DJ Kool Herc is considered the founder of hip-hop. He was born in 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in New York City in the 1980s, when hip-hop first emerged. Hip-hop, also known as rap, is a musical style featuring rhythmic spoken word delivered over backing beats. Drake is a prominent hip-hop artist today who represents the genre through his lyrics and interviews. Hip-hop remains very popular among teenagers compared to other genres due to the culture surrounding it.
