2. Overview
The film we have chosen to do is a mystery drama.
It will focus on two reporters who are covering a murder when they are told they have the rest of the
day to live from a mysterious online group the reporters will attempt to track down the group and find
out the motive so they can live further than the 24 hours they have left.
The films which are similar to ours are Zodiac (2007) and Gone Baby Gone(2008). This is because
they both have the same target audience and are both mystery drama films.
3. Promotional Campaign
• Through our Promotional campaign
components we are hoping to
emphasize the mystery drama genre of
our film.
• Additionally the character
representation could be shown in the
poster and teaser trailer through
positioning, framing and mis en scene.
This Empire Magazine
cover is for two rival
characters, batman vs
superman, however they
emphasize the
differences between
characters which we will
use to show our
character relationship.
This could allow us to
further emphasize the
Drama genre side of the
film.
Our USP
• The USP of our Film which we will be
emphasizing in the teaser trailer would be the
specialist mystery group which the main
characters are up against and is more
sophisticated in the online age compared to
older film antagonists.
4. Teaser Trailer
The teaser trailer will be a minute long. The trailer will open with a sequence
of the two reporters watching the video from the group telling them they have
24 hours to live.
It then cuts to a shot of the characters arguing between each other as they're
panicking and confused. It then cuts to the final sequence in the trailer where
one of the characters appears to be dead or badly injured.
His colleague thinks it’s the end of the line and before the audience can make
any conclusions we cut to the title.
Our branding will come across in the teaser through different forums. The
genre will be apparent from the teaser as the audience will be able to see from
the tone of the trailer. The main plot will be shown in the trailer but no other
plot details will be given away. Both the two protagonists personality will be
shown how they are in the film. Also the title at the end will be in the same
style we use through out the marketing of the film.
5. Poster Ideas - Additionally we will
frame our characters and
choose their clothing/ look
to emphasize their
relationship and
attributes. .
- Through this poster we hope to emphasize previous branding points in other medias such as the
Mystery /Drama genre and also our character representations with only a little bit of the narrative
to prompt the audience to question the film but still an association with other branding identities.
- This includes the
main characters (
usually two ) focused in
the center of the poster
with little emphasis on
any of the storyline or
themes apart from the
mystery itself.
- We have decided that
the poster design
should be inspired by
current examples from
our genre.
- The text will be in a large size and a
clear /bold font in a white colour to
stand out against the dark background
6. Magazine Cover Ideas
-We decided that the magazine cover would attract our
target audience better if it included storyline /
character interaction signifiers of the film whilst still
keeping the main character emphasized in the center.
However we would have to make sure that no climaxes
or endings are given away. This will intrigue the reader
base of the magazine as it is male orientated with a
wide range of age groups.
- Colours used should be consistent with teaser trailer
rather than poster but keeping a very bold specific
colour such as blue or red to focus on the characters.
- Text will match the mysterious font used in the
teaser trailer and poster whilst being larger and filling
more of the magazine page than the ratio on poster.
7. Social class -
Social class C1- lower middle class. The type of job that they might
would be supervisory or clerical, junior managerial, administrative or
professional.
Age range -
The target audience that we decided that our target audience are
mature adults so they would be aged between 15-40. this is due to
the fact that in most mystery/drama films there is strong language
and the scenario is that revolves around the solution of a problem or
a crime and there is a massive twist about half way though the film.
The younger audience would like this genre because there can
sometimes have scenes that might be considered scary.

would watch
Target Audience
Profile
Gender –
The gender that we thought our film would apple to most is a male
audience. This is because stereotypically men prefer mystery genre
more that than a female audience.
