3. SUMMARY
Taro lived in a small hut with his
old father and mother . He was a
wood cutter he sold wood for
earning money. One day he and
his parents were sitting in a
corner of their hut suddenly a
strong wind began to blow . His
father wishes to drink a cup of
warm sake
4. Taro work harder to earn more money
for to fulfil his father’s dream . while
wood cutting he got tired and thirsty
he saw a waterfall and goes their to
drink water . he drinks the water and
found that the water is tasted like a
sake . he filled his pitcher with sake
and went to his hut and gave the sake
to his father. His father enjoyed the
delicious drink

neighbourhood woman and tells
her the waterfall story of his son .
The lady spread the story
everywhere in the village . When
taro again went to collect sake
from the waterfall , he found that
all the villager came there with lots
of pitcher with them to collect the
sake .
6. Between them one man tasted the
water and says angrily that it is
only normal water they all moved
from there .Than taro again tasted
the water and found that the water
tasted like the sake and not like the
normal water.
7. The story of taro’s magic
waterfall spread everywhere
in the town .The emperor
rewards him because of being
obedient child of their
parents .And encourage to
obey their parents.
8. MORAL OF THE STORY
• Taro did hard work for giving
comfort to his father . he is an
obedient child of their parents and
got reward for his sincerity his
towards his parents he should obey
our parents order like taro to be a
good human being of the society

BRINGS A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR US.”

1. Why did taro run in the direction of the stream ?
Ans: Taro ran in the direction of the stream because he was thirsty. Secondly, he had
never before heard the sound of falling water in that area.
2. How did taro's father show his happiness after drinking sake ?
Ans: Sake gave warmth as well as energy to the old man. Taro's father stopped
shivering and started dancing. In this way, he showed his happiness.
3. Why did the waterfall give taro sake and others water?
Ans: The waterfall obliged taro and changed water into sake. The reason was that he
was ax thoughtful son. He served his old parents sincerely. Sake was the reward for
his goodness. Other people were just greedy. So they got only plain water

Ans: The villagers went to the waterfall to collect sake. But they got only plain cold water. They
thought that taro had tricked them. So they looked for taro to punish him.
5. Why did the emperor reward taro?
Ans: The emperor of Japan rewarded taro for being good and kind towards his parents. This was
emperor's way to encourage all children to respect, obey and serve their parents.
