1. The American revolution pt.2 Saratoga: turning point of America’s Revolutionary War By, Richard m. Ketchum Tyson Gannon
2. 1 At Saratoga, the British campaign that was supposed to crush the American rebellion ended instead in a surrender that changed the history of the world. Thanks to Saratoga, France entered the war as America’s ally. It was a profound political and social upheaval, it was also a dirty, bloody, civil war as well as a struggle for freedom.
3. 2 What seems to have kept the rebels going were four powerful convictions; reverence for their maker, love of country, devotion to their family, and a deeply held belief in freedom. Sometime before April 2, Washington’s told him that the British were trying to locate pilots who knew the Delaware River, lending credence to the possibility that they would move on Philadelphia by sea.
4. 3 General Arthur St. Claire arrived in Philidelphia during june 1777 to take command of the post at Ticonderoga. Rattlesnake Hill and Ticonderoga were two very valuable posts and battle ground during the war. Rattlesnake hill was ideally situated for a defensive position.
5. 4 On the 18th of july, 1776, fatigue parties were clearing Rattlesnake Hill when word of Congress declaring the “united states of America” free. On July 28th troops were paraded. On june 14th congress reached agreement on the design of U.S. flag. The united states became a beacon of hope.
