The Baroque Period lasted from 1600 to 1750. It was characterized by ornate, grand spatial designs and theatrical styles according to Fiero (2006). Some notable artists from this period included Caravaggio, El Greco, Bernini, and Rubens. Their works featured dramatic lighting, emotional expression, and illusionistic space which exemplified the Baroque emphasis on grandeur and drama.
