Stacking the odds for Agile Project SuccessHaydn Thomas
“All we need is just a …” How many times have you heard those words at the start of a project? Or what about, “It’s just a project to do X and Y”. And then there’s the classic, “Can you just get on with it?” So you have attended some Agile training to handle this, so why are you not seeing the results you were hoping for and your stakeholders are questioning when they will get it. Sometimes no matter what you do, you can't seem to win.
This presentation focuses on stacking the odds in your favor in achieving successful outcomes. We will discover how to predetermine success by increasing your toolkit, mapping out and visualize the workflow, determine when things are likely to get done and turning those principles, tools and approaches into real ability to deliver successful Agile projects.
Introduction to Agile project management for campaignersFairSay
This document provides an introduction to Agile project management for campaigners. It discusses some of the key aspects of Agile, including user stories, sprints, scrums, and daily stand-ups. It contrasts the Agile approach with traditional project management by describing Agile as focusing on delivering working products frequently through close cooperation and self-organizing teams. The document then proposes a hypothetical campaign to stop a bill deporting unicorns and asks the readers to generate user stories for tactics over the next month to illustrate how Agile planning would work.

This document discusses trends in employee engagement for 2016. It identifies two key trends: focusing on employee happiness rather than just engagement, such as through unique recognition programs that acknowledge contributions and efforts to enhance workplace culture; and asking more from managers by training and empowering them to recognize employees through meaningful rewards and measuring their recognition efforts. The document urges readers to explore four additional engagement trends for 2016 by downloading the full article.

Jennifer Jones and Paul Hydzik presented at the 2013 RI Convention on strengthening Rotary. Their research found that while Rotary is known for its good works, much of the public is unfamiliar with it or what it does. Research also found that Rotarians join and stay for the opportunities to positively impact their community and the world through friendship, fellowship and service. The presentation outlined ways to strengthen clubs by finding leadership roles for new members, using service projects to connect with potential members, and focusing on members' mindsets rather than just their titles. Attendees were encouraged to share what they learned, live the Rotary brand to inspire their clubs, and improve member engagement.

This document summarizes the key findings from a survey of creative agency leaders conducted by The Agency Works in Q3 2015. The survey found that more respondents expect their agency's performance to decrease over the next quarter compared to late 2014. Agencies are focusing on increasing new business but struggling with retaining existing clients due to reduced budgets and increased competition. The majority of agencies set goals over the next 1-5 years and review targets monthly. Success is defined as both financial and personal achievements. The report provides insight into the challenges facing the creative industry.
Agency Food is a quarterly barometer for Agency heads to feed in their views on how their Agencies operate and in return benefit from the collective feedback.
This report summarizes the results of a survey of agency leaders about the challenges and goals in their businesses. Key findings include:
- More respondents said their agency's outlook is decreasing compared to last quarter, and increasing new business leads and decreasing client budgets and retention were top challenges.
- Goals focused on increasing revenue, profit margins, and new business over time periods of 6 months to 5 years.
- Success was defined largely in terms of personal and staff satisfaction rather than just financial targets.
- Utilization rates for creative/digital and client service teams were mostly in the 50-70% range, indicating room for increased efficiency.

This document discusses employer supported volunteering (ESV) and whether it is a benefit or burden. It summarizes research on partnerships between companies and voluntary organizations for ESV. Brokers can help match partners' needs, especially for smaller organizations. While volunteering for local charities is attractive, capacity issues need addressing. Overall, ESV provides benefits when partnerships are well-facilitated and understand each party's perspectives and needs.

The document discusses where ideas come from and how to scale ideas successfully. It notes that ideas can originate from many places, including poverty, ambition, faith, community, and actions. Ideas are sensed consciously or subconsciously and can be reactive or proactive. When developing an idea, it's important to consider the economic context and models of the time. Successful ideas need validation from people and frameworks to tell their story and achieve scale. Scaling is difficult but can be addressed through techniques like human-centered design, growth hacking, gamification, storytelling, and social consumerism models. The future involves collaborative ideas that benefit all parties.

Is Agile dead? It depends on what you mean by 'Agile'. If you mean that the organizations are not getting the promised benefits because they were focusing too much on the team-level agile "ways of working" instead of systemic global improvements -- then we are in agreement. It is a misunderstanding of Agility that led us down a dead-end. At Org Topologies, we see bright sparks -- the signs of the 'second wave of Agile' as we call it. The emphasis is shifting towards both in-team and inter-team collaboration. Away from false dichotomies. Both: team autonomy and shared broad product ownership are required to sustain true result-oriented organizational agility. Org Topologies is a package offering a visual language plus thinking tools required to communicate org development direction and can be used to help design and then sustain org change aiming at higher organizational archetypes.
