Everything Everything
Schoolin
Goodwin’s theory

 Relationships between lyrics and visuals

 Relationship between music and visuals

 Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics

 Label demands close ups of artists

 Frequent reference to notion or looking and voyeuristic
  treatment of female body

 Inter-textual references between other films, tv, music
  videos…etc
Lyrics and visuals
 The visuals represent the lyrics of the song

 Everything he sings the video shows what he said. This is
carried on through the whole video.

                                    “Hanging round there in
                 “Brother the dark”
                 you look
                  like the
                     Taj
                 Mahal”
Music and Visuals

 In parts of the music video the video changes to match
the music. As certain parts of music plays the visuals
change to show an object that looks like they make the
noise of the song. This happens in the form of flashing
dots coming on screen or the objects changing
  changing into something else.
Genre characteristic

The abstract type of music video reflects the
genre because music and band are
 alternative and abstract themselves.
Creating a unique aspect to make a video
for. This video is mainly concept based and
is typical for an alternative music genre.
Notion of Looking
 There is no voyeuristic treatment of women in this video as it is
  not the typical genre

 There is no notion of looking within the video either as it is a
straight animation and features no screens, performance, or
  images of the real world.

 As it is an animation there is also no particular shots seen within
the video. Each scene flows into the next and there are no
pople to show so there are no shots of the artist or any other
people that may have any importance within the song.
Inter-textual references

 There are no inter textual references in this video, which I
think is normal for a generic music video, but alternative
music do often feature some minor reference to another
piece of work, but this is not seen in this video.
