 Joints
 The Axial Skeleton
 The Appendicular Skeleton
 Functions of Bone
3. SYNOVIAL JOINT
• Synovial joints allow for smooth movements between the
adjacent bones. The joint is surrounded by an articular capsule
that defines a joint cavity filled with synovial fluid. The
articulating surfaces of the bones are covered by a thin layer of
articular cartilage
• Synovial fluid, also known as joint fluid or synovia, is a thick
liquid located between your joints. The fluid cushions the ends
of bones and reduces friction when you move your joints. It also
provides nutrients to some bone tissue
CURVATURES OF THE SPINE
LORDOSIS:
• Lordosis is the inward curve of the lumbar spine (just above the
buttocks). A small degree of lordosis is normal. Too much curving is
called swayback.
KYPHOSIS:
• Kyphosis is curvature of the spine that causes the top of the back
to appear more rounded than normal. Everyone has some degree
of curvature in their spine. However, a curve of more than 45
degrees is considered excessive
SCOLIOSIS:
• Scoliosis is where the spine twists and curves to the side
