The biosphere is the largest ecosystem on Earth, consisting of the planet and all living things inhabiting it. It contains producers like plants that produce their own food from sunlight, as well as consumers at different trophic levels - primary, secondary and tertiary consumers - that eat producers and other consumers. Decomposers also play a role in breaking down remains and returning minerals to the soil. Food chains within the biosphere are interconnected through feeding relationships between different organisms.
