The California Supreme Court ruled that an employer will be liable for injuries sustained by individuals due to the negligent driving of one of its employees, stating the following:
A person injured by someone driving a car in the course of employment may sue not only the driver but that driver's employer. The employer can be sued on two legal theories based on tort principles: respondeat superior and negligent entrustment.
Respondeat superior, a form of vicarious liability, makes an employer liable, irrespective of fault, for negligent driving by its employee in the scope of employment. The theory of negligent entrustment makes an employer liable for its own negligence in choosing an employee to drive a vehicle.
Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper, written in the third-person voice, that addresses the following:
· Explore types of principal-agency relationships and determine what type of relationship exists in this case between the driver, Jose Carcamo, and the company, Sugar Transport of the Northwest, LLC.
· What course of action do you recommend with respect to the lawsuit and Carcamo's employment?
· Does Sugar Transport's Human Resources department have any responsibility for their role in hiring Carcamo? If so, what other employment law issues do you find legally problematic concerning the hiring of Carcamo? Identify them and explain the legal issues and laws that were violated.
Include justification for your responses by citing applicable laws and/or legal cases in your discussion.
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines, and include headings that appropriately signal topics and keep your document organized.Use a minimum of three different sources within the paper in addition to the laws and legal cases required above, and provide in-text citations. Any laws and legal cases used in the body of your Individual Assignment: Diaz v. Carcamo Legal Analysis

Case Analysis/Scenario
The Senior Vice President of Human Resources has just informed you that she would like for you to research various HRM practices of Fortune 500 companies. This research will be presented to the board of trustees next month. They want to review other company’s best practices to help them realign their strategic initiatives. In organizational studies, the process of reviewing other organizations’ best practices and adapting them to one’s own organization is called “benchmarking.”
Begin by identifying 2 -3 organizations listed in the Fortune 500. Once you have identified those companies, research best practices used by those organizations, paying particular attention to these HRM functional areas:
· Recruitment/On boarding
· Training & Development
· Employee/Labor Relations
· Performance Management
· Compensation & Benefits Incentives/Practices
To begin your paper, provide a summary of key details about the organizations you are using to benchmark HRM best practices. Who are the organizations? What do they do? Why are they a good candidate for benchmarking? This section of you paper only needs to be a paragraph or two.
For the next section of your paper, evaluate the pros and cons of the best practices you have benchmarked in each functional area. For example, if external recruitment is a “best practice,” what are some pros and cons of external recruitment? As a guide, your evaluation of best practices in each functional area should be 1 to 2 pages.
For the final section of your paper, justify the top best practices recommendation in each HRM functional area that you will make to the board of trustees. Imagine that you are actually going to present the recommendations to the board. What will you recommend? Why? How will you link them altogether to form a cohesive and persuasive presentation? Hint: Based upon your evaluation of those best practices in the earlier sections of the paper, summarize the key arguments and research support for your recommended practices to justify them to the board. This section of your paper should be 2 to 3 pages in length.
Submit your report as an eight to ten page paper written in APA format to the Drop Box.
Paper should include at least 5 references in APA format.
Research hints…
In addition to searching for the specific organization name “and best practices” or “best HRM practices,” you might find it helpful to search for the specific organization name “and recruitment.” “Specific organization name and training & development,” and so forth. For example, if Walmart is one of your organizations, search terms could include:

· Walmart and Onboarding
· Walmart and Training & Development
· Walmart and Employee Labor Relations

