Genetic engineering has become more affordable, allowing changes to children's DNA before birth to potentially reduce disease and increase abilities. However, there are also risks to consider. Unrestricted use could compromise humanity and irreversibly alter the human gene pool. More research is needed on the actual effects of genetic engineering on people's lives. While we should use it to reduce inheritable illness, we should avoid creating "super-humans" or more social stratification. Education and limits can help ensure genetic engineering's benefits are gained while maintaining our humanity.
