Kenneth Frampton proposed the concept of "critical regionalism" as a progressive approach to architecture that seeks to mediate between global and local design languages. Critical regionalism aims to avoid placelessness of the International Style while also rejecting the individualism of postmodern architecture. He emphasized that architects should analyze and interpret local context and features with contemporary rather than traditional terms. Architecture should have a strong relationship with its surrounding context, cultural values, and local identity rather than being defined solely by technology or history. The author agreed with Frampton's perspective that architecture should bring back actual design components like topography, materials, climate, and structure, and avoid being a free-standing object isolated from its surroundings.

Architectural Prototype in Ambiguity Contexts: Degree Zero and Multidimension...CrimsonPublishersAAOA
Architectural Prototype in Ambiguity Contexts: Degree
Zero and Multidimension by Jiang Wang in Archaeology & Anthropology: Open Access
Based on the multi-semantic context of Chinese contemporary architectural design language, a new idea of purified design language was put forward in this paper. The smallest unit and the implied logic of architectural works were studied through relating Roland Barthes’s interpretation of Degree Zero of writing to architects’ confusion about architectural design. It was concluded that the true meaning of works lies in the unchanging prototype and even the idea behind the infinitely changing architectural form. By studying Degree Zero and dimension of architectural prototype, this paper analyzed the dialectical relationship between purity and diversity of architectural form, and then proposed the transformation strategy of architectural prototype.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

Reader/Text Title: Towards A Critical
Regionalism: Six Points for an Architecture of
Resistance
Synopsis No: 3
Author: KENNETH FRAMPTON
In this literature, the author recalled Ricoeur's sentimentwhich is "how to become modern and to return to
sources; how to revive an old, dormantcivilization and take part in universal civilization". He proposed
‘critical regionalism’ which is a progressive approach to design thatseeks to mediate between the global
and the local languages ofarchitecture. It strives to counter the lack of identity of the international style, but
also rejectthe individualism and ornamentation of post-modern architecture. He advised and emphasized
that architects should analyze the locality and interpret it with contemporary term instead oftraditional term.
Besides, architecture should notbe captured by technology and history. His pointis strengthened as
nowadays, lots ofdeveloping countries strives for better environmentin the modern civilization butat the
same time, the culture and locality is being neglected and seem to be fading.
On the other hand, he emphasized thatevery architecthas to study and do research on the contextual
features instead of neglecting them during designing stage. Itshould be well responded with the
surrounding context, locality and essence ofthe site. In addition, he advised every architectthat they should
consider the idea that there is no limitation or restriction of physical space when applying critical regionalism
to the design. By enclosing, spaces may be created, however, its borders should be the beginning ofthe
place instead ofits ending. They should think out ofthe box and explore tons ofpossibilities within the
borders.
Last but not least, I agreed with the author as he tried to make architecture to gain a new theoretical
perspective which is aboutbringing back the actual components ofarchitecture such as topography, tactile,
light, climate, tectonic etc. Instead ofacting as a free standing object, architecture should always have a
strong relationship with the surrounding context, cultural value, locality and identity ofthe site.
