UNC MOVEMENT OF YOUTH ENGAGES KIDS IN THE TRIANGLE
UNC Movement of Youth is a mentorship organization located in Chapel Hill, North
Carolina. UNC Movement of Youth is a branch of the larger company Movement of Youth,
which is located in Durham, North Carolina. The company, started by UNC-Chapel Hill graduate
Atrayus Goode, mentors and challenges diverse youths to lead and succeed in the 21st century.
UNC Movement of Youth carries this challenge and allows UNC-Chapel Hill students the
opportunity to mentor middle and high-school age kids in the Chapel Hill community.
ATRAYUS GOODE
 Atrayus Goode founded Movement of Youth in 2006 as a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill.
 Goode supports the organization by overseeing overall strategic and operational
responsibility for Movement of Youth’s staff, volunteers, programs, expansion, and
execution of its mission.
 While at UNC, Goode was inducted into the Order of the Golden Fleece, the University’s
oldest and highest honorary society.
MOVEMENT OF YOUTH
 Movement of Youth offers mentoring and targeted enrichment activities led by college
students.
 Movement of Youth aspires to become the nation's leading movement for young people
to disrupt the status quo and build a safer, smarter, and more socially-conscious world.
 Movement of Youth’s guiding principles are in their tagline - Engage. Enrich. Empower.
o Engage: Everyone is valuable. How we engage, collaborate, and build
relationships fosters growth. We are committed to taking an active role in
contributing to the success of our youth so they in turn become influential leaders.
o Enrich: We will always strive for excellence and encourage others to reach their
fullest potential.
o Empower: An empowered individual understands that they were born with what it
takes to make a difference in this world.
 Movement of Youth primarily focuses on middle-range students, defined as those
students with a grade point average between 2.0 to 2.9 that score between the 30th and
70th percentile on standardized tests.

UNC MOVEMENT OF YOUTH
 UNC Movement of Youth exposes students to a number of opportunities, including
Leadership Academy, Team Mentoring, College Tours, Summer Enrichment Academy,
international travel via the J.U.S.T Global Fellowship, and scholarships through the
Tyreic E. Hemphill Memorial Scholarship Fund.
 In the past, UNC Movement of Youth partnered with APPLES service learning at UNC-
CH allowing students to volunteer with the organization for class credit.