Assignment 1: Staffing Plan for a Growing Business -BUS 335-
Due Week 6 and worth 280 points
Please choose from one (1) of the scenarios below. Note: The scenario that you choose in this assignment will be the one you continue to use for Assignment 2.
Scenario 1
You are a Human Resources Manager of an expanding technology company consisting of 170 employees that develops and distributes small electronic devices. Over the past two (2) years, a research group formed, designed, and built prototypes of small remote surveillance cameras used for security. Recently, your company won a contract to build and provide these remote surveillance cameras to various government agencies. The contract will begin with your company supplying these cameras to agencies within your home state. If all orders are fulfilled sufficiently, the contract will be expanded to supplying agencies outside of your home state.
For the immediate future, you will need to secure a larger facility and hire more staff to sustain the first part of the contract. This staff will consist of ten (10) Assembly Technicians, one (1) Certified Quality Control Engineer, one (1) Contract Administrator, and one (1) Office Support Paraprofessional. Meanwhile, there is a contract clause requiring that you provide a staffing plan in order to ensure future product deliveries and sustain the possible future growth.
Scenario 2
You are a former certified education administrator who departed your former position to become the owner of a small, in-home day care consisting of you and a part-time assistant where you care for children from age three (3) to age ten (10). Over the course of time, your demographic population has increased due to significant business growth that has resulted in many families relocating to your area. With more businesses projected to move to the area and the building of new housing developments, it is projected that this growth could be long term.
You have decided that this is a good opportunity to expand your day care business as you have received many inquiries for childcare. In order to comply with your home state regulations, you will require a larger facility and will need to hire additional staff in order to sustain the larger demand for day care. This staff will consist of five (5) Certified Day Care Professionals, one (1) Registered Nurse Professional, five (5) After-School Assistants, and one (1) Office Support Paraprofessional. You have secured approval for a bank loan and qualify for future loans for future expansion if your current endeavor is successful. Meanwhile, the state in which you operate has requested that you provide a staffing plan before it will issue licensure for your expanded capacity.
Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of these assignments.
Select one (1) of the scenarios and write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you:

The document proposes developing a skills taxonomy to address problems recruiters face in evaluating job applicants. It discusses related work on skills taxonomies, which lacked comprehensive relationship information or public availability. As a motivating example, it describes using an individual's Stack Overflow posts and tags to create a skills cloud, but initial methods produced noisy results. A hybrid approach is proposed that seeds a taxonomy with public resources like Wikipedia and identifies skills and relationships through data mining. Experimental results showed a 98% classification rate.

2. Open with an engaging introduction of the topic of your report. Include one (1) title slide and one (1) introductory slide.
3. For the body of your presentation, cover the main points of your report. Create slides that reinforce and illustrate your main ideas. Follow basic design principles for effective slide content.
4. For your single closing slide, finish with a memorable wrap-up statement that refocuses on the purpose of your report.
5. Use PowerPoint voice-over and / or the notes section to present your slides.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
· Include a title slide containing the title of the assignment, your name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The title slide is not included in the required slide length.
· Format the PowerPoint presentation with headings on each slide, and two to three (2-3) relevant graphics (photographs, graphs, clip art, etc.) throughout the presentation, ensuring that the presentation is visually appealing and readable from 18 feet away. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
· Slides should abbreviate the information in no more than five or six (5 or 6) bullet points each.

1. What two conditions must be met before an entity can be classified as a weak entity? Give an example of a weak entity.
The Two conditions that must be met to be classified as a weak entity are under :
1. The entity must be associated with another entity ,called identifying or owner or parent entity. That it is existence dependent on parent entity.
2. The entity must inherit at least part of its primary key from its parent entity.Only than it would be a valid and strong primary key.

For example, the (strong) relationship depicted in the above Figure shows a weak CLASS entity:
1. CLASS is clearly existence-dependent on COURSE. (You can’t have a database class unless a database course exists.)
2. The CLASS entity’s PK is defined through the combination of CLASS_SECTION and CRS_CODE. The CRS_CODE attribute is also the PK of COURSE.
The conditions which define a weak entity are similar to the strong relationship between an entity and its parent. In short, you can say, the existence of a weak entity produces a strong relationship. And if the entity is strong, its relationship to the other entity is weak.
Whether or not an entity to be weak it is usually dependent on the database designer’s decisions. For instance, if the database designer had decided to use a single-attribute as shown in the text’s Figure below., the CLASS entity would be strong. (The CLASS entity’s PK is CLASS_CODE, which is not derived from the COURSE entity.) In this case, the relationship between COURSE and CLASS is weak. However, regardless of how the designer classifies the relationship – weak or strong – CLASS is always existence-dependent on COURSE.

