2. What exactly Divisibility
means?

3. Divisibility tests help us
to discover whether a
number has a factor
other than 1 and the
number itself.

4. Example:
15 is divisible by 3, because
15 ÷ 3 = 5 exactly.
But 9 is not divisible by 2
because 9 ÷ 2 is 4 with 1 left
over.

5. The digit in the ones place
should be 2, 4, 6, 8, or 0.
Example:-
43568 is divisible by 2
63783 is not divisible by 2

6. The sum of the digits of the
number should be divisible
by 3.
Example:-
5742 = 5 + 7 + 4 + 2 =18
34564 = 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 3 = 22

7. The last two digits (tens & ones)
should be divisible by 4.
Example:-
43584 is divisible by 4
637813 is not divisible by 4

8. The digit in the ones place should
be 5 or 0.
Example:-
656750 is divisible by 5
23155 is divisible by 5
76543 is not divisible by 5

9. The sum of the digits of the
number should be divisible
by 9.
Example:-
1359 = 1 + 3 + 5 + 9 = 18
32688 = 3 + 2 + 6 + 8 + 8 = 27
34564 = 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 3 = 22

10. The digit in the ones place
should be 0.
Example:-
656750 is divisible by 10
23155 is not divisible by 10

11. The difference of the sum of the
alternate digits of a number should
be either 0 or a multiple of 11.
Example:-
245762
2 + 5 + 6 = 13
4 + 7 + 2 = 13
13 – 13 = 0
