This document summarizes the relationship between social progress, economic development, and state competitiveness in India. Some key findings are: 1. There is a positive relationship between GDP per capita and social progress, but the relationship is not linear. 2. Economic development alone does not fully explain differences in social progress between states with similar GDP per capita, showing other factors also influence social progress. 3. Basic human needs have the strongest correlation with economic growth, while opportunity has the weakest, as expected theoretically. It also finds a mild correlation between social progress and state competitiveness in India.
