- I'm here today to talk to you about 4 products from a company called Atlassian, which are very effective at sharing information, improving collaboration, managing demand, and helping staff and managers work more productively, whilst reducing email and increasing visibility. The products themselves are low cost, very rich in functionality, and work out of the box. Typically we do short engagements to customise them for the precise requirements of the customer. We've helped people ranging from IT companies to global shoe manufacturers, and the issues of collaboration and visibility have similarities. We use it internally to manage our own work processes, from marketing through to software development. I hope that you see something here today where you think it might be able to help.
- We resell, consult and train We are a reseller (so you can buy the software from us) via the G-Cloud
- Working solo is easy, but you have of visibility of what everyone else is doing. Work gets duplicated or missed.

- Each page has versions, and is the one true copy. The whole site is searchable, so documents can be discovered easily. Every document has a link. Documents can be made public. New documents can be based upon templates for consistency. It is all hosted within a database. Like an internal, controlled Wikipedia, with APIs. User access is controlled with permissions.
- Main point: Different stakeholder work on the same platform to manage software projects Product manager get an overview when a specific version will be ready and what needs to be done. Dev managers get insights what developers are working on and manage the scope of a projects. Developers can see what other team members are currently working on and track the work in progress. Core doesn’t have Kanban boards
- Scenario: Hospital in Cambridge, mental health recovery ward. Fiancee of one of my colleagues is a mental health nurse. Risk Assessment: when a recovering mental health ward – every time a patient who wants to leave the ward, a nurse asks questions, the patients answer, then the results are recorded. There is a form that has to be filled out each time. This is include things like: need for continued care, medication, transport, ensure contact details are correct, etc Currently paper based. Then later on, it is manually entered into a system. Two people doing this work. But to create a system for it, outweighs the benefit. JIRA – lets you have a bunch of different forms, all with different workflows, which you can report on, complete with auditing and security. Quick wins at improving efficiency. A robust platform which can be used to solve lots of smaller problems for which it is uneconomic to create bespoke systems. Makes them much more efficient, with minimal outlay. Easy way of getting rid of paper without creating customized systems. Potentially a very low cost way of streamlining a lot of things without needing expensive custom system builds. In this example, you can prevent two people duplicating things. Applicable to lots of processes where you are consuming information and needing to report on it, using a workflow. Can easily customise this. Avoid expensive custom software builds by customising JIRA projects for different purposes. Makes people more productive, potentially lowers IT costs by trying to minimise complex bespoke systems. Front line staff become more productive.

- JIRA Service Desk is built as an add-on on top of JIRA. It provides an out of the box experience that transforms any JIRA project into an IT Service Desk in a matter of minutes. Because it's built on top of JIRA, you get all the power and flexibility of JIRA. At the same time, JIRA Service Desk allows you to bring together IT operations and the development team, without the need for complex connections to other systems and managing multiple systems. We need scenarios. Say a graphic of "customers" being serviced by a "team of agents". Example of teams: HR, IT service desk, facilities management, GP practice. "Customers" could be hospital staff or patients Powerful reporting for demand management - understand where your resource is being spent, plus workflows for approvals, and calls to other systems

- Docker was using a mix of email, word processing, and spreadsheets for content collaboration and documentation. As Docker began ramping up in 2014, they realized they needed a more centralized system for maintaining communications and preserving tribal knowledge.
