SWORD: The Story So Far

SWORD is a protocol that aims to lower barriers for depositing content into repositories. It provides a standard way for depositing content from desktop and online tools, as well as for automated deposits and transfers between repositories. SWORD is based on the Atom Publishing Protocol and has been implemented in repositories like DSpace, Fedora, and EPrints as well as in various client applications. The current project is working on community support, development, and standardizing the SWORD profile.
