Guidelines and Grading Rubric
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to explore the specialty of telehealth, and more specifically telenursing, as one example of the use of technology in various practice settings. Advantages and disadvantages for the patient and legal and ethical principles for the nurse of this technology will be explored.
Course Outcomes
This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:
CO #2: Investigate safeguards and decision-making support tools embedded in patient care technologies and information systems to support a safe practice environment for both patients and healthcare workers. (PO #4)
CO #6: Discuss the principles of data integrity, professional ethics, and legal requirements related to data security, regulatory requirements, confidentiality, and client’s right to privacy. (PO #6)
Points
This assignment is worth a total of 200 points.
Due Date
Your completed paper is due at the end of Week 4. Submit it to the basket in the Dropbox by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. mountain time. Post your questions to the weekly Q & A Forum. Contact your instructor if you need additional assistance. See the Course Policies regarding late assignments. Failure to submit your paper to the Dropbox on time will result in a deduction of points.
Background
Our text (Hebda, 2013) provides us with a broad perspective on telehealth. However, the specialty of telenursing is only briefly discussed. Healthcare is readily embracing any technology to improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, and lower costs. This technology includes the use of various applications based in various environments where registered nurses indirectly provide professional nursing care.
Scenario
The following scenario serves as the basis for your paper:
You have worked with Tomika for the past five years. Tomika shares with you that she has resigned and plans to work in an agency that installs telemonitoring equipment into the homes of those with chronic illnesses. Nurses monitor the patients using the equipment with the goal of detecting problems before patients need to be readmitted to the hospital. Tomika will be working from her own home, with occasional meetings at the agency. She would not be visiting her patients in their homes, but rather would be assessing and interacting with them via videoconferencing. She tells you that there are still job openings and encourages you to apply.
You are intrigued by this, and decide to investigate whether telenursing would be a good choice for you, too. Is telenursing in your future?
Directions
You are to research (find evidence), compose, and type a scholarly paper that describes telenursing as described above, and whether it is a good fit for you. Reflect on what you have learned in this class to date about technology, privacy rights, ethical issues, interoperability, patient satisfaction, consumer education, and other topics. Your text by Heb.

NUR 440 Peer Review Guidelines and Rubric
Overview: The purpose of peer review is to facilitate quality-nursing care through best practice discovered in evidence-based research. According to the
American Nurses Association, “peer review in nursing is the process by which practicing registered nurses systematically access, monitor, and make judgments
about the quality of nursing care provided by peers as measured against professional standards of practice. Peer review implies that the nursing care delivered
by a group of nurses or an individual nurse is evaluated by individuals of the same rank or standing according to established standards of practice.” Peer review
helps not only the author but the reviewer as well through the development of a critical eye which can then be applied to their own work.
Prompt
As the reviewer:
When you peer review another’s work, you will critically evaluate and suggest improvements. You will likely read the abstract once or twice before delving in with
comments and first impressions. Using the checklist below, identify strengths and areas for improvement, being sure to address each critical element in your
review.
Peer Review Checklist:
x Aims and objectives: Is the purpose clearly stated?
x Background: Does the author offer background on the subject?
x Methods: Are the methods clearly stated? What type of method did the author use?
x Results: Are the results valid and reliable?
x Conclusions: Are the conclusions clearly stated and are they informed by the results?
x Relevance to clinical practice: Does the author state the relevancy to clinical practice?
x Articulation of response (e.g., citations, grammar, spelling, syntax, organization)
You will be evaluated on your peer reviews, not the abstract submitted, using the rubric below.
As the author of the abstract, remember the following:
x Read the review carefully, avoiding any desire to defend your choices.
x If you are unclear what the reviewer means, ask them to clarify.
x If you have any questions, feel free to pose them to the reviewer.
x Take special note of repeated commentary (e.g., grammar, citation, etc.) as this may signify an area for improvement.
x Thank the reviewers for their feedback. If some commentary was especially helpful, this is useful information for the reviewer.
x Accept that negative feedback comes with the territory. Your job is not to make everyone happy but to make your work the best that it can be.

Guidelines for Submission: You must submit your abstract to the provided discussion for review by Sunday of the previous module. When choosing two abstracts
for review, be sure to select peers who have not yet received feedback. Each of your reviews should be 2–3 paragraphs in length.

