2. Maize (Zea mays L.) is the third most important cereal crop in the world after wheat and
rice with an area of 197.9 m ha, production of 1148.5 mt and average productivity of
5823.8 kg ha-1 (Anonymous, 2020).
In India, it is cultivated on an area of 9.86 m ha with a production of 31.51 mt and the
productivity of 2690 kg ha-1 (Anonymous, 2021).
In Uttar Pradesh, it is cultivated on an area of 0.77 million ha with a production of 1.80
million tonnes with an average productivity of 2331 kg ha-1 (Anonymous, 2021).
It comes up well under a wide range of soil and climatic conditions, there is a lot of scope
to expand the present maize yields.
INTRODUCTION:
3. In addition to staple crop for human being and quality feed for
animals, maize serves as a basic raw material for production of starch,
oil, protein, alcohol beverages, food sweeteners and more recently as a
potential bio-fuel crop in India, maize occupies important place as
food (25%), animal feed (12%), poultry feed (49%), industrial
products mainly starch (12%) and one per cent each in brewery and
seed.
Mostly Farmers are using Zinc Sulphate for soil and foliar
applications; however, the efficacy is low. The present study will
taken up to investigate the promotionary or inhibitory effects of Zn
nanoparticles in combination of Inorganics on growth, development
and yield of maize.
4. Title:Studies of Nano- Zn, inorganic and organic nutrient management
practices on growth and yield of kharif maize ( Zea mays L.).
Objectives:
1. To find out the effect of nano- Zn on growth and yield of kharif maize.
2. To find out the suitable dose of fertilizer for higher yield of kharif maize.
3. To evaluate the effect of organic manure on growth and yield of kharif maize.
4. To assess the interaction effect of nano- Zn, inorganic fertilizers and organic
manures.
5. To work out the economics of the treatments.
Year of commencement – Kharif- 2022
Location- SIF Farm CSA Kanpur
Results already achieved- New experiment
6. Design and layout-
a) Design : Split Plot Design
b) Number of treatments : (3 X 7) = 21
c) Number of replications : 03
d) Total no. of plot : 63
e) Gross plot size : Gross- 5.40 m X 3.0 m = 16.2 m2
f) Net plot size : 3.0 m X 2.0 m = 6 m2
g) Row spacing : Spacing- 60 cm X 25 cm
Row to Row – 60 cm, Plant to Plant- 25 cm
a) Sowing method : Line sowing
b) Total number of rows : 9
c) Variety : DKC 9144
d) Seed rate : 25 kg ha-1
e) Recommended NPK dose (kg ha-1) : 150: 60: 60
f) FYM and Vermi compost : 15 t/ha, 5 t/ha respectively
g) Dose of Nano material : Nano Zn - @ 10 ml litre-1
7. DKC (DEKALB)- 9144 is a produce of BAYER
CROP SCIENCE LTD. It is a consistent yielder, full
maturity hybrid suitable for rainfed and support irrigation
conditions. It has Wider Adaptability in Rainfed conditions
and wider geographies with Attractive Kernel colour with
medium to long cobs and Good stay green in colour with
higher yield of 74-86 q/ha.
Variety Description:
8. a) A control treatment is that in which no action will be done in respect
of nutrient management and it will serve as a baseline to compare
other treatments.
b) NPK-Granules- Fertilizers are high performance compound
nitrogen- phosphorus- potassium fertilizer including all nutrients
required for plant growth. NPK Granules complex fertilizer present
in market in different grades. It will be applied @ 150:60:60 kg ha-1
NPK, full dose of P, K and half dose of N will be applied as basal
and at half dose will be top dressed in two splits.
Sources of Nutrients:
9. C) ZnSO4 - Zinc Sulphate monohydrate contain-33% Zinc and 15%
Sulphur. It will be applied @ 25 kg/ha as per the treatments.
d) Nano-Zn* - Indian Farmer’s Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd.
(IFFCO) is supplying liquid for use in field crops. It will be
sprayed Nano Zn -@ 10 ml litre-1 in 500 liter water will be used
as per the treatments.
