No well ventilated and lit resting spaces for the elderly
Lack of connection between the elderly and the young
Unutilized spaces such as the courtyards in block A and B
Unsanitary resting spaces for the elderly
Lack of activities for the residents
7. SITE RESPONSES
• Create a link between the elderly and
young through design
• Utilize the courtyard as a well ventilated
space for the elderly to rest
• Incorporate recycled materials to create
awareness for both old and young
9. Case Study: Archifest Zero Waste Pavilion / WOW Architects
• The project is responding to the “dualism” of the
site, whereby one side of the area is quite on the
other side is bustling with human activities.
• The proposed pavilion seeks to embody the
duality between the two realms, with its
permeable skin.
• The materials is build with metal mesh frame,
allowing visual permeability between two site.
10. The Linkage
• The void in this structure allows people to locate
objects, notice the matt is being located in the void to
encourage people to sit and stay.
• The project brings people together, people can held
social activities around this pavilion, it creates a point
of interest, defining boundary as well as providing an
opportunity for the different realms of place (quite and
the bustling one) to come together. Our current site
can adapt this idea to forge the community come
together.
12. • The Rotterdam Watershed is a pop-up pavilion which collects rainwater in a "playful manner" in order
to illustrate innovative ways cities can acclimate to wet weather.
• It is also designed to mainly attract people to get together and communicate as people in Rotterdam
are normally segregated.
Rotterdam Watershed Pavilion
13. • The Rotterdam Watershed is comprised of 2,400 “ recycled pvc rainwater pipes.
• The pipes enables a steady flow of wind to enter. Thus creating a conducive environment. It enables
people to say in the pavilion for a longer period of time.
• This project is designed for both young and older generations. Thus, it acts as a platform to bring
both the generations together.
15. Values
• To create an environment where the elders and children are able to interact with
each other.
• Teaching the children respect towards the elderly. Keeping the elderly relevant
within the community.
• To spread awareness on sustainable design and keeping the environment healthy
and clean (using recyclable materials).
Objectives
• To create a link between the elderly and the young children living in Suria Magna
apartments.
• Provide social seating and activity area for the elderly.
• Provide a playground for the children.

20. Screw, Bolt and Nut
• All PVC need to be drilled first before inserting bolt or screw.
• The PVC can be screwed together with the connector.
• To connect 2 PVC together, a longer bolt need to be use in order to
connect the 2 together and secure it with a nut.