Diss 1First i ask myself what does collect bargaining mean .docxmadlynplamondon
Diss 1
First i ask myself what does collect bargaining mean? as i was doing my reading for this week and some research i found that it means on page 251 the process whereby workers organize under the representation of a union in order to share a degree of power with management to determine selected aspects of the conditions of employment. Then i ask myself how does it effect me as a upcoming nurse or a nurse in the healthcare field? it effects me in many ways i can use being apart of a union to get my concerns addressing and maybe answered such as pay, hours, better benefits, more sick days and paid vacations. Collective bargaining can help you build that relationship and respect between you and your employer and also contribute to stable and productive labor relations. I ask how it effects the patient, i believe they are the most important part of this process if it wasn't for the patients we wouldn't have a union. it affects the patients in many ways such as getting the adequate time/ care from the physicians , less medical errors. One thing that i read was having a positive work place makes it better for the patient and the staff.
Diss2
In my personal opinion, these are great tools for the nurses. Having a Union to represent you in a disagreement that your employer may not understand is of great value. When a group of nurses come together to resolve a common issue and have a union representing them for a collecting bargain is an organized way of hospitals diffusing the fight over power. Sometimes when you go to a nursing supervisor or a manager they are too busy with their own agendas that a recommendation by a nurse may be overlooked. Or having nurses worked short staffed may be working for the nursing manager but not for the actual nurses working the floor.
Having a Union has helped the Nursing profession a great deal because nurses are able to strike and do as they see fit in order to have their employers see their passion without being reprimanded or fired for voicing their opinions. Collective bargaining is the organized way of coming to an agreement. It will not really impact the patient because the Union provides a 10 day letter stating when or where the strike will take place so that the hospital can make prior arrangements to have staff for the patients therefore keeping patients safe at all times

NUR 400 Short Paper Rubric
In the clinical area, you may encounter a situation as the one mentioned below. It is of relevance because liability in clinical practice can occur, and it is vital that
the nurse take appropriate steps to protect her/his license. Further, in this hypothetical, the chief nursing officer is also a named party on the claim even though
she had no direct patient care with the patient (now the plaintiff). Consider how you would proceed in this circumstance.
Prompt: In responding to the hypothetical case study, please use at least three evidence-based sources, as this is a scholarly endeavor. You must internally cite
and list your sources using correct APA format. The paper must be organized using the questions listed below as subheadings. Begin with an introduction and
then proceed with the questions. A conclusion subheading ties the paper together.
Mary Smith, CNO, has just been named in a lawsuit along with two of her registered nurses. The lawsuit arose as a result of a patient’s hip fracture sustained as a
result of a fall. The two nurses named in the lawsuit were caring for the plaintiff on the day of the fall. Mary Smith, as CNO, claims that she had no involvement
with the care that was provided to the patient and cannot fathom that she is also a named party on the claim. The lawsuit alleges negligence and seeks
unspecified damages from all three nurses named.
Discuss the following issues as they pertain to this case:
1. How does liability extend to the CNO?
2. What defenses are available to the CNO? In other words, what evidence can the CNO put forth to show that she should be dropped from the suit?
3. None of the nurses, including the CNO, have liability insurance. Is this a concern? Why or why not?
Guidelines for Submission: The short paper should follow these formatting guidelines: 2–4 pages in length, double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font,
one-inch margins, and citations in APA format (use at least three evidence-based sources).

Case Study, Stage 2: Data Flow Among Health Care Systems
Before you begin this assignment, be sure you have read the “UMUC Family Clinic Case Study”, the course readings assigned to date, and feedback on your graded Stage 1 assignment.
Purpose of this Assignment
This assignment specifically addresses the following course outcomes to enable you to:
· Analyze the flow of data and information among disparate health information systems to support internal and external business processes
· Examine the implications of ethical, legal, and regulatory policy issues on health care information systems
UMUC Family Clinic Medical Practice
In your Stage 1 assignment, you created process models for the patient visit process in the UMUC Family Clinic. For the Stage 3 assignment, you will identify an Electronic Health Records System that will address the process problems at the Clinic. The EHR system you identify will initially be implemented at the UMUC Family Clinic, but will soon need to be able to connect and communicate with external systems. As part of analyzing the requirements for the new system, one step is to consider how that system will enable the UMUC Family Clinic to exchange electronic data with other health organizations – such as other providers, pharmacies, insurance companies, and even patients themselves. The case study mentions several of these. For this assignment you will select two types of external organizations and describe what kind of data would flow between the UMUC Family Clinic and those organizations and how that can be done effectively.
Assignment
1. Review the UMUC Family Clinic Case Study and identify two types of external organizations (e.g., hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, laboratories, pharmacies, etc.) with which the UMUC Family Clinic needs to communicate and the purpose of the communication.
2. Make a list of at least five data elements or items of information that would be shared with each external organization, and explain whether that information is going out from the UMUC Family Clinic or coming in from each of the two external organizations. Note: More than five data elements are required to earn full points.
3. Conduct some external research and find at least one data interchange standard that would apply to the data that is exchanged with each organization. Provide a brief description of what the standard is, what it requires, and why it is important. (There are some specific data interchange standards that apply to health data exchange; if the same standard applies to the data exchange with both organizations, explain how it relates to each.)
4. Research, list and discuss three legal, regulatory, or ethical considerations that would relate to this data exchange and explain what needs to be done to ensure compliance with each. You must include at least one legal/regulatory consideration and at least one ethical consideration.

