The GMOseek project aims to develop new screening methods for genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to improve GMO monitoring and detection. The project involves 6 partners across Europe who will work on 4 work packages. Work package 1 will develop a GMO matrix and algorithm to identify new screening elements. Work package 2 will develop new real-time PCR screening methods. Work package 3 will develop a DNA hybridization screening method. Work package 4 will produce reference materials and validation guidelines. The expected results are a updated GMO matrix, new screening methods validated for use, reference materials, and validation guidelines.

PCR Primer Design Tool for Sanger Sequencing Confirmation
High data quality and accuracy are recognized characteristics of Sanger re-sequencing projects and are primary reasons that next generation sequencing projects compliment their results by capillary electrophoresis data validation. We have developed an on-line tool called Primer Designer™ to streamline the NGS-to-Sanger sequencing workflow by taking the laborious task of PCR primer design out of the hands of the researcher by providing pre-designed assays for the human exome. The primer design tool has been created to enable scientists using next generation sequencing to quickly confirm variants discovered in their work by providing the means to quickly search, order and receive suitable pre-designed PCR primers for Sanger sequencing. Using the Primer Designer™ tool to design M13-tailed and non-tailed PCR primers for Sanger sequencing we will demonstrate validation of 28-variants across 24-amplicons and 19-genes using the BDD, BDTv1.1 and BDTv3.1 sequencing chemistries on the 3500xl Genetic Analyzer capillary electrophoresis platform.
FDA/EMA Inspection - Regulatory Expectations in Early Phase Clinical Trials
FDA, EMA and other regulatory agencies routinely perform both announced and unannounced phase I clinical investigator inspections, in order to verify the accuracy and reliability of data that has been submitted to the agency, and to provide real-time assessment of the investigator’s conduct of the trial to ensure human safety.
Preparing for a clinical inspection involves making sure that all aspects of your clinical trial are up to code. This includes being able to provide all required documents that prove that your trial is GCP compliant.
A short summary of SGS CPU experience in ensuring site compliance prior to/during an agency inspection, as well as the importance of conducting site internal quality management is presented in this presentation.
