The first arc he carved with his thumb stopped a little red pickup that took him over the horizon. Like his mythical hunter companion, Orion, he was on a vision quest, propelled toward the dawn to have his sight restored.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

"Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend

mean really, I'm not European, I don't plan on being European, so who
gives a crap if they're Socialists? They could be Fascist Energists for all
I care, it still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car. Not that I
condone fascism, or any ism for that matter. Isms in my opinion are not
good. A person should not believe in an ism, he should believe in
himself. I quote John Lennon, 'I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in
me.' Good point there. After all, he was the Walrus. I could be the
Walrus- I'd still have to bum rides off people." -Ferris Bueller's Day Off
8. Gwendolyn Brooks - Poet Laureate 1985
Sadie and Maud
Maud went to college.
Sadie stayed at home.
Sadie scraped life
With a fine-tooth comb.
She didn’t leave a tangle in.
Her comb found every strand.
Sadie was one of the livingest chits
In all the land.
Sadie bore two babies
Under her maiden name.
Maud and Ma and Papa
Nearly died of shame.
When Sadie said her last so-long
Her girls struck out from home.
(Sadie had left as heritage
Her fine-tooth comb.)
Maud, who went to college,
Is a thin brown mouse.
She is living all alone
In this old house.

The Miracle on ice is considered by some to be
the greatest moment in the history of U.S.
sports. It wasn't the final game of Hockey in the
Winter Olympics, being held in Lake Placid, NY,
but it was the qualifying game. If the U.S.
defeated Russia it would go on to compete for
the gold. This was a pivotal moment since the
U.S. and Russia were currently engaged in the
Cold War. With only ten minutes remaining in
the last period, captain Mike Eruzione made a
20-foot wrist shot to win the game. The U.S.
would go on to defeat Finland in the final
game, winning the gold in 1980!

1925 Filim-Gold Rush starring Charlie Chaplin
Poem The Good Night and Good Morning of Federico Garcia Lorca
He knew he was asleep and was dreaming
Of a beautiful poem. It seemed to be singing
Itself in the night, and he woke
In a bed in a room in an old hotel
And lay there, hearing the song go on
Though he could see the shape
Of his empty shirt on the straight chair
And his empty shoes on the patch of carpet
Made light, half by the moon
And half by the gray beginning
Of dawn. He could see the silhouette
Of his own hand against the window shade
Like a flower, open and waiting. He smiled
At the foolishness of loving his own poem
In his own dream, of accepting praise
From his own shadow. But his mind's eye
Kept seeing that poem and his real ear
Kept hearing that same song. It came from the street
Under his window, and before he knew why,
He was out of bed and shivering his way
Into what were some of his clothes
http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu
http://www.poetryfoundation.org/journal/audioitem.html?id=2244
And one of his shoes and stumbling
Into the hall and down the unlighted stairs
And through the lobby (where the clerk was dreaming
Something else), through the stubbornly locked door
And along the sidewalk to the curb where the singer
Was sweeping trash and leaves along the gutter
With his slow broom, who now stopped, his mouth
Open to gape at an apparition
Holding a scrap of paper up to his face
And begging him to read aloud. The sweeper whispered
He couldn't read. And Lorca took him
Into his arms and kissed him and kissed
The morning air, now stirring what was left
Of the leaves overhead, and went limping back
Through a door that stood wide open