Create a 3-5 page submission in which you develop a PICO(T) questiCruzIbarra161
Create a 3-5 page submission in which you develop a PICO(T) question for a specific care issue and evaluate the evidence you locate, which could help to answer the question.
Introduction
PICO(T) is an acronym that helps researchers and practitioners define aspects of a potential study or investigation.
It stands for:
· P – Patient/population/problem.
· I – Intervention.
· C – Comparison (of potential interventions, typically).
· O - Outcome(s).
· T - Time frame (if time frame is relevant).
The end goal of applying PICO(T) is to develop a question that can help guide the search for evidence (Boswell & Cannon, 2015). From this perspective, a PICO(T) question can be a valuable starting point for nurses who are starting to apply an evidence-based model or EBPs. By taking the time to precisely define the areas in which the nurse will be looking for evidence, searches become more efficient and effective. Essentially, by precisely defining the types of evidence within specific areas, the nurse will be more likely to discover relevant and useful evidence during their search. When applying the PICO(T) approach, the nurse can isolate the interventions of interest and compare to other existing interventions for the evidenced impact on the outcome of the concern.
You are encouraged to complete the Vila Health PICO(T) Process activity before you develop the plan proposal. This activity offers an opportunity to practice working through creating a PICO(T) question within the context of an issue at a Vila Health facility. These skills will be necessary to complete Assessment 3 successfully. This is for your own practice and self-assessment and demonstrates your engagement in the course.

Professional Context
As a baccalaureate-prepared nurse, you will be responsible for locating and identifying credible and scholarly resources to incorporate the best available evidence for the purposes of enhancing clinical reasoning and judgement skills. When reliable and relevant evidence-based findings are utilized, patients, health care systems, and nursing practice outcomes are positively impacted.
PICO(T) is a framework that can help you structure your definition of the issue, potential approach that you are going to use, and your predictions related to the issue. Word choice is important in the PICO(T) process because different word choices for similar concepts will lead you toward different existing evidence and research studies that would help inform the development of your initial question. When writing a PICO(T)-formatted research question, you want to focus on the impact of the intervention and the comparison on the outcome you desire.

For this assessment, please use a health care issue of interest from your current or past nursing practice.

The Americas were not a wasteland from 900-1500. In fact, they were a very vibrant place with civilizations spawning that still leave an indelible mark on modern America, Mexico, and Canada. While Byzantium was reaching its apex and falling to the Ottoman Turks, the Americas were generating such amazing civilizations as the Incas, the Aztecs, and the Mayas. From the mound building peoples of Cahokia to the Pueblos of the Southwest, the peoples of the Americas showed a real penchant for advanced math and an affinity to the world around them. In fact, when the Spanish came to Mexico in 1519, Cortes found a city in Tenochtitlan that was larger than London! The Aztecs and the Mayas had extremely accurate calendars, powerful weapons, and able administrations. The Incas were said to posses an army that was the equal to any Turkish army in the 1500s. The Aztecs had learned to weave mats and cover them with dirt so that they could plant crops on lakes! Though the Europeans would cross the Atlantic and destroy the civilizations (either over time or immediately), the nations of American natives left us many marks that prove that they too were very advanced.
Please write 6 pages about the Aztecs and their empire, using at least four secondary sources and one primary source (written or made at the time of the society you are researching). Make sure that you use a real style-guide (APA, MLA, Chicago, or Turabian) for your citations.

