own children to college and knew little to nothing of students loans, Ranzetta turned to student loan
consulting. In doing so, he received many calls from many different people who desperately needed aid in dealing with student loans. Eventually, he
began to work with Jenny Nicholson, one of the creators of "Spent," on his concept of his game, "Payback." The game, "Payback," asks players to
consider a variety of expenses, such as dorm supplies and textbooks. Additionally, there is a rapid–fire class registration simulation that has dire
consequences if not acted upon quickly enough. During this time, a total of your debt is visible. What makes this game most effective is the track of
your balance of focus, connections, and happiness during all four years of college. Lieber (2015) concludes the article with, "In an ideal educational
world, experimental games like this would be core elements of a financial literacy master class that every high school student would

Why I Chose High School Essay
After graduating from Conroe High School, I want to attend to Lone Star College Montgomery simply because it's closer to where I live, and
because it's more affordable than any other state institution. I really don't feel like going to another college that is far away from home, because that
would mean that I would have to stay in campus which is more expensive. I want to go to Lone Star for two years to complete my basics.
The cost per semester at LSC is $800, so the total cost per two years at LSC is $3,200. It would've probably been more affordable if I had taken Dual
Credit classes in high school to earn college credit and to accelerate my college completion, but I wanted to make my high school life easier by taking
level classes. To say the least, I was too much of a coward to challenge myself. Lone Star is perfect for me because most of my friends will attend there.
If I need help with any of my school work in college, it'll be easier to reach my friends. Whereas, if we went to different colleges, we would have to
drive really far just to see each other. Also, if I my car ever breaks down and I'm left without a ride to college, then I know that I can count on my

tremendous difference! I am aware that if I went to Lone Star and I'm competing with someone that went to one of those famous and expensive state
institutions, then I know that I most likely won't get chosen by whichever job I was applying for, but that won't make me regret having chosen LSC.
I'm glad that I chose to attend to Lone Star College

Middle school vs High school
1Many people endure three years of middle school and four years of high school. It is an eventful time for children between 11 to 18 years old. During
the adolescent years there are hormonal changes, environmental changes and emotional developmental gains. Middle school is the beginning of
transitioning towards independence under the constant eye of adults. During high school they are challenged with real–world challenges that help them
transition into adulthood. The behaviors of these individuals change as the factors change around them. For every person, the experience of high
school or middle school may be different. Either way, both have the same goal of wanting the student to succeed and evolve. Even so, the similarities
and differences vary. Middle school and high school are alike in the areas of receiving an education, socializing with others, and having teachers while
different in areas of maturity, difficulty in work, and independence.
2Middle school and high school are alike in the aspect that individuals are receiving an education. Both groups go to learn many different subjects that
vary depending on the student. Either way it is to ensure that each student is gaining an education for future endeavors. Both groups have many
teachers that they encounter each day. That is a prime characteristic of school which truly makes a school function. The teachers teach, grade, and
guide the students to help them create a firm understanding.

The Importance Of Academic Performance

  • 1. The Importance Of Academic Performance Academics Some studies have shown that academic performance, measured by grade point averages, and high school academic success, are strong indicators of whether a student will prematurely dropout of a higher educational institution before granting a degree. Based on a study by Wu, Fletcher, and Oston, they found some important factors that contributed to attrition risk; the first–year college and high school grade point averages, and enrolled hours at academic institutions (2007). The idea of using academic assessments as important instruments to determine performance and persistence can be supported by Wu's findings. In another study conducted by Schnell, Seashore Louis, and Doetkott determined that not only precollege academic assessments were a critical factor for persistence towards graduation in college, but student's characteristics (2003). Researchers have agreed that academic assessment is important for the success of college students, but they have also agreed that academic measures alone cannot be used to predict continuous college attendance. Johnson found that students who drop out of higher learning institutions early have grade point averages of an A or B, and students with weaker academic scores represent an average 10% of the students who early (2012). Faculty Interaction Faculty interaction is another factor that has impact on underrepresented minority students' academic performance in colleges and universities (Pascarella & Terezini, 2005). • 2. Persuasive Essay On STEM Education Everyone wants what is best for their children, right? If that is true, then schools need to start preparing their students for the challenges they will meet in college and the skills to overcome them. This is best done through the presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in middle and high schools. Through Wisconsin schools furthering their focus on STEM with extracurriculars, students will gain vital skills that are necessary for human progression, problem–solving and time management skills that can be used in real life, and the students learn how they can apply what is being taught in the classroom to real obstacles and challenges. It is clear that STEM is a rapidly growing and advancing field that is needed for our human progression. There are so many different professions that fall under STEM education and many of them impact the world every day. According to former President Barack Obama "[Science] is more than a school subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world" (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Here, former