            Sustainable olive farming in Spain

1.How useful is the content and does it respond to the information needs of 
 the targeted group of practitioners?

Main findings:

•A – Highlight economic benefit of sustainable practices and impact of 
unsustainable practices

•B – provide data/ statistics illustrating general trends

•C – important to have concrete content: examples, addresses… = food for 
discussion

•D ‐ several layers of info for several types of actors

2.How  well do the communication goals address the communication 
 problems? Are they ambitious enough, feasible, relevant?

Main findings:

•A – shall we have additional target groups

   –    Policy makers (EU, Nat, Reg/Loc level?)

   –    Wider public, consumers

•B ‐ need to understand the drivers of farm practices (economy; social, policy)

   –    These need to be influenced as well

5.How  effective and adequate are the chosen dissemination channels?

Main findings:

•A – Map information multipliers (actors and their role) 

   –    Advisory services: need to assess their competence, penetration and 
        independence

•B ‐ Using multi‐channel approach: 

   –    Irrigation providers, hunting associations, LAGs, 

   –    Markets, bars, churches, festival, hospital…
5. How well does the proposed format correspond to the target 
    group’s preferences?

Main findings:

•   A ‐ moving exhibition appreciated for advisory services and 
    wider public

•   B – advertising the exhibition through newspapers

•   C – Flyers alone are useless (or almost). Good to have them to 
    complement the exhibition. People are free to take them if 
    they wish to do so
5. Suggestions for other products?

Main findings:

• A – TV programme on Sunday

• B – workshop / regular lectures presented by trusted 
   person  (local person)
