D. WORK EXPERIENCE
1. September, 2009 – To date
Working as a consultant for different organizations and performed the following
activities.
a. Provided TOT training on Essential Nutrition Action-BCC (ENA-BCC) for Concern Ethiopia staff and
Jima zone health workers from different Woredas in Jimma town (January11-16, 2010).
b. Provided TOT training on infant and young child feeding practices for World vision Ethiopia staff and
government health officials in SNNPR, Hawassa from October 12-15, 2010
c. Provided TOT training on infant and young child feeding practices for World vision Ethiopia staff and
government health officials in SNNPR, Hawassa from July 19-23, 2010.
d. Participated in UNICEF sponsored and DTAS facilitated Community Based Nutrition (CBN) master
training as principal trainer to train health workers from different Woredas of Oromia.(February,
2010).
e. Provided TOT training on Essential Nutrition Action-BCC (ENA-BCC) for Concern Ethiopia staff in
Addis Ababa town (January11-16, 2010).
f. Adaptation and development of Timed and Targeted Counseling (TTC) materials (Manual and
Counseling cards) on infant and young children feeding for world vision Ethiopia. (finalized in March
2011).
g. Development of an integrated and field tested training package and set of job-aids integrating
CMAM community mobilization and IYCF BCC messages to enable HEWs and VCHWs (It is World
bank fund through Concern Worldwide for Tigray health Bureau).
2. March – September, 2009
Consultant and IEC/BCC specialist for PSP-Ethiopia (a private sector program), which is a USAID
funded project through Abt Associates Inc. Provide technical service for BCC/IEC activities of the
organization and specifically work collaboratively with PSP-Ethiopia team to ensure the
communication strategy designed to promote TB/ART services in private health facilities.
3. August 2004-September, 2008
Community Health Promotion and Behavior Change Communication (BCC) specialist for a child
survival project run by Essential Service for Health in Ethiopia (ESHE), which is a USAID funded
project through JSI. Specific roles and responsibilities are the following:
 Provide technical assistance to zonal and Woreda level health offices to mainstream child
survival and nutrition-BCC and community mobilization strategies.

 Together with program partners, conduct training of trainers (TOT) of Woreda, health
facility staff and health extension workers in community participation, adult learning
methods, and community mobilization strategies.
 Oversee community meetings and training of community health promoters, monitor
program implementation in the community and at the health facility, and organize
community events in coordination with program partners.
 Provide technical assistance to TVETs during the training of health extension workers and
provide intensive technical support to Woredas during their deployment.
 Contribute to exploring, planning, and implementing communication and behavior change
activities at community and household levels (such as pre-testing of materials and mass
media).
 Participate in the development of annual and quarterly work plans.
 Produce annual, quarterly and monthly reports.
 Actively participate in and contribute to major program activities, such as workshops and
training events, as appropriate.
4. March 2002-August 2004
In charge of IIRR Hawassa Field Office as Project manager for a reproductive health project entitled
as LOWO (Learning Our Way Out), which is a research based and a pilot project in southern Ethiopia.
Responsibilities include providing technical support to partner NGOs and more specifically the
following are key tasks:
 Provide program support to partner organizations.
 Appraise and review partner projects proposals and their fund requests.
 Facilitate capacity building activities of partners.
 Participate in planning activities of the organization at national and regional level.
 Actively participate in production of IEC/BCC materials.
 Produce reports; develop case studies and human-interest stories.
 Provide monitoring and mentoring support to partner organizations.
5. April 09 2001-March 1, 2002
Project Manager for HIV/AIDS and Family Planning integrated project in Awassa town, which is run
under Ethiopian kale Hiwot Church Medical Ministry. Responsibilities include managing both
program activities, financial issues, staff management and any other activities assigned by the head
office. Besides, assist program staff in organizing trainings, workshops, awareness creation
activities and establish monitoring frame work to assist the Medical ministry coordinator in
monitoring field activities, reporting and annual project meetings. The key tasks are as follows:
 Play managerial and leadership role.
 Human resource and program management.
 Planning, documentation and reporting
 Supervision of field level activities.

