Barcode wristbands can significantly improve patient safety and reduce medical errors by ensuring patients receive the correct medication and treatment. Up to a quarter of medical errors in European healthcare facilities are due to illegible, missing, or incorrect wristbands. Barcode wristbands allow for quick and accurate patient identification when wristbands are scanned, saving time spent on administrative tasks and improving the accessibility of patient records. Implementing barcode wristbands can reduce costs by streamlining processes, cutting down on paperwork, and decreasing the risk of costly medical errors.

The buyer’s journey is changing sales models and how B2B sales teams sell. Sales 2.0 as a sales technique has been around nearly ten years now but still many companies struggle to embrace it. If you are in B2B sales then Forester projects that over the next four years, 1 million B2B sales people will be replaced by self-service e-commerce. Those that want to have a long term career in sales will have to up-skill and move away from transactional selling while companies will have to embrace a sales model along with sales processes that adds value to the buyer’s journey.
Here are some social media facts, trends and social media statistics to help inform how or where a business might focus their social media strategy.
Remember that today, social media is allot more than just likes, followers or branding. It is a complete publishing and sales channel with the ability to tap into large volumes of data together with a reach that stretches into the millions of buyers.
Here are some insights and case studies from 4 of the speakers who will be at QSP Congress. We asked them 4 questions and compiled them into one document. They give real personal opinions on some of the topics that are so far defining the adoption and application of systems pharmacology.
Does a trip to your doctor fill you up with dread? Sure - the medicinal, sterile odor of your local doctor’s office does very little to alleviate the nerves, but many patients suffer an anxiety that far surpasses fear of needles, or even the off-kilter measurements of the clunky, GP scale: it’s the fear of waiting.

How do we see the healthcare's digital future and its impact on our lives?Jane Vita
"Healthcare is undergoing major changes spurred on by, but not limited to, technology.
Digitalisation is changing the way we think about health, what taking care of it really entails, our personal role in healthcare systems and the way we interact with technology in the context of health.
In many ways, we are entering a post-institutional age of increased personal responsibility, which presents healthcare service providers and other players in the field with major opportunities and great risks. Technology has the potential to empower people and help them become more active in the management of their and their families’ health. This will change the relationship of the patient and the caregiver in profound ways."

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

3. FACT
All across healthcare facilities in
Europe, illegible, missing or
incorrect wristbands are
responsible for almost a quarter
of medical errors, involving
medical administration.
4. FACT
Up to 10% of in-patients in
Europe experience fatal or
near fatal incidents as a result
of rushed, illegible notes,
missing wristbands , and
human error.
5. FACT
It has been estimated by the NHS that
preventable harm from medicines could cost
more that £750 million a year ...
...In the USA, medical errors claim as many as
98,000 lives a year and is the 8th leading cause
of death.
6. With legislative demands constantlychaning,
and budgets and staffing levels pressurised,
it is important that patient care is not
compromised. To provide the highest
standards of care, patient data needs to be
available, accurate and reliable.
Barcode wristbands are the most effective
method of ensuring that patient’s receive
the appropriate medication, as perscribed,
every time.
8. Accuracy:
Once a patient’s information is entered accurately
on admittance, they can be positively identified and
treated every time their wristband is scanned.
Barcode scanning is more accurate than manual
data recording.
9. Time Saving:
This method greatly reduces time spent on
administrative tasks and allows healthcare
workers to focus on patient care.
10. Improves patient safety:
The immediate accessibility and the
improves quality of the patients records
allows staff to treat them on the spot, as
unlike paper files the barcoded
wristbands travel with the patient
around the hospital.
11. ‘Virtual Voice’:
The wristbands provide patients
with a ‘virtual voice’ in their care
from start to finish, even when
conversation isn’t possible.
12. Reduce the risk of human error:
By digitalising identification and
record keeping it can greatly
reduce the risk of human error.
There will be no more illegible
notes, missing notes,
misinterpreted dosages etc.
13. Reduce costs:
Going paper free, cutting
down on admin duties and
reducing the risk of
negligance can decrease
the costs dramatically.