2. What is a strong (or identifying) relationship, and how is it depicted in a Crow’s Foot ERD?
A strong relationship exists / occurs when an entity is existence-dependent on another entity and inherits at least part of its primary key from that entity. The Visio Professional software shows the strong relationship as a solid line. In other words, a strong relationship exists when a weak entity is related to its parent entity. As discussed in the above question Class , the weak entity is related to strong entity Course with the help of a relationship called CONNECT which is a showing /identifying a strong relationship. As shown in the above figure a strong relationship is represented by two decision boxes… One inside another embedded together represent this.

IT 655 Milestone One Guidelines and Rubric
Presentation for the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Overview:
IT professionals are often tasked with optimizing, tuning, and resolving various errors associated with large commercial database systems. As the world becomes
more and more focused on the collection and use of data for various purposes, there is a greater need for building database applications that serve numerous
complex functions. The final assessment will provide a comprehensive overview of the concepts, techniques, and skills that you have acquired throughout the
course. The ability to interface a database management system with other applications and even third-party services is a commonly performed task in this
discipline. The scenario, presented below, provides a real-world situation in which such skills will need to be employed.
Scenario:
The County of Everstone is a large county in a densely populated state in the United States. This county has a total of 34 incorporated cities within its boundaries.
Overall, the county has a population exceeding 4 million residents. The county employs a proprietary database management system that is responsible for the
county’s property tax assessment, parcel, and payment information. In a recent initiative, the county has been highly promoting the use of its online property tax
payment and lookup information to reduce mailed payments and in-office visits. The marketing campaign for online property tax payments and information
lookup has been highly successful. However, the county’s database systems have not sufficiently handled the increased traffic. As such, the web application
available to residents often experiences high amounts of latency, frequently locks up, or in many instances is unavailable.
The board of directors has asked executive IT management to look into the issue and provide a prompt resolution to the matter. A review of the hardware and
software systems that the database management systems employ reveals that these systems “should” be able to take the capacity and load. Therefore, the IT
management has ruled out the hardware systems as being the issue. Upon further investigation, a lead database systems administrator preliminarily reports that
the issue appears to stem not from the hardware, but rather from a need to provide performance tuning on the database. The database design seems to be the
culprit, since this database systems administrator noted large quantities of duplicated data, poorly written database queries, and triggers.
Furthermore, the chief information officer (CIO) has also directed the web programmers and web developers to look at the web application for potential issues.
The web development team has reported that while no design or programming issues were found with the web application, the stored procedures (queries) that
it runs from the database server take long periods of time to run and frequently lock up the web server ...

Accident Up Ahead!
JANICE TYRWHITT
THE NORTHBOUND BUS had scarcely left North Bay, Ontario, when-at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 1975-it came to an abrupt halt. Peering out the bus window at Highway 11, Jody Stevens saw a line of taillights stretching into the night. "There must be an accident up ahead," she said to her seatmate. "I had better get out and help." Jody, a young nurse from Toronto, was on her way home to spend Thanksgiving (and celebrate her twenty-fourth birthday) with her family in Timmins. An October drizzle soaked her shoulders as she trudged past a quarter mile of stopped traffic to an eerie scene. In the flickering light of Coleman lamps and road flares, she saw the two-lane highway spattered with blood. An old school bus converted into a camper lay on its side in the ditch. A hunter's pickup truck was stalled in the left lane, the bodies of two moose lolling grotesquely from the back. Off the right shoulder was a silver Mercedes-Benz with a smashed hood. In the lane between them a silent ring of people had gathered round a fourth vehicle-a blue 1973 Ford, a crumpled wreck, with four people in it.
"I think they're all dead," a burly man told Jody.
She caught her breath and thought, Well, Stevens, what do you do now? Jody had packed a lot of experience into the two years since her graduation as a registered nurse, most recently at the Toronto East General Hospital. She threw off her corduroy coat and crawled into the back seat of the crushed car.
While Jody was riding north, twenty-six-year-old Charles Jodouin, his wife Jeanne, and her parents Omer and Lucie Fortin, were driving south from Timmins to visit Jeanne's sister in Kingston. Despite the late hour, traffic in both directions was fairly heavy. They were less than three miles out of North Bay when, suddenly, the left rear wheel spun off an oncoming converted school bus: it flew straight into the grill of a pickup truck moving south just ahead of the Jodouins. Then, out of control, the camperbus skidded across the centre line and sideswiped the Jodouins' blue Ford. A split second later a brand-new Mercedes, travelling behind the camper, also slammed into the Jodouins.
Scrambling into the wrecked blue Ford, Jody found herself in a welter of blood and splintered glass. Trapped in the driver's se.

