        Sustainability
       Fiona Meldrum
what is sustainability?
Sustainability is the ability to keep going. Things that can be re-grown and reproduced quickly are known as
sustainable materials. Examples of sustainable materials are bamboo, cork and rubber as they all grow very
quickly and can be used in a number of different ways. It is all about the future and making sure how we are
living now will affect how everything survives in the future.
Personal Local
Recycle at home:

                                                               Use local produce
tins/cans
                                                               Bioregionalism

Council grants for solar panel/energy efficient boilers

                                                               Bioregionalism
Use public transport instead of the car
                                                               Green waste centres
Switch off electrical goods when you’re finished using them
Council empty bins every 2 weeks
Use roll on deodorant instead of aerosol
New homes should be energy efficient
Use energy efficient light bulbs
Look into getting a grant from the council for solar panels/
more efficient boilers.

bioregionalism

Bioregionalism is the use of natural, local materials. People that live in bioregions are aware of the ecology,
economy and the culture of where they live and are committed to enhancing it. For example, Inuit people use ice
blocks to make igloos because it is their natural, local source material. Norwegians use timber for their houses
because there are plenty of forests around to source the wood locally.