The American Nazi Party established a website on Yahoo promoting Nazi propaganda and selling Nazi memorabilia from World War II. In the country of France, there is a specific central government law that forbids the promotion of Nazi propaganda and the sale of Nazi memorabilia. This led to three attempts by the French government to force Yahoo to take this website down:
The French government asked Yahoo to take the website down. Yahoo refused on the grounds that it was within the Nazi Party’s First Amendment rights.
A group of French Jewish students filed suit in a French court, and obtained a court order directing Yahoo to take the website down. The French court order was served on Yahoo, but Yahoo refused to comply with this order from a foreign court.
The French government then filed suit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California seeking an order to force Yahoo to take the website down. The court refused on the grounds that the American Nazi Party was acting within their First Amendment rights, and not subject to French laws.
This article: Nazi hunting: How France first “civilized” the Internet is available on the Internet.
So the question becomes: “How will our First Amendment rights survive in cyberspace?" In 1996, and again in 1998, the Clinton Administration passed laws attempting to limit child pornography on the Internet. In both cases, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed suit that went to the Supreme Court which ruled that both laws were unconstitutional, in violation of the First Amendment. China hammered Google’s Internet searches by maintaining control of all servers accessible by hard wire, and forced Google to edit the result of their searches.
How can United States First Amendment rights of freedom of speech on the Internet be forced to comply with foreign legal rules?

E - Commerce Strategies.
Definition and origin of Omni-channel retailing:
i.
What is Omni-channel
retailing
?
Omni-channel refers to a
multichannel
approach to sales that seeks to provide the customer with seamless shopping experiences. It provides the customer with the capability of either
buying
products online from a mobile device or a desktop. Also, customers can shop in bricks and mortar store or by telephone.
ii.
Describe the origin of Omni-channel?
Its
reason for implementing it?
It is a marketing strategy that begun way back 2003 whereby it has evolved from unfamiliar
concept
to trendy buzzword, to a critical component
of
successful marketing. Omni-channel began and
mainly
based itself on Customer Centricity in stores.
Its origin was figured out by
Best Buy
when they realized they could not beat
Walmart
on price. Therefore, the strategy ventured by Best Buy aimed at competing with Walmart
to
out do
them in online retailing.
It is in this regard that technology can blur the distinction between online and physical retailing, hence enabling the retailers and their supply chain partners rethink their competitive strategies.

Current issues in Omni-channel retailing:
i.
What are the current issues of retailers and merchants?
Currently, most retailers and merchants are “Omni-channel” in their behavior and outlook. It is because they are majorly venturing into the offline and online retails channel to do their marketing and sales to clients. Merchants and Retailers in new environment flourish through re-examining their strategies for delivering products and information to their customers.
ii.
What are the impacts of online-offline integration of Omni-channel retailing?
There is a rise of non-significant cannibalization of the physical stores, the small merchants and retailers from the channel integration. The retailers mostly advocate a competitive advantage through channel integration of both offline and online retailing. It has led to the willingness of the customers paying across channels.
iii.
Outline general consideration of innovation in regards to Omni-channel retailing?
Innovations have to address industry, consumer, and regulatory-based challenges in order
to facilitate the globalization of markets. Distinct changes have to be incorporated in the current mature, emerging and less develope.

