with emails.

managing their emails.

help them out
and write
subject lines
that click!
Just follow the guide.
Keep your subject lines
SIMPLE
1
1. Write short phrases and aim for 3 to 6
words (or 15 to 30 characters)
2. Capitalize the first letter of each word
3. Write numbered subject lines
Keep your subject lines
STRAIGHTFORWARD

1. Be direct and specific by saying what
your email is about
2. Use the right words, such as “invitation”,
“introducing”, or “new”
Keep your subject lines
ENGAGING

1. Personalize your subject line using “you”
or location-specific offers
2. Create urgency by pointing out
deadlines/limited quantity
3. Ask questions
4. Change your subject line each time

1. Don‟t do all caps („all caps‟ means that
you‟re yelling)
2. Don‟t abuse exclamation points if you
don‟t want to sound overexcited

1. Don‟t be too generic and try to spice up
your subject line a little
2. Don‟t beg your subscribers to open
your emails
3. Don‟t use dates, number issue, or
sender info (they don‟t bring anything
valuable)

TOO SALESY

1. Don‟t write a subject line that reads like
an ad
2. Don‟t choose overused words, such as
“free”, “help”, “dollars”, “percent off”, or
“urgent”
3. Don‟t be misleading (if you are, your
readers won‟t trust you anymore)
If you follow these guidelines,
you will double your open rate
in just a few months!
