What is the Texas STaR Chart? Aligns with the  Texas Long Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020. Purpose is to assist ALL classroom teachers for assessing needs and setting goals for the use of technology to support student achievement. Will help Texas meet it requirements of technology literacy mandated by  No Child Left Behind, Part II. http://starchart.esc12.net/    
Four Areas of Focus Teaching and Learning :  Measures patterns of classroom use; content area connections; technology applications TEKS implementation and student mastery of technology applications. Educator Preparation and Development :  Measures professional development experiences; capabilities of educators; levels or understanding and patterns of use and professional development for online learning. Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support:   Measures leadership and vision; planning; budgeting; support for online learning.
Four Areas of Focus Cont. 4.   Infrastructure for Technology:   Measures students per computers; internet access/connectivity speed; other classroom technology; technical support; LAN capability and distance learning capacity.
Levels of Progress Each of the Four levels of Focus are measured by ranking various indicators in one of four catergories:   Early Tech Developing Tech Advanced Tech Target Tech   The goal of each teacher and district in the State of Texas is to reach level four of Target Tech.

Trends for Center ISD The STaR Chart trends for Center ISD are very positive in nature overall. Overall highest ratings are in Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support and Infrastructure for Technology. Very Positive Leadership and vision ratings are a direct reflection of the active leadership and Technical Support teams we have in place. Still must strive toward Advanced Tech in all key areas of the STaR Chart evaluation survey.  
Summary/Conclusion The Texas STaR Chart should be used as a guide for all schools to achieve their technological goals and help Texas to achieve our Long Range Plan for Technology goals for 2020.     Teachers should complete this survey each year with honesty so that accurate data can be collected and used to measure our current state of technology use in our schools and classrooms.
