You will then write a 2-3 page report, in the first person (as if you are the person you’ve been assigned) using the following guidelines: ü Research the role. · Contact your instructor at least three weeks before this assignment to make sure you have chosen an indigenous group. Numerous students have made mistakes in understanding what is meant by indigenous. Please review your readings. It is also best to NOT choose a group in the United States (they have assimilated to U.S. Culture and it can be difficult to write paper).
You will be constructing an ethnography of an indigenous culture of your choice. To help you choose an indigenous culture, I would recommend starting at these websites:

Final Presentation Interview Script
Nine discusses their experience as a Student Ambassador and President of the organization at their international high school. They focus on how the ways of knowing, specifically language and emotions, impacted their role. As communication was challenging with diverse students, Nine learned to consider word choice and nonverbal cues to facilitate understanding. Our group will study and present information about misunderstandings when study/travel abroad - notices for learning two cultures, and how to avoid misunderstanding. (we will focus on Chinese students and American students and their academic behaviors.)
Research Problem/Research Hypothesis
Most foreign language learning classes do not tell students the misunderstandings may happen when you study/live abroad.
Theoretical Framework.
Our research is informed by online resources through Miami University library such as articles, books and news. Also, we will combine with class’s reading materials to discuss. Then we will interview several Chinese students and American students to obtain useful information to our project.
Methodology
Our methodology include searching materials online,interview Miami students who have experience study abroad or travel abroad and professors who have experience about teach them. Also,we search about the video for learning foreign language in class.
Significance/Broader Impact

While Jody was riding north, twenty-six-year-old Charles Jodouin, his wife Jeanne, and her parents Omer and Lucie Fortin, were driving south from Timmins to visit Jeanne's sister in Kingston. Despite the late hour, traffic in both directions was fairly heavy. They were less than three miles out of North Bay when, suddenly, the left rear wheel spun off an oncoming converted school bus: it flew straight into the grill of a pickup truck moving south just ahead of the Jodouins. Then, out of control, the camperbus skidded across the centre line and sideswiped the Jodouins' blue Ford. A split second later a brand-new Mercedes, travelling behind the camper, also slammed into the Jodouins.