President Obama is talking about how important science is as more than just a school subject; science can be taken out of school and used to impact many people and change the world. Some may say that there have been other fields in history that became very popular but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Research Paper On Standardized Testing Standardized Testing Standardized testing is a collectively accepted aspect of education today, it is used to evaluate if students of all ages are being shaped and educated up to the common standard set by the government. Standardized testing can be seen in almost all educational settings from kindergarten classes to exit exams for nurse practioners. Standardized testing came into play when former President George Bush ran his campaign on being the education president and enacted the No Child Left behind Act. Under this act all educational districts are subject to standards and core values they must meet to receive accreditation and funding from the government. Just the other day many students at Moorcroft high school student had to take a...show more content... Many aspects of students' lives dwell on how they do on tests, such as the ACT, SAT, or even their basic grades to be accepted in to college. The tests need to be designed to accurately gather information on the knowledge of the student, the ACT only asks you a hand full of questions on basic subject yet take math for instance there are thousands of areas in math to understand and master. Not only are there more than very specific questions asked the tests do not take in to account the different ways people solve problems such as having to write out question. Some students such as myself cannot do mental math and it takes us longer to understand the question we are being asked to evaluate, yet the ACT is a timed test. This creates a bias in the system that students don't know math were the real problem could either be test anxiety or a lack of time given to properly complete the test. Testing is deeply rooted in students' lives, making it an ever more pressing matter to fix the issues that concern us Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Background of the Study Students all over the world face a number of problems which dishearten them. Statement of the Problem: This study is an attempt to find out the common difficulties that high school students encounter. Specifically, this study will seek to answer the following questions: 1. What are the subjects that the respondents have difficulties? 2. Why do the students find those subjects difficult? 3. What are the coping mechanisms of the students regarding the said difficulties? 4. Is there a significant
  • 5. difference between the 3rd and 4th year high school students in terms of: 4.1 Gender, 4.2 Subject difficulty Hypotheses Our hypothesis for this study is that the subjects in which the students find difficult the most are Mathematics and Science. We presume that the factors that make these subjects difficult are the teachers and the subject itself. We assume that the coping mechanisms of the students are self–studying and advanced reading. We also believe that the respondents of this research who experience more difficulties academically are the fourth year high school students. Significance of the Study We believe that this study will benefit the students, the teachers, and even the parents because of the following reasons: The teachers and educators will know how to improve their teaching techniques, the materials they use, or the schedule appointed, depending on the result of the survey as to which factor the respondents believe is the reason for that subject difficulty. • 7. Sample Of Admission Essay For High School My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of 'Bottlecappers,' a club advocating anti–drug, alcohol, and bullying to younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they have shaped me to be the young adult I am today. Before I even entered high school, I obtained a love of theater and the performing arts. I have been singing and acting since I was nine, as well as on and off dancing since three. Taking classes at a local theater really introduced me to this interest of mine. When I entered highschool, an injury kept me from doing shows. But now I graduate with nine high school shows under my belt, as well as being in multiple community theater productions. Being a part of these shows made me feel a strong sense of belonging, and whether I was an ensemble or lead...show more content... As I had mentioned earlier, I am part of an anti–drugs and alcohol club. I am extended the opportunity to speak to young students about the risks they could encounter. The feeling that those students may look up to us is very meaningful, and I feel it is a unique experience. I am lucky to have the chance to save a student's life through this club. Another community activity I enjoy doing is related to performing, but at senior citizen homes. Some of my friends and I often just like to get together with some music and go sing for them. This is a rewarding experience, as seeing the senior citizens smile, and making their day better, is truly a heartwarming experience every time I have the chance to perform for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Junior Research Paper Topics Junior Research Paper I chose to research the University of California Riverside for several reasons. I wanted to attend a four year university that was in California, was reasonably close to home, had similar weather that I was used to, and had a large campus with a medium to large amount of students. UCR seemed to fit that description best, and it appealed to me most because of how close to home it is. UCR is within 20 minutes from home, and it meets all of the other requirements I wished for in a college that I would like to attend. UCR is one of the easier California Universities to get into, which is anothermajor reason why I chose this college. The University of California Riverside will be a perfect fit for both my personal needs and my career because of the environment the college is located in, the amount of students attending and extra curricular activities avalible, and the ease of the application process and the acceptance rate....show more content... The most popular majors at UCR are currently social sciences, business, management, and bilogical and biomedical sciences. • 9. Motivation for High School Students Essay 1 Milestone3: Motivation for High School Students Sharon Robinson Walden University 2 Milestone 3: Motivation For High School Students With so many of life many failure attempts to succeed in life, we see those individuals that have dropped out of school and feel that their life now seems meaningless. Their determination or will power wasn't strong, and they had no one to push them forward to want to be a better person or succeed in life. Some students today feel that all they have to do is just attend school just because of their parents' wishes for them to receive a diploma. Some feel that classes are boring and frustrating and a waste of time and energy. Why do students of today feel this way?...show more content... Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing fun and games, praise, and love within the classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more interesting. Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their likes and dislikes. They should know what particular student need help in what particular subject. Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers should consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high school students, implementing cooperative learning strategies with their lesson plans while students show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they tend to learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are excited about attending class because they already know something very eventful is going to take place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so. They are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and what some of their greater skills may be. • 11. Most people see teachers and professors in the same light. They perform similar tasks. They teach. However, they are separated by a fine line of distinction. High school teachers help a student build a foundation of knowledge, and train the student to focus on learning. College professors help to shape and define a student's foundation of knowledge, and challenge the student to cultivate the mind. High school teachers and college professors have similar goals and guidelines, but they take a differing approach to achieving the end result. The way the class is conducted, academic expectations, and view of student responsibility are a few of the contrasts between high school teachers and college professors. A high school class...show more content... The student is responsible for knowing what is required and when it is due. For example; I once asked my math professor if we would have a homework assignment for the weekend and he did not answer me. One of the other students told me to look in the syllabus for the homework assignment. I was embarrassed that I had asked and now I save my syllabus for the entire course. Academic expectations are different between high school teachers and college professors as well. The academic expectations of teachers are focused on memorizing and regurgitating facts and can be met with minimal effort on the part of the student. High school teachers tend to point out the relationship between subjects so that the student has no choice but to see the connections. Furthermore, the student is expected to merely do the homework, and be able to recite the lesson to earn a passing grade. Memorization is the primary focus. For example; students are required to memorize the multiplication tables even if they don't understand the concept of multiplication. I was one of those students that did not understand multiplication and as a result, I forgot the multiplication tables almost as soon as math class was over. Whether or not the student actually understands the material is second to being able to recite the material. This demonstrates a much lower academic expectation compared Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay about Higher Education Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in order to achieve his financial and/or personal goals. Teenagers who attend college use their extended schooling to further obtain knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to enhance one's abilities for his future. A student can learn from school in numerous ways, but liberal education is not a way to attract students into further and higher education. However, students can learn a lot more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose's theory that education needs are reached to obtain a higher academic level by teaching students information that can be related to their personal...show more content... However, he has not thought about the students who want to attend college and quickly earn their degree so they can start their careers. I disagree with Bloom because he encourages the idea of taking extra irrelevant classes to achieve the experience of education. It usually takes about four years to earn a bachelors degree. There are many courses such as English, math, history, art, etc. that a student must go through before they get to start on the classes that concentrate on their intended major. These basic courses are part of a program called general education. After completing general education (which usually takes about two years), the students can then begin to study for their degree. Colleges should abandon the law of students having to take general education courses because the courses are irrelevant to their field of study, unnecessary and a waste of time. Instead of taking the extra courses, students can simply meet their needs of a degree in a shorter period of time. Also, Bloom not only that wants students to take general education courses, he wants them to further their education by taking advanced irrelevant courses. Therefore, in their future, they would have numerous opportunities for a better career. Because if a job is not right for the student, he would have other choices to obtain a new job. Rose feels students should not learn from the canon books style. Students have an easier time learning when they relate to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. My High School Year Essay There was a point in my time where I enjoyed school and took pleasure in attending school and that was elementary. Those were the best school years of my life, having nothing to care about, the school lunch was unbelievably amazing and we had recess. Middle school was manageable but was also beginning to become tough because the classes were becoming difficult. As we approach the beginning of ourhigh school career, parents and teachers always tell us students that it's the best four years of our life, which in my case I did not find high school fascinating or enjoyable. I found high school to be very stressful, overwhelming and not easy, understanding that the next four years of my life will be filled with obstacles and challenges that I will face. I