Assignment 3: Justification Report – Presentation
Now that you have completed your report, it is time to design and present your findings. Your task is to organize and develop the three (3) parts (introduction, body, and closing) of an effective presentation, based on your Justification Report (Assignment 2.3). Chapter 12 in our text provides overall information on presentation format, content, and delivery. Please do not simply cut and paste your justification report content to the slides. Instead develop clear, concise content that enhances your presentation narration or notes. Remember that your slides are meant to be highlights and your audience should not spend a great deal of time reading from the slides but instead listening to you present the concepts.
Create an eight to ten (8-10) slide presentation in which you:
1. Ensure that your PowerPoint presentation fulfills the appropriate length requirements and professional style requirements.
· Slide titles should be based on the criteria being summarized (e.g., “Four Key Attributes,” “Responses to Budget Issues,” etc.).
Assignment Checklist
· Descriptive titles on each of the slides
· Text contains concise, precise content
· Graphics convey the idea described by the slide text
· Statements in bulleted lists have a parallel structure

The California Supreme Court ruled that an employer will be liable.docx
1. The California Supreme Court ruled that an employer will be
liable for injuries sustained by individuals due to the negligent
driving of one of its employees, stating the following:
A person injured by someone driving a car in the course of
employment may sue not only the driver but that driver's
employer. The employer can be sued on two legal theories based
on tort principles: respondeat superior and negligent
entrustment.
Respondeat superior, a form of vicarious liability, makes an
employer liable, irrespective of fault, for negligent driving by
its employee in the scope of employment. The theory of
negligent entrustment makes an employer liable for its own
negligence in choosing an employee to drive a vehicle.
Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper, written in the third-person
voice, that addresses the following:
· Explore types of principal-agency relationships and determine
what type of relationship exists in this case between the driver,
Jose Carcamo, and the company, Sugar Transport of the
Northwest, LLC.
· What course of action do you recommend with respect to the
lawsuit and Carcamo's employment?
· Does Sugar Transport's Human Resources department have any
responsibility for their role in hiring Carcamo? If so, what other
employment law issues do you find legally problematic
concerning the hiring of Carcamo? Identify them and explain
the legal issues and laws that were violated.
Include justification for your responses by citing applicable
laws and/or legal cases in your discussion.
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines, and include
headings that appropriately signal topics and keep your
document organized.Use a minimum of three different sources
within the paper in addition to the laws and legal cases required
above, and provide in-text citations. Any laws and legal cases

2. Carcamo Legal Analysis
Purpose of Assignment
This assignment gives students an opportunity to understand
employment relationships in its various forms: principal-
agency, independent contractor, employer-employee at-will, and
non-compete contractual agreements. Students are tasked with
understanding how legal liability can occur to an organization
arising out of the doctrine of respondeat superior or vicarious
liability as it is also known. It further allows students to assess
how negligent hiring can result in negative consequences for an
organization.

Phase 1- Database Design and DDL
I contracted to design and develop a database for CTU
that will store individual and confidential university data. This
database is required to give the back-end engineering to a front-
end web application with an instinctive User/Interface (U/I) to
be utilized by the college HR office. We've chosen to utilize
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 given the way of information to be
put away because it will be more secure, and it additionally
gives a suite of server upkeep apparatuses to be deserted with
the IT Department once the database and web application have
been tried and acknowledged by college partners.
Amid our preparatory gatherings, CTU's necessities
were characterized and enough perused to start making of the
database. The accompanying areas contain the business tenets
and element tables created amid the preparatory gatherings, and
additionally duplicates of all the SQL code used to manufacture
the database and make the Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD).
Business Rules & Entity Tables
Business Rules:
· A student has a name, a birth date, and gender.
· You must track the date the student started at the university
and his or her current GPA, as well as be able to inactivate him
or her without deleting information.
· For advising purposes, store the student's background/bio
information. This is like a little story.
· An advisor has a name and an e-mail address.
· Students are assigned to one advisor, but one advisor may
service multiple students.
· A class has a class code, name, and description.
· You need to indicate the specific classes a student is
taking/has taken at the university. Track the date the student
8. started a specific class and the grade earned in that class.
· Each class that a student takes has 4 assignments. Each
assignment is worth 100 points.Entity Tables:

