5. What does Baptism symbolizes – It symbolizes three things: 1.) A cleansing, a washing away - remission - forgiveness of sins. (Acts 22:16, Acts 2:38) 2.) A burial and rebirth -- a death to the old Adam -- a resurrection to newness of life. (Romans 6:3 – 4) 3.) A union with Christ, a partaking of his righteousness and the effects of his sacrifice ( 1 Cor. 12:12-13) When you get baptized it shows you are serious about your commitment to the cause of Christ. (Acts 8:26-40)
6. What is the proper way to do Baptism – Baptism should be by immersion (Baptizdo – To dip) Should we baptize babies – No, Baptism is a symbol of repentance. Nobody should be baptized if you do not understand it’s significance If Baptism is a symbol that you are a sinner and that you acknowledged your sins and that you have repented of your sins why did Jesus get Baptized when he was sinless? – To fulfill all righteousness (vs. 15), to identify with sinners (Isaiah 53) and to symbolize his death. (Luke 12:50)
7. 2.) The Anointing of the Spirit vs. 16 He was anointed by the Holy Spirit for service (Psalm 45:7) He was being granted strength in his humanness. (Isaiah 61:1)
8. 3.) The Word of the Father vs. 17 “This is my beloved son, in whom I well pleased”
