The document discusses analyzing a movie dataset to understand predictors of audience score. It loads necessary packages and the movie data. Exploratory data analysis is performed, including checking data structure, selecting relevant variables for modeling, removing missing data, summarizing variables, and graphically analyzing relationships. Runtime is found to have a weak positive linear relationship with audience score based on a scatterplot, while release year and month show no clear relationships. Correlation analysis will further examine relationships between predictors and the response variable, audience score.

Tallyho - an App for AITA tournament formatMukul Biswas
Background:
Every year more than 50 junior tennis tournaments are conducted all over India. The tournaments are conducted by various “host” organizations under the observation of AITA (All India Tennis Association). These tournaments are conducted under 4 different “series” namely - Talent Series (TS), Championship Series (CS), Super Series (SS) and National Series (NS). Also there are different age categories for boys and girls - Under 10 (U10), Under 12 (U12), Under 14 (U14) and Under 16 (U16). The matches fall under 4 different formats - Boys Singles (BS), Girls Singles (GS), Boys Doubles (BD) and Girls Doubles (BG). A tournament can have several combinations of the above, however BS and GS are mostly focused upon.
Current Problem:
Currently most of the tournaments are managed by the “host organizations” using paper templates, phone communication and on-site display boards. This creates 2 different types of problems - 1. The management overhead is high and 2. Communication between the management and the contestants is low. There is a lot of anxiety amongst the contestant and their guardians on the match schedule, the current and final score, draw sheets, lucky loser situation etc. This results in not so pleasant experiences for both the management as well as the contestants.
Proposed Solution:
The above problem can be handled by a shared web application which works on subscription basis for the tournament management. The management can manage the entire tournament as an event using this application.
2. TournamentASA is the online tournament
management system for ASA/USA softball.
It is designed to allow tournament directors the ability
to manage all the aspects of their tournaments and
it allows coaches to keep track of their team and all
the tournaments they are registered for in an easy to
use online environment.
3. Signing up as a coach is a one
time process and is as easy as
entering your information.
Once that is complete you can
login and view your Member
Home where you will manage
your user information and create
your team.
Each time you return to the site all
you need to do is login with your
email address and password.
4. To create a team just enter the
team name, choose your ASA
classification, make sure your
association is correct and hit the
create team button.
(Some associations ask for your team’s RegisterASA ID,
check with your association if this is required.)
The Team Home is where
coaches can keep track of the
tournaments they are registered
to play in and other details.
5. Coaches can easily find the tournaments in their
area because each ASA association has it’s own
tournament page as well as a region page, or
they can use the tournament search to find any
ASA listed tournament.
6. Once you find a tournament you
can view many details about it.
See the teams registered
by age division.
Even view a map to the
facility or facilities, including
a QR scan code to view the
map on a smartphone for
directions.
7. To register for a tournament
just click on the register button
on either the listing page or the
details page.
8. Choose the division of play.
(You can even enter a special request for the TD if you need to)
Choose the method of payment.
(Not all tournaments allow payments online,
you may only have the email invoice option.)
Once you complete the payment
option you will receive an email
with your registration details and
the tournament will list in your
Team Home.
9. There are several tools for coaches to see and compare
their team to the competition.

each other, have performed
in ASA play.
10. The Power Rankings are
another tool coaches can
use to see how their team
compares to other ASA
teams at their division and
classification.
The Power Rankings are
viewable by National,
Regional and Association
level and are calculated each
week so you can see how
teams progress through the
season.
Statistics for all teams are
viewable showing the
tournaments they played in,
the results of each bracket
game and how it impacts the
team’s PowerScore.
11. When it comes time for the tournament to play,
TournamentASA can do pool schedules with
game scoring and standings updates that also
automatically send out text and email messages
to those who have subscribed.
12. TournamentASA also does brackets. They too
are updated as scores are entered and text and
email messages are automatically sent to
subscribers. Brackets can also be downloaded in
Excel, Word or PDF formats.
14. Adding or updating a tournament
only takes a few minutes. There are
several options available to help make
it easy to customize and manage your
event.
15. One of the main functions of tournament
management is the ability to manage the
registrations. You can see the
registrations as part of a list or view the
details of each tournament’s registrations,
even by age division, and update the
details of the registration. There’s also a
hit counter that shows your tournament’s
traffic.
16. When it comes time to put your
schedule online, the Schedule Manager
will make it easy. The Schedule Manager
is where you setup and control your
pool play and bracket play schedules.
We use ASA brackets in Single, Double
or 3-game format.
17. Admin users also have searchable
access to the coach and team database.
18. There are several options available to
help make managing your tournament
easier and hopefully more successful.
You can add sponsors and hotels to
your tournament, take payments online
using PayPal, and even upload
documents to your tournament that
users can download.