Phase 2 – Security and DML
Carrying on from Phase 1 undertakings of making our college
database, with the four tables of Students, Advisors, Classes,
and Students_Classes, Phase 2 calls for information to be
embedded, erased, and refreshed. The INSERT articulation has
two approaches to enter. The positional embed embeds
requested esteems into another line in a similar request of the
table segments. A named-section embed names the correct
segment where each esteem's embedded into another line. Its
great practice to utilize a named-segment embed, which permits
your SQL code to work if the table's sections are reordered or
another segment is included. You would utilize INSERT
VALUES to determine segment esteems, and INSERT SELECT
to embed columns from another table. Some DBMS don't make
it obligatory to utilize the INTO watchword after the INSERT
articulation; be that as it may, you ought to utilize it for its
transportability abilities. (Fehily, 2008)
The UPDATE explanation is utilized to change esteems in a
table's current columns. You should be extremely careful when
utilizing the refresh explanation on the grounds that on the off
chance that you neglect to include the "WHERE" statement, you
will refresh all lines rather than simply your objective columns.
Keep in mind that each refreshed esteem needs to have similar
information sort or be absolutely convertible to an
indistinguishable sort from its segment. (Fehily, 2008)
The DELETE explanation is somewhat more capable in light of
16. the fact that it’s used to erase a whole line, not just a segment
or sections. You can erase only one or all columns of a table, so
be mindful of the erase explanation moreover. Without the
WHERE proviso, every single table column will be erased.
(Fehily, 2008)
Task 1
The first task was to insert data into four rows of the Classes
table. The following SQL code is what I used to accomplish the
task, followed by the screenshot of the query being executed
successfully.
INSERT INTO [Cameron_CTU].[DBO].[Classes]
( [ClassCode], [ClassName], [Description] )
VALUES
( 'ACCT306', 'Accounting 1', 'This course introduces
accounting concepts and explores the accounting environment.
It covers the basic structure of accounting, how to
maintain accounts, use account balances to prepare financial
statements, and complete the accounting cycle. It
also introduces the concept of internal control and how to
account for assets.' ),
( 'CS362', 'Structured Query Language for Data
Management', 'This course gives complete coverage of SQL,
with an emphasis on storage,
retrieval, and manipulation of data.' ),
( 'ENGL115', 'English Composition', 'In this course,
students focus on developing writing skills through practice and
revision.
Students will examine expository, critical, and
persuasive essay techniques.' ),
( 'FIN322', 'Investments', 'This course focuses on
investments and investment strategies. Various investment
vehicles such as stocks,
bonds, and commodities are examined. Students
17. will explore the principles of security analysis and valuation.' )
(Fehily, 2008)
Task 2
The second task was to insert data into three rows of the
Advisors table. The following SQL code is what I used to
accomplish the task, followed by the screenshot of the query
being executed successfully.
INSERT INTO [dbo].[Advisors]
( [FirstName],
[LastName],
[EmailAddr] )
VALUES
( 'Fred', 'Stone', '[email protected]' ),
( 'Bob', 'Gordon', '[email protected]' ),
( 'Jack', 'Simpson', '[email protected]')
(Fehily, 2008)
Task 3
The third task was to insert data into four rows of the Students
table. The following SQL code is what I used to accomplish the
task, followed by the screenshot of the query being executed
successfully.
INSERT INTO [dbo].[Students]
( [FirstName],
[LastName],
[BirthDate],
[Gender],
[StartDate],
[GPA],
[IsActive],
[Bio],
[AdvisorID] )
VALUES
( 'Craig', 'Franklin', '1970-03-15', 'm', '2010-05-30', 3.10, 'Yes',
'', 3 ),
18. ( 'Harriet', 'Smith', '1982-04-15', 'f', '2010-05-30', 3.22, 'Yes',
'', 1 ),
( 'George', 'David', '1984-11-05', 'm', '2010-10-01', 0.00, 'Yes',
'', 3 ),
( 'Ben', 'Jefferson', '1976-09-25', 'm', '2009-02-21', 1.80, 'No',
'The student has gone on temporary leave to pursue other
opportunities but plans on returning in 1 year.', 3 )
(Fehily, 2008)Task 4
The fourth task was to delete the course named Investments
from the system, and the following SQL code is what I used to
accomplish the task, followed by the screenshot of the query
being executed successfully.
DELETE FROM Classes
WHERE ClassID = 'FIN322';
(Fehily, 2008)
Task 5
The fifth and final task called for changing 2 columns in a row
on the Students table, and the following SQL code is what I
used to accomplish the task, followed by the screenshot of the
query being executed successfully.
UPDATE Students
SET BirthDate = '1982-04-25',
GPA = 3.25
WHERE StudentID = '2';
(Fehily, 2008)
Phase 3 - DML (Select) and Procedures
Stage 3 has seven errands that call for recovering
information utilizing the SELECT and FROM Statements. The
SELECT condition calls for which section or segments to show,
and the FROM proviso distinguishes the table or tables the
19. segments have a place with. You can likewise utilize the AS
statement with a specific end goal to make segment assumed
names, which I'll go over in the last couple of errands. You can
likewise sort columns with the ORDER BY condition, which I'll
additionally hit on in the assignments. The WHERE provision
channels undesirable columns. Without it, you result would be
each column on your questioned table. Some other proclamation
conditions incorporate AND, OR, ORDER BY GROUP BY,
JOIN. There are two sorts of JOIN provisos. They are Implicit
and express. Certain is utilized a considerable measure, and you
may not understand your utilizing it because there is no genuine
JOIN proviso with JOIN in it; its suggested when you're
questioning more than one table. Let’s begin with the
assignments now, might we?
(Fehily, 2008)
The main thing will do is fix my SQL proclamation in the Phase
2 segment, Task 5. I settled it by utilizing StudentID in the
SELECT proviso. Task 1
The first task calls for a list of all active male students
assigned to Advisors 1 or 3.
So, we want to query the Advisor. Advisor ID, FirstName and
