This document outlines an action plan for a school to improve technology integration. It consists of 4 steps: 1) Teachers will access student performance data to inform instruction. 2) Teachers will review the school's technology plans and ratings to understand expectations. 3) Teachers will create classroom blogs to engage students online. 4) Students will use the blogs to respond to questions and share class projects. The goal is for teachers to better utilize technology resources and for students to benefit from teachers' increased technology skills.
Technology planning can be the catalyst used to enhance a school’s vision for the future, to strengthen its learning goals and to help realize its mission. The technology planning process itself must weigh the relationship between technology investments and student growth to be deemed successful. Technology planning requires that schools be willing to make substantial investments in time, resources, and support. The information provided on this website will focus on the essential elements of technology planning, which will include: (a) how to establish a vision statement (b) how to assess the schools technology needs to establish target area goals to improve learning, (c.) how to create effective professional development resources to increase the use of technology in the classroom, and (d.) how to support existing technological resources through funding and maintenance.

He has to be the liason between the administration office and the campus. He has the responsibility of determining how funds are distributed on the campus to ensure that all of the goals and policies of the school board and superintendent are met. Not only does he have to make sure that his campus is being enhanced with technology, he has to make sure that all teachers and students are following ethical and safe practices to ensure that all stakeholders are kept safe and learning protocol. Keeping a school safe and trying to put that school into the 21st Century of learning is a huge responsibility.
Action Plan
Technology Integration
In the ongoing battle to make our campuses into 21st Century learning centers, we must first understand how to access and understand the many resources available to us. To be able to effectively reach and teach our students in this day and age will require us to be able to model what we want them to be able to accomplish. Being able to effortlessly produce and relay information that will ultimately help us become better teachers and educators is the most important thing in our journey of educators. The first thing that has to be accomplished is for the staff to understand the data available to them. For this to happen the campus must engage in an extensive training program learning how to access and use the resources.
Goal: Improve the gathering, analysis, and use of data from AEIS, Long Range Technology Plan and STaR to integrate technology into the classroom.
Activity ActionsRationalProgressAction Date/AssessmentStep 1Accessing the AEIS report. Each department will access the AEIS report on line.Teachers will then be able to track the demographics of their students and the indicators for the entire campus.Using this data will enable staff to track the programs offered to these students and determine the deficiencies or the assets. All teachers need the opportunity to learn to access information. When they are given the tools to gather this information on their own, they can then access it on their own and not rely on administrators to give it to them. From the privacy of their classroom or home they can pull up this data and be able to manipulate it to fit their students needs. Curriculum through lesson plans and vertical teaming will show that the faculty and staff have expanded their knowledge of what the students need to be successful at statewide and district wide testing. Monitoring from the administrators will determine whether the needs are being met while also tutorials and assessments will also show improvements according the CIP and and the AYP reports. August 2011Access the report in computer labs during Thursday morning staff time. Each of the 5 computer labs will have experienced teachers available for help and instructions. In one week departments will submit the most important aspect of the AEIS in reference to their content area and what will be utilized from this data.Step 2Access the Long Range Technology plan and STaR chart. Read and comprehend the Long Range Technology PlanReview the Campus Improvement Plan regarding technologyReview the STaR chart for the campus the previous year.Determine the reasons behind the developing Tech ratings from the STaR chart. Staff members need to understand why administrators ask them to take the STaR chart and what it means to the district and campus. Most of the time teachers are just given the survey and never know what it means to the district or school. Seeing the long range plan of Texas for the technology component, lets staff members realize what they are expected to teach. When the deficiencies are brought out into the open then something can be done to improve the campus and district. Seeing what students are expected to know in each grade level puts it all into perspective. We can no longer let someone else take care of technology. Each teacher will have to be responsible and integrate technology into the classroom to produce a 21st Century learner. September 2011For two consecutive Thursday planning times teachers will again break up into departments and use the computer labs. Again experienced teachers will be available to help anyone access the information. They will collaborate on a specific aspect of the STaR chart and on 1 thing that they can do to improve the rating. Step 3Creating a blogTeachers will view blogs and administrators will demonstrate the attributes of blogging Teachers will create a blog for grade levels and departments.Teachers have to move beyond just using the computer for emailing and grades. There are many ways to integrate technology into the classroom, and blogging can be used to reach students, parents, and other teachers. Most teachers are now comfortable performing task on the computer, but to keep up with the ever changing world teachers have to find ways to reach students and parents and engage them in the learning process. Blogging can be that way. Teachers can assign lessons, answer questions, and provide a sort of distant learning that will prepare students for various situations that they will encounter in the world. September 2011On the two remaining Thursday mornings, the teachers will create a blog for their classroom. Teachers that are “technical immigrants” will be paired with experienced “bloggers” to mentor and train them. Administrators will be able to access these blogs and give feedback and advice. Step 4Students will access teachers blogs. Students will access the blogStudents will respond to a question(s)Students will create a power point project and “share” it on the teachers blogs.Teachers are learning how to integrate technology into the classroom, so now the students need to benefit from that knowledge. The students will use the portable lap tops to access the teacher’s blog. The teacher will have posted a question for the students to answer for the purpose of learning the process. The students will then be assigned a project to complete and share on the blog. November 2011Students will have access to the blogs and will complete and share a power point presentation. Students, teachers, parents and administrators will be able to access and assess the blogs.
