5. The Day It Happened and the IDEA strike
She was travelling in a Auto when a five year old girl(Rani
Kumar) came up, to her approaching for money. She refused
to give her the money, and the poor little girl burst out of
crying. Though she helped her in many ways, but still the girl
was asking for a money. Later she talked with her parents and
came to knew the real scenario, the case was entirely
different. In between of that there were a lots of up’s-downs ,
and tried getting job for their parents, but unfortunately all
of hard-work were rejected, later she came up with her own
idea to start her own company.
6. About Company
Om shanti Trader- a social enterprise incorporated
with a objective to reduce the economic gap between
various layers of the society.
It has 3 units in India employing 39 poor families
giving them an earning Rs30000/month.
Identify poor and underprivileged family with creative
mind and attitude.
Provide training on arts and crafts in clay, china
clay,fiber and jute.
The unique art pieces will be sold among individuals
and corporate.
7. They used to make and manufacture products like :-
Aggarbati, Plastic Wall clock, Golden Artworks, Win
Chain, Corporate Gift, Wall Photo frame, The Chariot,
Flying Horse, The Larten, The soul mate, Laughing
Buddha and many more .
Ultimately to be best in art and craft niche.
8. Difficulties Faced
One of the biggest hurdle is to setting up “OM
SHANTI TRADERS” has been gaining trust of migrant
families who are often sceptical about Bondia’s
intensions and fear of exploitation.
On the customers side, the companies the products are
sold to initially had doubts about the quality of the
craft.
People prefer to buy gifts based from Archies ltd store
rather than these products.
People suspect the life span of the products are very
low. They could easily break down into pieces.
9. Strategies Applied
The first step in this process is identifying appropriate
families who are usually poor, road side migrants and
training them in handicraft.
The products are then sold to corporate and the profits are
distributed to the families and reinvested in the
business(Leela palace,Taj vivanta).
They are working to bridge this gap between the privileged
and the underprivileged sector.
The training programes exend to villages as well ,which
bondia visits about two to three times in a month to help
underprivileged women.
10. CURRENT STATUS
Till now the company has funded 18 students in
Karnataka.
18,000 Students have been benefited across India and
Abroad.
3830 Activities Conducted around 38 cities across
India.
4.5 Million people have reached her across India and
Abroad for her social Entrepreneur Endeavor.