LastName columns along with the Students. AdvisorID,
FirstName, LastName, Birthdate, Gender, and GPA columns of
the Students and Advisors tables. We use an implicit JOIN with
the WHERE clause to JOIN the two tables of Student.
AdvisorID and Advisor. AdvisorID together. Below, you’ll find
the SQL Statement I used to retrieve the required data, and
screenshot that shows a successful query.
SELECT Gender, IsActive, AdvisorID
FROM Cameron_CTU.dbo.Students
WHERE Gender = 'm'
20. AND IsActive = 'yes'
AND AdvisorID IN (1,3)
Task 2
The second task asks for a list of students without a
biography. Here’s the SQL Statement I used, and screenshot
that shows a successful query.
Task 3
Task 3 is a very simple statement asking what classes are in the
English Department. This SQL statement involves a wild card
just after the L in the word “English”. The SQL statement and
its associated screenshot are below.
SELECT ClassCode, ClassName
FROM Cameron_CTU.dbo.Classes
WHERE ClassName LIKE 'ENGL%'
Task 4
Task 4 calls for a list of all students and their advisors, and
sorted by Advisors, and a few columns from the Students table
SELECT A.AdvisorID, A.FirstName, A.LastName,
S.AdvisorID, S.FirstName, S.LastName,BirthDate, Gender,
GPA
FROM Cameron_CTU.dbo.Students S,
Cameron_CTU.dbo.Advisors A
WHERE S.AdvisorID = A.AdvisorID
ORDER BY A.LastName, S.LastName ASC;
SELECT A.CustomerID, A.FirstName, A.LastName,
S.AdvisorID, S.FirstName, S.LastName,BirthDate, Gender,
21. GPA
FROM Cameron_CTU.dbo.Students S,
Cameron_CTU.dbo.Advisors A
WHERE S.AdvisorID = A.AdvisorID
ORDER BY A.LastName, S.LastName ASC;
Task 5
The fifth task calls for the number of students born in the 80s.
Below, you’ll find the SQL Statement I used to retrieve the
required data, and screenshot that shows a successful query.
SELECT COUNT (StudentID) as Students_born_in_the_80s
FROM Cameron_CTU.dbo.Students
WHERE BirthDate between '1980-01-1' AND '1989-12-31';
Task 6
Task 6 wanted to know the average GPA score sorted by
men and women. Here is the SQL code and screenshot.
Task 7
Task 7 is looking for all the advisors with only 1 student.
Here’s the SQL code and screenshot.
SELECT A.firstname, A.LastName,
COUNT (A.AdvisorID) AS Total_Active_Students
FROM Cameron_CTU.dbo.Students S,
Cameron_CTU.dbo.Advisors A
WHERE A.AdvisorID = S.AdvisorID AND S.IsActive = 'yes'
GROUP BY A.FirstName, A.LastName
HAVING COUNT (S.StudentID) = '1';
Phase 4 – Architecture, Indexes
Stage 4 requires an approach to track classes required for
degrees, and which degree understudies are seeking after. We
were given the errand of making a table for following degrees
22. with Degree Name and Degree Description. Nonetheless, the
most ideal approach to track the classes required for degrees is
to make a table named "Degrees" with sections marked
'DegreeID', 'Degree Name' and 'Degree Description', and
'Degree Code'. Additionally, adding a segment to the "Classes"
table, named DegreeID will help connect the "Degrees" and
"Classes" tables. After the tables have been made, I'll have to
test the engineering to guarantee it can render the outcomes I'm
searching for in questions. (Fehily, 2008)
Be that as it may, I simply got my review for my Phase 1 IP
with distinguished mistakes. See Phase 1 area for settled
mistakes. The blunders that need rectified are:
- Considerations with respect to my information sorts and field
lengths: FirstName and LastName too long
Fix imperatives for assignments 1 through 4 to guarantee just
0-100 can be information.
- Fix GPA Constraint to guarantee contribution of just 0.00 –
4.00, and allow just 3 add up to digits after decimal.
- Constrain "Sex" to either M or F, and IsActive to either Yes or
No.Step 1: CREATE TABLE [Degrees]
I’ll start by creating the table, ‘Degrees’ with the following
DDL script, followed by a screenshot of the query being
completed successfully, and the table structure that displays the
table columns to include the PRIMARY KEY, ‘DergeeID’.
USE [Cameron_CTU]
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Degrees]
(
23. [DegreeID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) PRIMARY KEY NOT
NULL,
[DegreeName] [varchar](50) NOT NULL,
[DegreeDescription] [varchar](1000) NOT NULL,
[DegreeCode] [varchar](50) NOT NULL,
)
Step 2: Re-create ‘Classes’ TABLE to add ‘DegreeID’ column
and INSERT 6 classes
The next step is to delete and re-create the ‘Classes’ table,
and ensure that the ‘DegreeID’ column is included in the
creation, and made a FOREIGN KEY. Also, ensure you re-
insert the original 3 classes, and add 3 new classes into the
‘Classes’ table required by different degrees. And since you’ve
re-created the ‘Classes’ table with ‘DegreeID’ as a FOREIGN
KEY, make sure you add it to the INSERT INTO DDL script or
you’ll receive an error regarding the ‘DegreeID’ column.
Below are the following DDL scripts, followed by a screenshot
of the queries being completed successfully, and the table
structure that displays the table columns with ‘DegreeID’ as a
FOREIGN KEY, and the query results of the SELECT * FROM
Classes query.
USE [Cameron_CTU]
GO
24. SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
SET ANSI_PADDING ON
GO
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Classes]
(
[ClassID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) PRIMARY KEY NOT
NULL,
[DegreeID] [int] NOT NULL,
[ClassCode] [varchar](50) NOT NULL,
[ClassName] [varchar](100) NOT NULL,
[Description] [varchar](1000) NOT NULL,
)
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Classes]
ADD FOREIGN KEY([DegreeID])
REFERENCES [dbo].[Degrees]([DegreeID])
GO
INSERT INTO [Cameron_CTU].[DBO].[Classes]
( [DegreeID], [ClassCode], [ClassName], [Description] )
VALUES
( '4', 'ACCT306', 'Accounting 1', 'This course
introduces accounting concepts and explores the accounting
environment. It covers the basic structure of accounting, how to
maintain
accounts, use account balances to prepare financial
statements, and complete the accounting cycle. It also
introduces the concept of internal control and how to account
for assets.' ),
25. ( '5', 'CS362', 'Structured Query Language for Data
Management', 'This course gives complete coverage of SQL,
with an emphasis on storage, retrieval, and manipulation of
data.' ),

