This document defines and provides examples of the five main types of sentences: declarative sentences that make statements and end in periods, exclamatory sentences that show emotion and end in exclamation points, imperative sentences that give commands and end in periods or exclamation points, interrogative sentences that ask questions and end in question marks, and fragments that are incomplete thoughts lacking necessary punctuation or grammatical elements to be considered a full sentence.
