What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Video Capturing Device-We used a video capturing device in order to film both our main and preliminary tasks.-This was quite simple to use and therefore we were able to film the shots we wanted effectively using it.
Final Cut Express-Final Cut Express is the software we used to edit our filming and put together our pieces.-This was quite tricky as we had never used this software before, and so it took a while for us to get used to it. We came across a number of problems including not being able to add the effects we required whilst using the software, however with the help from some people who had used the software before, we were able to overcome such issues, and learned how to use the software more effectively.
I-movie-We used I-movie to get the non diegtic sound effects we required for our tasks, including the heartbeat sound and the car skidding sounds. -This was quite accessible as we simply copied the sound effects we wished to use on to the desktop, and then imported them into Final Cut Express, where we were able to edit and incorporate them in with the rest of our film editing.
Livetype-We used Livetype to create our animated title credits for our film’s opening sequence. -This software was another we had not used before, and we had a few issues at first with trying to get the text moving at the right speed in the right place etc. However with this software our credits looked really effective in our final piece.
Gimp-Gimp is a graphics editor software which we used to create the advertising poster and also the storyboards for our tasks. -This software was relatively easy to use as one of our team had used it previously, and so we were able to create an effective advertising piece for example, using the specialised tools of GIMP.
Vox.com-Voxis the website which we used for blogging our progress throughout our coursework. We uploaded all the stages of research, planning, creating and evaluation on to here.-Vox was another thing we had never used before, and although we came across a few issues (for ex. linking textual analysis's off an appendix blog to the main), it proved to be an efficient method for keeping a blog of our progress, where we could upload videos, audio, pictures and text.