course, students focus on developing writing skills through
practice and revision. Students will examine expository,
critical, and persuasive
essay techniques.' ),

course introduces Psyhology concepts that will serve as the
foundation to other concepts, such as Motivation and Emotion
and Interpersonal
Communications and Dynamics.' ),
( '4', 'CSS150', 'Introduction to Computer Security',
'This course covers Computer Security Principles, such as
Policy letters, Remote Logins, and Network Security.' ),
( '5', 'CS126', 'UNIX Fundamentals', 'This course
teaches you thed origins of the UNIX Operating System, and
teaches you how to build directories.' )
Step 3: ALTER TABLE [Students]
As the paragraph title implies, the next step is to add the
‘DegreeID’ column to the ‘Students’ table, and make it a
FOREIGN KEY. Below is the following DDL script used to add
the column, and make it a FOREIGN KEY, and the screenshot
of the successful command.
USE [Cameron_CTU]
GO
26. ALTER TABLE Students
ADD DegreeID [int] NOT NULL
GO
ALTER TABLE Students
ADD FOREIGN KEY (DegreeID)
REFERENCES Degrees(DegreeID)
Step 4: DML script to insert 3 test records in [Degrees]
The next step is to insert degree data into the ‘Degrees’
table. Below is the DML script used, and a screenshot of the
successful command along with an inset of the results for a
SELECT * FROM Degrees statement.
INSERT INTO [Cameron_CTU].[DBO].[Degrees]
( [DegreeCode], [DegreeName], [DegreeDescription] )
VALUES
( 'BSIP', 'Bachelor of Science in Psychology', 'The Bachelor’s
degree in General Psychology is designed to prepare students to
successfully navigate in the 21st century workplace, in a variety
of careers that focus on the business of people, including but
not limited to work in management, administration, research,
and sales. It is positioned to provide an overview of the major
psychological concepts, perspectives, and skills that explain
human behavior. ' ),
( 'BSIS', 'Bachelor of Science in Information Security', 'The
Bachelors of Science in Information Assurance and Security

