The combination of the main product (film "The Passage") and ancillary texts (poster, teaser trailer, magazine cover) was effective due to consistent elements across all materials. Key elements like titles, taglines, characters, settings, costumes, and color schemes were similar or the same on each item to clearly link them all to the same film. While some individual elements differed slightly based on the format (e.g. tagline presentation, character positioning), the shared components ensured viewers would recognize all pieces as part of the same marketing package advertising "The Passage". This cohesive multi-pronged approach helped promote awareness and interest in the film to their intended target audience.
During the research, planning and construction stages of their project, the student used various media technologies. Blogger, Google Search, YouTube, cameras on mobile phones, and Microsoft Word were used for research and planning purposes. DSLR cameras, Final Cut Pro, Google Search, Adobe Photoshop were used in the construction stage to film, edit, and design their music video and print products.

Small British film distributors use their company websites, social media, downloads, and recommendations to distribute lower budget films. Scream Productions would be interested in the film as they produce thrillers and horror films. TME Productions was ultimately chosen over Rogue Pictures or 20th Century Fox for their experience with lower budget films and lower costs. The filmmakers wanted the film to be funded by the national lottery which supports lower budget films. The document discusses the plans and feelings of graduate students in Mexico. Many students are unsure of their career paths, with some wanting higher paying jobs, starting businesses, or continuing part-time work full-time. Others plan to work in family businesses or obtain a master's degree for better opportunities. While salaries are lower than other Mexican states and obstacles exist for new businesses, students feel secure living in their region.
This document summarizes the key elements and design choices in the title sequence for a student film project. The opening establishes the production company in title credits using simple white text on black. Scenes of a news report set the thriller genre and were styled after real news channels like BBC. The film title "Thr33" represents the number of kidnapped teenagers. Costumes were kept basic to seem realistic, while the kidnapper wore all black and had a concealed identity. Special effects drew attention to clues like a discarded cigarette. Credits and camera work maintained a consistent professional appearance. Locations advanced the plot and set the autumnal season.

The document contains audience feedback from a test screening of a film. The feedback includes ratings in different categories like mise en scene, camera work, editing, and sound. It also lists strengths like good editing, effects, and a compelling news report sequence. Weaknesses mentioned are that the titles only included first names, not enough sound was used to build tension, and the opening title card was displayed too briefly.

The document discusses how businesses can improve their marketing and sales in order to increase profits and reduce the risk of failure. It notes that 60% of new businesses fail within six years and 82% fail by their 10th anniversary, often due to not understanding their market or being undercapitalized. The document recommends optimizing hidden marketing assets, using a multi-pillar marketing system that leverages different approaches simultaneously, and systematizing marketing processes. It presents three ways for businesses to achieve exponential growth: increasing prospects, improving conversion rates of prospects to customers, and increasing customer value. The key is taking a performance-based approach that leverages all marketing assets in a coordinated multi-pillar system.
This document discusses targeting a film to 15-24 year olds as the primary audience. Research found this age group most commonly enjoys thrillers. Characters were designed between ages 15-16 to allow the audience to relate to them. Secondary research of comparable films like Taken and The Strangers showed 15-24 year olds had the highest viewership. The document profiles 16 year old Emily as a representative target viewer, noting she enjoys scary movies, chick flicks, shops at popular teen stores, and watches programs like TOWIE and Glee. She saw Taken 2 recently and the film is meant to appeal to viewers like her.
The document discusses the props, software, and techniques used to create a film title sequence. A tripod was used to keep the camera stable for most shots. Final Cut Express was used to import, edit, and add effects to shots, including fading and using green screens. Soundtrack allowed adding background music and sounds. Live Type was used to create titles of varying styles, fonts, sizes, and effects to make the title sequence eye-catching while keeping it sophisticated. The same colors were used throughout to keep it organized.

The student used various new media technologies at different stages of constructing their horror film project. In planning and research, they used SlideShare, SoundCloud, Internet Explorer, Popplet, YouTube and Mahara to search for inspiration, take notes, and keep all work organized. They created drafts and received feedback using YouTube, Mahara and peer reviews. For production, they used GarageBand, SoundCloud, Final Cut Pro X, Photoshop and Illustrator to edit footage, sound, and design posters and magazines. Finally, they used YouTube, SlideShare and Popplet to evaluate their work and document how they incorporated feedback.
The magazine cover features Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes in the center surrounded by plugs advertising other articles. The capitalized title engages attention. The elements like price and barcode are unobtrusively placed. The cover uses conventions like prominent central imagery and plugs to attract readers.
The role of the distributor is to market and distribute films by setting release dates and determining exhibition methods. Film marketing requires huge budgets as movies must be hits upon release to recoup costs. Most blockbusters are based on existing popular media to guarantee audiences. Word of mouth on social media can instantly help or harm ticket sales. Studios try to build brand loyalty through franchises and sequels to more easily market future films.
This document discusses company idents used in film trailers and provides recommendations for creating an ident for a horror genre teaser trailer. It notes that company idents normally include a logo built up in frames with graphics and text, and have a black background to make the logo stand out brightly. For horror teaser trailers specifically, the document observes that most only show a 1-3 second flash of the logo due to the short length of teasers. It recommends creating a dark, dull ident to fit the horror genre, and including an ident in their own teaser to make it look more professional.

The document analyzes posters for four horror films: Paranormal Activity, The Exorcist, Sinister, and Insidious. For each poster, the document examines elements like direct address, main images, text, lighting, color schemes, and layouts. It provides details on how each element contributes to effectively conveying the films' horror genres.