knew that I would have challenges with my courses, but I did not think I would have trouble with my emotions such as feeling depressed, sad, or that I would cry every other day, but to some teachers or parents thought it was normal for teenagers because we are going through different phases of our life. My freshman year was probably the best year of my high school year but I did face many challenges. I was immature, did not obey my teachers, always getting in some sort of trouble. I was carefree, fun, outgoing and had decent memories whether they were good memories or bad memories. Towards the middle of my freshman year I found out that I had Hyperthyroidism, and was quite confused and did not understand what it meant. As I Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Essay on High School Internships High School Internships When thinking about graduating high school and going into college, do you ever think that you will get a job right when you graduate? Yes that may be the case for some individuals but for the more technical jobs and the ones that require more schooling for, look for student who have experience with their major. It is important to know the different internships that are offered throughout high school and college. It's great knowing that Missoula has these wonderful connections with the hospitals. I guess my real question is that why don't they offer any internships through the school year and only during the summer? I want to know why the only common internships for the medical field are offered during summer hours and not during the school year. Frenchtown High School 2013–2014 Registration Course Selection Guide stated that "Frenchtown requires student to have 24 credits to graduate. As you get older you are offered more elective classes to take. You have eight classes per semester attending four each day" (6). Most students toward the end of their senior year already have 20–22 credits, meaning you only need two more credits to be eligible to graduate. These seniors have so much time on their hands, and they end up taking work releases or classes they don't enjoy doing. As a senior myself I find myself taking classes that I don't need, but take just to fill in a class period. Having this said, there is so much time on their hands to be able to do an internship during the school year, and not just in the summer. • 18. Student Loans Research Paper Student Loans: The Plight of Students The concept of student loans in nothing out of the ordinary. They have existed for decades. However, they continue to catch young students by surprise. Due to the education inflation of student loans, attending college for young students is becoming increasingly unaffordable, especially middle–class students. Fortunately, a potential resolution for the lack of preparedness, planning, and knowledge has been introduced, which is the "Payback" game. In the first article, "The Cost of College: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" written by Mike Patton in 2015, the main idea is that as education costs have soared over the past few decades, fewer students can afford a college education. Furthermore, if the education...show more content... Thus, it would aid in completing college and repaying student debt. Lieber (2017) introduces the concept with, "Starting this week, he [Tim Ranzetta] has a new tool in what has become a yearslong campaign to fill that gap [lack of knowledge of student loans]: a free, interactive, web–based game called 'Payback.'" Being the fifth of six children and aspiring to attend college, Ranzetta learned all about the system of student loans as a teenager. When his older siblings began to send their own children to college and knew little to nothing of students loans, Ranzetta turned to student loan consulting. In doing so, he received many calls from many different people who desperately needed aid in dealing with student loans. Eventually, he began to work with Jenny Nicholson, one of the creators of "Spent," on his concept of his game, "Payback." The game, "Payback," asks players to consider a variety of expenses, such as dorm supplies and textbooks. Additionally, there is a rapid–fire class registration simulation that has dire consequences if not acted upon quickly enough. During this time, a total of your debt is visible. What makes this game most effective is the track of your balance of focus, connections, and happiness during all four years of college. Lieber (2015) concludes the article with, "In an ideal educational world, experimental games like this would be core elements of a financial literacy master class that every high school student would Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Why I Chose High School Essay After graduating from Conroe High School, I want to attend to Lone Star College Montgomery simply because it's closer to where I live, and because it's more affordable than any other state institution. I really don't feel like going to another college that is far away from home, because that would mean that I would have to stay in campus which is more expensive. I want to go to Lone Star for two years to complete my basics. The cost per semester at LSC is $800, so the total cost per two years at LSC is $3,200. It would've probably been more affordable if I had taken Dual Credit classes in high school to earn college credit and to accelerate my college completion, but I wanted to make my high school life easier by taking level classes. To say the least, I was too much of a coward to challenge myself. Lone Star is perfect for me because most of my friends will attend there. If I need help with any of my school work in college, it'll be easier to reach my friends. Whereas, if we went to different colleges, we would have to drive really far just to see each other. Also, if I my car ever breaks down and I'm left without a ride to college, then I know that I can count on my friends for a lift. As gratitude for their help, my friends know that...show more content... It is a fraction of the cost of a four year university. For instance, former high school graduates that are going to TX A&M have to pay about $4,575 per semester. The University of Texas beats A&M with $98. While in Lone Star College you only have to pay about $800 per semester. What a tremendous difference! I am aware that if I went to Lone Star and I'm competing with someone that went to one of those famous and expensive state institutions, then I know that I most likely won't get chosen by whichever job I was applying for, but that won't make me regret having chosen LSC. I'm glad that I chose to attend to Lone Star College Get more content on HelpWriting.net