response, viruses, malware, spam, encryption, and other
infrastructure security techniques that include governance and
strategic alignment of IT and business. ' ),
27. ( 'BSIT', 'Bachelor of Science in Information Technology', 'The

curriculum includes both a common core, as well as
specialization-specific courses. The BSIT core provides a strong
foundation in the key information technology areas of

databases, and ethics.' )
Step 5: DML script to INSERT INTO the ‘Students’ table
‘DegreeID’ data
The next step is to add the ‘DegreeID’ to 4 records
applicable to each of the 4 students. Below is the DML script
used to execute the command and a screenshot showing it was
successful.
INSERT INTO [Cameron_CTU].[dbo].[Students]
( [FirstName],
[LastName],
[BirthDate],
[Gender],
[StartDate],
[GPA],
[IsActive],
[Bio],
[AdvisorID],
[DegreeID] )
VALUES
( 'Craig', 'Franklin', '1970-03-15', 'm', '2010-05-30', 3.10, 'Yes',
NULL, 3, 3 ),
( 'Harriet', 'Smith', '1982-04-15', 'f', '2010-05-30', 3.22, 'Yes',
NULL, 1, 4 ),
( 'George', 'David', '1984-11-05', 'm', '2010-10-01', 0.00, 'Yes',

'The student has
gone on temporary leave to pursue other opportunities but
plans on returning in 1 year.', 3, 3 )
28. The last step is to execute a SELECT statement with an
implicit JOIN clause to show what degree each student is
pursuing.
USE Cameron_CTU
SELECT FirstName, LastName, Students.DegreeID,
Degrees.DegreeName
FROM Cameron_CTU.dbo.Students,