 Facilitate IEC/BCC activities and design strategies. Assist project staff in its
implementation.
 Facilitate different workshops, trainings and seminars.
 Facilitate net working with NGOs, GOs that are engaged in HIV/AIDS activities.
 Monitoring and evaluation.
 Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
6. October 26 1998-May 19, 2001
Act as MCH Nurse at Action Aid’s Rural Development Area in Waka, Dawuro zone of the SNNPRS.
The key tasks and responsibilities include; facilitation of PHC activities such as health education,
environmental sanitation, clean water supply, MCH activities, which include EPI outreach activities
and supervision of community based health activities in general. Assist health sector manager in
planning, documentation, report compilation, monitoring & evaluation. Besides, participate in inter-
sector activities to maximize the efforts of health sector by enhancing integration among different
sectors. Apart from the above tasks, also served as focal person for Community Based Rehabilitation
(CBR) program, which was intended to address issues of people living with different physical and
mental disabilities.
7. May 15, 1995-September 05 1997
Worked as Capacity Building Enhancer mainly as a training unit head at World Vision’s rural Area
Development Program (ADP) in Omo-Sheleko Woreda, KAT and Wolayta zones of SNNPRS. The
following are specific duties and responsibilities:
 Organize and facilitate training activities.
 Facilitate and participate in cross cutting activities like HIV/AIDS and gender.
 Facilitate community mobilization and behavior changing activities.
 Plan, implement, supervise and monitor training, community mobilization and
BCC/IEC activities.
 Participate in inter-sector activities.
 Facilitate other capacity building activities.
 Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
 Assist the ADP manager in planning documentation evaluation and review of
project activities.
8. July 01, 1993-February 7, 1995
Served as relief distribution supervisor at World Vision’s rural Area Development Program (ADP) in
Western Abaya Woreda, Gofa zone of SNNPRS. Main duties and responsibilities include follow-up
and monitor relief food distribution, collect meteorological and other relevant data for early
warning and ensure relief beneficiaries perform food-for-work activities.
9. February-September 1988
Served at the capacity of Health Assistant at Baptist Mission Feeding Station in Rabel, North Shoa.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
 Provide medical and nursing care to famine victims.

Worked as health assistant in World Vision Ethiopia. During this period served as pharmacist, MCH-
field-worker and growth-monitoring officer in emergency feeding centers of the organization both
in northern and southern parts of the country. More specifically the duties and responsibilities
include the following:
 Providing medical and nursing care to famine victims and monitor nutritional
status of children in the feeding centers.
 Participate in planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring of both static
and community based health activities.
 Participate in nutritional surveys.
 Participate in inter-sector activities.
 Manage drug store and dispensary activities.
11. March 1978-September 1983
Worked as Health Assistant in ministry of Health both in rural settings and at hospital level. Main
duties and responsibilities include; provision of medical and nursing care for patients.

Provided TOT training on Essential Nutrition Action-BCC (ENA-BCC) for Concern Ethiopia staff and Jima zone health workers from different Woredas in Jimma town (January11-16, 2010). b. Provided TOT training on infant and young child feeding practices for World vision Ethiopia staff and government health officials in SNNPR, Hawassa from October 12-15, 2010 c. Provided TOT training on infant and young child feeding practices for World vision Ethiopia staff and government health officials in SNNPR, Hawassa from July 19-23, 2010. d. Participated in UNICEF sponsored and DTAS facilitated Community Based Nutrition (CBN) master training as principal trainer to train health workers from different Woredas of Oromia.(February, 2010). e. April 09 2001-March 1, 2002 Project Manager for HIV/AIDS and Family Planning integrated project in Awassa town, which is run under Ethiopian kale Hiwot Church Medical Ministry. Responsibilities include managing both program activities, financial issues, staff management and any other activities assigned by the head office.
