RIF is a pioneering martial arts club in St Petersburg started in the early 1980s by a group of karate enthusiasts. This presentation is compiled by the club's founders.

To hide our Karate
practice from
authorities, as a cover
up, I. Messing signed a
contract with local
technical college to
build a gym for
boxing.

our practice:

situation, we
polish it. If it
fails, it gets
forgotten.

We took approach of
concentrating our practice
and efforts on the
disciplines with full contact
competitions and
established rules.
Kickboxing and box were
priority during that time.
However, our students
participated in
Karate, Sanda, and Hand
Combat competitions as
well.