Terrorism, Crime and Public PolicyTerrorism, Crime and P.docxjonghollingberry
Terrorism, Crime and Public Policy
Terrorism, Crime and Public Policy
, explores the concept of terrorism by examining the meaning of terrorism and questioning the many different interpretations of the label. In order to understand terrorism, the author explores the definitions and typologies of terrorism. "The common modern usage of the term, developed in the mid-twentieth century, regards terrorism as a tool of ethnic and religious fanatics to serve political ends, such as liberation from an alien occupying group, or simply to exact righteous vengeance against a group labeled as a threat or enemy" (Forst, 2007, p. 3).
The article goes on to explore the different definitions, and defining characteristics, such as cell-based networks, political motivation, religious ideology, and the targeting of noncombatants. A large part of terrorism is creating and utilizing fear. The article suggest that managing the population's general fear of terrorism may be more effective than targeting terrorists themselves (Forst, 2007). The article goes on to discuss different viewpoints regarding what terrorism truly is, whether it is a tactic or an ideology.
Forst identifies categories that nearly all acts of terrorism and terrorist groups fit into which help distinguish between the different types of terrorists, terrorist groups, and terrorist acts:
* whether or not politically motivated
* whether or not operating under state authority
* degree of association with larger terrorist organizations or networks
* extent of organization and planning
* whether justified in religious or ethnic terms
* whether aimed primarily at people or at symbolic targets
* the types of people targeted
I found this article interesting, and found the exercise of examining the different definitions of terrorism useful. The author's categories designed for distinguishing between terror related incidents and groups is an interesting tool for examining the differences between terrorist organizations and actors. Personally, I generally attribute the label terrorism to any violent or destructive act, which is primarily motivated by extremist religious or political beliefs. I view terrorism strictly as an ideology, although it is technically possible for entities to utilize terrorism as a tactic, I believe that to carry out acts of terrorism, one must be driven by an extremist ideology.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Telenursing Is It in My FutureGuidelines and Grading Rubric.docx
1. Telenursing: Is It in My Future?
Guidelines and Grading Rubric
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to explore the specialty of
telehealth, and more specifically telenursing, as one example of
the use of technology in various practice settings. Advantages
and disadvantages for the patient and legal and ethical
principles for the nurse of this technology will be explored.
Course Outcomes
This assignment enables the student to meet the following
course outcomes:
CO #2: Investigate safeguards and decision-making support
tools embedded in patient care technologies and information
systems to support a safe practice environment for both patients
and healthcare workers. (PO #4)
CO #6: Discuss the principles of data integrity, professional
ethics, and legal requirements related to data security,
regulatory requirements, confidentiality, and client’s right to
privacy. (PO #6)
Points
This assignment is worth a total of 200 points.
Due Date
Your completed paper is due at the end of Week 4. Submit it to
2. the basket in the Dropbox by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. mountain
time. Post your questions to the weekly Q & A Forum. Contact
your instructor if you need additional assistance. See the Course
Policies regarding late assignments. Failure to submit your
paper to the Dropbox on time will result in a deduction of
points.
Background
Our text (Hebda, 2013) provides us with a broad perspective on
telehealth. However, the specialty of telenursing is only briefly
discussed. Healthcare is readily embracing any technology to
improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, and lower
costs. This technology includes the use of various applications
based in various environments where registered nurses
indirectly provide professional nursing care.
Scenario
The following scenario serves as the basis for your paper:
You have worked with Tomika for the past five years. Tomika
shares with you that she has resigned and plans to work in an
agency that installs telemonitoring equipment into the homes of
those with chronic illnesses. Nurses monitor the patients using
the equipment with the goal of detecting problems before
patients need to be readmitted to the hospital. Tomika will be
working from her own home, with occasional meetings at the
agency. She would not be visiting her patients in their homes,
but rather would be assessing and interacting with them via
videoconferencing. She tells you that there are still job
openings and encourages you to apply.
You are intrigued by this, and decide to investigate whether
telenursing would be a good choice for you, too. Is telenursing
in your future?
3. Directions
You are to research (find evidence), compose, and type a
scholarly paper that describes telenursing as described above,
and whether it is a good fit for you. Reflect on what you have
learned in this class to date about technology, privacy rights,
ethical issues, interoperability, patient satisfaction, consumer
education, and other topics. Your text by Hebda (2013, Chapter
25) discusses telehealth in detail. However, your focus should
be from the professional nurse’s role in telenursing. Do not
limit your review of the literature to only what you read in your
text. Nurses in various specialties need to know about the
advantages and disadvantages of telenursing as it applies to
their patients. For example, when you discharge a patient from
an acute care setting, will a telenursing service assist that
individual with staying out of the hospital? You may need to
apply critical thinking skills to development of your paper. In
the conclusion of your paper, describe your current employment
situation, and whether a job in telenursing would, or would not,
fit with your career goals and life situation once you graduate
from Chamberlain.
Use Microsoft Word and APA formatting to develop your paper.
Consult the Publication manual of the APA, 6th edition if you
have questions, for example, margin size, font type and size
(point), use of third person, and so forth. Take advantage of the
writing service, Smarthinking, which is accessed by clicking on
the link called the Tutor Source, found under the Course Home
tab. Also, review and use the various documents in Doc Sharing
related to APA.
The length of the paper should be 4–5 pages, excluding the title
page and the reference page. Limit your references to key
sources.
The paper should contain an introduction that catches the
attention of the reader with interesting facts and supporting
sources of evidence, which need to be mentioned as in-text
4. citations. Keep in mind that APA guidelines state you are not to
call this an “Introduction” but you should include it at the
beginning of your paper. The Body should present the
advantages and disadvantages of telenursing from your
perspective as an employee, and the patient’s perspective as a
recipient of the care nurses provide. The Conclusion and
Recommendations should summarize your findings and state
your position on whether you will apply for a position with the
agency.
NOTE: Review the section on Academic Honesty found in the
Chamberlain Course Policies. All work must be original (in
your own words) unless properly cited. This assignment will
automatically be submitted through Turnitin, a plagiarism
detection system.
Submit the completed paper to the Telenursing: Is It in My
Future? by Sunday, 11:59 p.m. MT at the end of Week 4. Please
post questions about this assignment to the weekly Q & A
Forum so that the entire class may view the answers.
