1. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF
TEACHING SPEAKING BY
USING SPOOF TEXT AT
ELEVENTH YEAR
STUDENTS OF MA

MOJOGENENG
2. Background of
the research
○There are many media for teaching speaking class that can be apllied
by the teachers in order to make their students be active and enjoyable
in learning English. The kinds of media can be applied for teaching
learning process as like games, story joke, audio visual, text, etc.
○Utilizing that problem, the teachers can use teaching media by using
spoof text to solve the problems. With spoof text, the teachers can make
the activity in the classroom become fun, specially in speaking class.
Spoof text is one of genre of texts. Spoof text is text which tell factual
story with funny story. The social function of spoof text is to tell an

Objective of the Research
The objectives of the research was to measure
and to know whether teaching speaking by
using spoof text is effective or not at

Research Design
4
In this research, the design that is used is pre experimental research. There will be one group
students being treated in the experiment of teaching speaking by using spoof text. It is called pre
experimental research, because this research is done by giving pre test, treatments and post test
for one group, and there is no control group.
Subject of the Experiment

6. Discussion
○ From the result of pre-test and post-test showed a
significant different. There was significance difference
between before and after being taught by using spoof text.
In this case, the data got from table statistic (paired samples
statistics) there is significant difference of mean of pre-test
is 62.63 and mean of post-test is 69.13.
○ Furthermore, the researcher to emphasize the significant
different of pre-test and post-test used t-test. The result of
statistical computation value of t-test is 6.750 while t-table
with degree of freedom (df) 31 at 5% degree of significant
is 2.04 or at 1% degree of significant is 2.75. it is found that
the result of computation value t-test is higher than the
value of t-table. Then, it is interpreted that there is
significant difference between the results of pre-test and
post-test
